0:00Welcome to the Matrix Minute, a podcast where we discuss the Matrix one minute at a time. Because we just love that movie. Hi, my name is Phil and Jake at the same time. I wanted to be Phil. I wanted to be Phil. Okay, well you can be Phil. We can both be Phil. Let's just be Phil. Let's just be Phil. Hi guys! Welcome to the Matrix Minute! We really... And guys, guys, we apologize. We apologize for not having guests. Yeah. We just apologize. We're sorry for everything. I apologize. I never prepare anything. I just... I just... No research. I just willy-vanilly come in here and just try to philosophize on my armchair and make up stupid theories.

0:47Just because I don't... Pull stuff out of my butt. Just pull them out. Just squeezing stuff out of my butt. Never have anything prepared. Just nothing. So. Yeah. We're sorry. We're sorry for everything. We're sorry for making this podcast. We just apologize. We're sorry we're alive. Yeah, we're sorry for... Should have never been born. And yes. So the Matrix Minute. Now to... What minute are we on? What are we on now? We're Minute 78. And I love The Matrix. I made many Matrix movies. Tell us about The Matrix. Are we doing Phil still? Yeah. I love The Matrix movies and I always wanted to make them. I like how green they are and how serious and cool they are.

1:29And I made my little brother and my cousin be in them. I told them. That's true. We were in there. Yeah. And I told them. Act cool and do fights and stuff. And we did. We acted cool and we... Yeah. We did. We did one takes. We did one takes. We tried. You know. Sometimes you try to be funny and you didn't like that, Phil. No, I didn't. No. So, Phil, what else do you like about The Matrix? I like that it's... Let me see if I can get this, actually. This is a good question. I wonder if I can actually guess what it would be. Okay. How the cinematography looks. So, the specific vibe of The Matrix, because it's so thought out, visually speaking.

2:19What else? I like... The dynamic shots. Like, how it cuts between stuff. We are... We are... We are, like, completely... I'm denying Phil. It's like, crumbling into... I like shots. No, that's mean. We're mean. We're being mean. We are bunch of mean bunnies. Bunnies. Butts. We're being a bunch of butts. So, here we are. What minute are we on? We're minute 78. Minute 78. Yeah, Phil's late. So, we're taking over. So, welcome to minute 78. We wonder when Phil will show up, but... Easy and cookies. We said nine, and it's now 910. That's not exactly, you know, on time.

3:01Are you recording his mic as well? So, minute 78, I'll... Yeah, yeah. So, he can just pop in when he's ready. Yeah, when he's ready. To join us, you know, as a co-host. Why don't we watch the minute, and then we'll try to say what happened. So, minute 78, let's see what's happening in minute 78. Okay. Uh... Count me down. Oh, you don't want to... Okay, we'll leave the description for Phil when he comes back. No, no, we'll do it. We need to watch it. Ready? Let's watch it. So, we're going to describe the scene after we watch it? Three, two, one. Play. Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do.

3:42Oh, look at this. The crotch shot. Oh, we forgot to mention those doors open that way. It's a lemon. Oh, no! No! Oh, well, Phil's back. Yeah. Welcome, Phil. Welcome to the episode. Welcome to the podcast. Join in. Join in. We're recording. What? You're recording already? Yeah, yeah. We were late to the session. Oh, you were here, actually. Hi, guys. Guess what? I don't have any notes either. I can't hear you, by the way, Tim. I can't hear you until Jacob turns it on. Oh, now I can. There I am. So, welcome to the session. Yeah. We started off the episode with a bang. Yes. And we pretended to be you. It's great. Since you were gone, we just were you in spirit.

4:22Yeah. Well, guess what? This session, no notes. No notes? Wow, Philip. No notes. So, my accurate description at the beginning was accurate. Just squeezing. What'd you say? Yeah, yeah, you were. Yeah. You'll be just squeezing. You were saying how you never do research. Right, yeah. I never do research. And how it's proven. I have no notes. This has been happening throughout the entire time. So, in this case, we can actually apologize. I thought you were going to make yourself one. How? Now you guys are talking on... It was 9 o'clock session. Yep. Where were you? I need to say the description. Philip, it's before 9 o'clock. I need to mention the description. Before 9 o'clock, not after. I was busy writing the descriptions.

5:03Sorry, we said 9. I don't know what that means. 9 was the time. I have to... I just have to write... Don't you agree with me? Yeah, yeah. I am so proud of... You should have said the 9.30, but you didn't. I can't believe it. We never were this structured until you two come in. And then you started just making up arbitrary deadlines. You never, never... We're always on time. You. You. We are on time to the T. When the clock strikes, you know, the right minute, we're there. We're ready to rock and roll. And the good thing about us is we don't have to do any research.

5:43So, we just show up. Oh, we're losing it. We barely made it halfway through. That's good. What's wrong with you guys? That's good. We left you the description to read, though. We didn't read that. Yeah. We were... As mean as we were, we still honored your descriptions. Fine. The rewards. Fine. We didn't read them. Because that's where I came from. I came from my computer writing down the descriptions. That's good, but you're late. I just hate you. I just hate you so much. So, Phil, what minute is this? What minute are we on? This is minute 78. Are we right, Tim, or no? Yeah. We're good. We're right. Okay, good. All right. So... Did you try some of my... Well, you used to get your own, but now it's like...

6:24What do you think? Such betrayal. I can feel it in his voice. Betrayed. Pretty good, right? Mm-hmm. A man betrayed. Yeah, it's great. Okay. By his brothers. In arms. Anyway, before we go any further, now that I'm here, this is what happens. The car screeches to a halt as Morpheus and Trinity leave the beautiful shot with the wind blowing in their clothes. Cypher grins at Neo and the group go up to the stairs into the hotel. But Neo sees a black cat... A black cat pass by. Black cat bastard. Basket. But Neo sees a black cat pass by. Bastard. But Neo sees a black cat pass by and shake itself with a meow.

7:08But Neo sees a black cat pass by and shake itself with a meow. Whoa. Deja vu. And the others get spooked after Trinity asks him to confirm if it was the exact same black cat. Tank sees glitches on the Matrix code. Scary music happens. Okay, guys. Okay, guys. I can't believe the rarity of the black cat. We're at the black cat. That's awesome. The black cat episode, everybody. Welcome. Merry Christmas. It's time for the black cat. Can you believe it? I can't believe it. That caught me off guard. We're not talking about the Spider-Man character. We kept doing all these talking scenes and everything kept building up. Basically, it kind of hits off from the ear and it just kind of doesn't stop. Well, there's a moment when Neo's like, oh, the uncle's he'll be stuff. But he's just kind of... Yeah, but after this, it's all action now.

7:49Dude. We're here. We're here. This is a... No more conversation. It's your point. It's your time, Phil, to, you know... There's nothing we can say. You have to talk about all the technical things. What do you mean? There's so many things to talk about, even though I didn't write anything. I literally did have nothing written. Me and Jay. We don't have much to talk about. I will explain to you what's going on. We never have much. Okay, so that opening shot at the beginning. Did you see that wonderful car, that Lincoln? Isn't that Lincoln? Yep, Lincoln. It was Lincoln, what is it, like 65 or something? I actually tried looking for a license plate relevance, but there's nothing. So the AA-4... Alcoholics and O-13. 3-4. 3-4. Yeah, whatever. I can't see the screen, so... Oh. It's AA-034.

8:30It doesn't have any relevance. Which we could say is like... But they did have to find a car that was on the right side. You would have to drive on the left side. Because Australia. Yeah. Oh. Imports. Imported cars. That's interesting, actually. I didn't think about that. And obviously the doors. I love those doors, man. That's such a good shot. I love those doors. Let's talk about how beautiful that shot is right there. Hey, do what you do? Let's do something different. Since it's a totally off-kilter episode, let's try to go through the minute and talk about it sequentially. We can... What we're seeing. Okay. So... Fine. Well, I just wanted to say that now that most of the episodes are going to be visual... Yeah. Maybe we should change the point. There's not going to be a lot of talking. We're going to do different things.

9:13There you go. Do you want to say, Tim? You were... I was going to say that this is what we were making fun of you, Phil, in the beginning. You know? Like we were like trying to figure out what you like about the Matrix. Yeah. We were saying like pretending to be you. What would be... We were trying to think. Yeah. What would you say? What do you like most about the Matrix? And you know, as a wounded deer, you review yourself. You love cool shots like these. And I know you do because... Look how cool this shot is. Because I remember, you know, the old Matrix movies we made. It was... Which we will show you once we get more popular and there's more people and then we're just going to expose ourselves. No. So, you know, like it would be sort of like expose.

9:54A lot of gibberish that you didn't care about. It was like, oh, just say something. And then you look... Back in the day. And then the center of the... It wasn't... This was... Let me tell you. This was my... This was my philosophy, which was broken and shattered. And it's from a, you know, 12-year-old kid's perspective. It wasn't what was being said. It was how you said it. And that's about it. As long as there's some kind of dialogue that's there in a certain tone, good. We'll move on. You know what I mean? Yeah. I mean, I'm just trying to explain, like, thinking about it back. It was like a lot of filler that you had to put in there. So it's not just that. And then... But the, you know, the crème brûlée, the...

10:34Yeah, but the structure and the flow was there. So something's there, but the cherry was these shots. And you would like to recreate, like, there's the foot coming out of the car. Bam! You know, you would have that shot. Or there's that. It reminds me of this shot. It's just... There's the close-up. There's this shot where it's, like, low angle. And you see these guys come out. And come out. It's like a little bit of, like, a dolly shot. And it's... Yeah. And it's awesome. And I understand that. And I think Matrix had a lot of those. And a lot of people... You can see that in filmmakers of our generation. That even when they were making their little amateur films, there was a lot of inspiration that, like, having those cool shots, you know? Yeah, yeah. And I think the Matrix did a good job of introducing...

11:16I don't know. My big question is, like, since we're talking about the shots, is how much of these shots are homages to other films? And how much aren't? I guess it's a blend. Get the Every Friend of Painting guy. Yeah. Yeah. I guess it's a blend. They stopped their YouTube channel, by the way. Really? Yep. Wow. I know them, by the way. Yeah, so did I. And obviously the doors. I love those doors, man. That's such a good shot. I love those doors. Let's talk about how beautiful that shot is right there. Hey, do you know what we should do? Let's do something different. Since it's a totally off-kilter episode, let's try to go through the minute and talk about it sequentially. No answer. So, yeah. I don't know. I think it's a blend. It's probably a blend of different things.

11:58It's a blend. What do you want to do? And I had a drink and it was too rough. Yep. Are you okay? Good morning. It is definitely. The problem is I don't know a lot of the Hong Kong cinema. Yeah. Yeah. We got cool shots. John Boo. There's this stuff that some of these shots are coming from. I don't know the original. So, sadly, this is, you know, this is not good for me to reference that. But I'm sure, you know. Yeah. We don't know anybody who does know. Maybe we do. Maybe someday we'll have someone who can actually enlighten us. Yeah. So, that's the Lincoln story. No, we can't pretend to know. No.

12:38I've seen only a handful. Oh, also, when they come out. Extra cool shot. Extra cool points. Let's do it. I have some stuff to tell you. No, I don't have any notes. Wait. Wait. The car. Wait. Which goes in. Yes, I did. It parks. Extra cool points. The first cool shot is Morpheus. Can you hear me? When they got out of the car, extra, you know, cool points. His tie is windswept. Yes. That's going to be our photo for the post. Yes. Sure. Absolutely, man. And that looks really awesome. Of course it does. And look at Trinity. She looks at him. She's like, yeah, look at that ass. So, she has had some secret thoughts. Yes. Well, I think maybe it's more of like an appreciation, you know, for the badger scene.

13:21Less of a, yeah. Ooh, it's amazing. It's more like, I know. I know. I know. It's the ass that will save us all. I mean, it freed me. Okay, so there's this close-up of Cypher and Neo. And let me just tell you something. Cypher has square glasses, which means that he's a bad guy because all the bad guys have square glasses. All the good guys have roundy glasses. Those squares. So, it kind of shows you the traitor that is Cypher because he has square glasses. Yeah. I didn't think about that. Well, not really square. They're just squareier. Rectangular. Rectangular. So, he's smiling and Neo's just like, nope. I'm just so upset of Neo's body language here.

14:01He's just not giving Cypher any kind of smile. I think Cypher is trying hard. Do you think he's trying hard to cover up? Yeah. I think that's what it meant to be. Why is Neo upset? Cypher knows what's going to happen. Cypher knows what's going to happen right now. He knows that the SWAT's coming in to bust them. The SWAT's to come. I think Neo isn't really paying attention to what Cypher's doing. I think Neo's mind is on what's happening today. The Oracle? No, just what's happening today. I think he's... Oh, yeah. That's right. They just left the Oracle, right? Yes. That's right. Yeah, so he's just thinking about that stuff. I don't think he's looking at Cypher thinking about Cypher. No, no one is. But then again, this is an interesting development here because they cut back to the real world. I think this is the first time we saw anybody sitting there in the real world and you just

14:45see their face. And there's Cypher's close-up where there's a little twitch. You mean during the Matrix? Yeah, look. See when they're plugged in. We'll come back to Cypher in the... It wasn't Neo when he was jumping? Oh, that was the... But that was something else. So, I'm thinking this insert was put in. I don't know. Why? What is the significance of that twitch? That twitch in the... He's just telling you of his villainous ways. Yes, I would say that too. He's nervous. I don't know. Okay. Another thing is that they're now showing more of Tank and showing more of the real world to intercut so you don't get... So it's not very jarring later on.

15:26But... It's a blend. Sorry. And I had a drink and it was too rough. Yep. Are you okay? Which starts this new sequence which is going downhill now. We did this build up. Now comes the payoff. And the payoff is going to be the next half of this movie. Hopefully, we will have a banger of a finale. Bangers and mash. A bangers and mash of a finale. Right after this lull in December where nothing much gets done. But, you know, we'll see. We'll see. What do you mean everything is done? Okay. Listen. So after we see that shot of Cypher Neo, we come back to Tank noticing some problems. Yeah, he's like, what's that? And the major code is like, look, I was like, something's not right with the code today.

16:07But... It's a blend. Sorry. And I had a drink and it was like too rough. Yep. Are you okay? Then we come back to the building. In the hotel building. That's right. And this is again, the original HQ. It is. This is a hotel from... Of the Resistance. Yeah. What do they call it again? The Red Pills. The Red Pills. Oh, yes. Yeah. The Red Pill Resistance. And they're walking up the stairs and they're going back to pick up the phone to get back in the... Also, this staircase is very similar to the one in Dark City. Probably. I don't remember much in Dark City. Possibly. But definitely similar visuals. Yes. And the moment happens. The Black Cat Moment.

16:48Oh, Black Cat does a little shake. Walks across the hallway. Neo. Double take. Does a double take. The same. Presumably. The same cat. Does the same thing. Now, the first question. I love that shot though. Is this an identical repeat of the shot? Or is it a different angle? It's spooky. Let's see here. It's a different angle. Different angle. Nice. Yes. It's a different angle at the same time. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Johnny. Johnny. Johnny eyes. The Tommy was owed it. Two cameras. Yes. That's the visual one film. Yeah. Yeah. That is a clever trick. Because I always wondered that when watching the film. I always thought like, did they just get a similar movement to the cat?

17:29But no. They just waited shot for a week until the cow cat did the same thing. So here we are. Day 108. Deja vu scene. We're still waiting for that cat to be the exact same thing. Yeah. Take 3,000 and a million. I mean, listen. Listen. If this was a remake of The Matrix, this cat would be CG. I was going to say, man. I was going to say, at the end of day 108, the Wachowski said, guys, we should have to do CG. The downgator was like, yes. Imagine the CGI cat from 1998 when they didn't have proper fur. Disgusting. Just imagine that. I can. I can imagine it very well. Let's not think about it.

18:09But let's be like Sully from Monsters, Inc. Even worse. Yeah. Let's see here. It's a different angle. Different angle. Nice. Yes. It's a different angle at the same time. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Johnny. Johnny. Johnny eyes. Tommy was owed it to cameras. But guys, 100%, if they remade this movie and it's like Len Wiseman directing or whatever, 2018. Who's Len Wiseman? Yeah, it's true. Who is Len Wiseman? He did Underworld and the remake of Total Recall. Oh, one of those. Yeah. Yeah, boy. Genetic. And, oh, and his wife is Kate Beckinsale. Mm-hmm. And it will be Kate Beckinsale crawling there.

18:52She'd be Neo. Yeah. She'd be Neo. She'd be Neo. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Um, but my point here is that the cat would be CG. Yeah. It would be 100%. It would be this weird shot. And then the cat would be unrealistically animated and computer generated. Why? Because we need the same movement. We need an identical movement. It would glitch to it. And a little glitch effect as well. No, a little matrix code. Yeah. Flash. Yeah. A flash out of her butt. Like a fart of code. Neo then goes, huh? Because he noticed this cat would be the same thing. He goes, ah, Deja. And the weirdest light ever. He looks like a soap opera. Okay, Tim, talk about the compositions here. There's some, I've never noticed this, but there's something really weird about the light

19:34on Neil here. Neil? Neil. No. Everyone's got this sort of mood light, this sort of film noir move. Okay, yeah. So we're trying to imagine that there's some light coming from the right somewhere. I guess it's from the top. From the, from, it could be realistic, you know, coming from the top. The problem is just the, what is that, the rim? No, what is it, what the, you know, the little really highlights on the edge? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's good. It looks a bit un-matrix-y to me. It looks a bit soap opera-y. But it's okay. I never noticed this before. Neo looks like a young man. Because basically, if you compare the shot with Trinity looking at Neo, Trinity has a very, like, has a softer light on the side. Very softer light, yeah. And there's a lot more darkness on half of her face.

20:14Yeah. And when it cuts back to Neo, we get a more direct lighting situation where it's almost like a spotlight. Yeah, yeah. Is on most of his face. A Fresnel. Fresnel. Oh. Hmm. That's okay. I always found it funny that, who says it here in this clip? Let me just check really quick. Let's see here. It's a different angle. Different angle. Nice. Yes, it's a different angle at the same time. Yeah. Cool. They Johnny, Johnny. Johnny, Johnny Eyes. They tell me he was owed it to cameras. Yeah, everyone of the crew is like, what happened? What did you see? Everyone's like. Yeah, everybody got scared when he goes, deja vu.

20:55Not just scared, but everyone's talking to Neo like he's a kid. Like, what did you see? What happened? Where did they touch you? Report. Report to us, you know? Yeah. And I never understood that. Because they know. The way Trinity turns is like Batman in the old Batman movies where his neck wasn't able to turn, so he had to turn his whole body. Yes. But they know. They know. They know what deja vu means. I do know this, but I'm saying, why did they say it like that so sternly? Why can't they be like, what did you see again? They're all scared of the agents very much. Yeah, because apparently the history of the deja vu is that many of the people outside of the matrix who come in, you know, who are hunted by agents, they apparently see deja vus and

21:3890% of the time it's always a glitch in the matrix, which means that the agents ordered some of the code to be changed. How do they order this? Do they call? Oh, can we have the... That's another episode for Exit Mr. Hat. Exactly. Ordering and then like they're online to the matrix and they're listening to some funky music. And it's like, you know, on the computer, like, make a new form, an intername, agent brown, agent address again. Why did we choose to do this in 1999? Why can't it be 2019? Look at this HTML. It's horrible. Oh, we can't send a request. Why? Requires flash.

22:19I have to watch this animation. There you go. Are you downloading Acrobat Reader? Download our forms. Get the Acrobat Reader to look at the blueprints. Where is this? And so it takes a week to send in, to change the code. But in this case, it was pretty fast, so... I don't know, Phil, maybe this could have been a week. Maybe they were... Maybe they just happened to be really close to the building. So it was coincidence that happened. Because they threw it in a week ago, I submitted it. It happened to be this time that they caught him. I really wonder how they do change it. Like, do they call in? Do they have, like, a psychic connection to the Matrix? I think they have to call it in because they... Later on, we find out... Oh, on the little connectors. They can contact the Sentinels, too.

22:59Oh, that is true. That is true. So exactly like... If we're talking realistically, not... No, it's just like how these guys are connecting to a tank. And those are... They're the same with the Matrix. The little headphones. I don't know. If we're talking for real, like, I'm not joking. I really do think the agents are not, like, limited to, like, talking on the phone and stuff. No, no, no. I really think that they just put in their earpiece or not, and they communicate through code to HQ and stuff like that. Yeah, you know how machines create their own language, and it's ridiculous. Oh, yeah. That's what I think they do. And I don't think they... There's no verbal communication. It's just they know what's supposed to happen. So anyway, in this minute, everybody just gets freaked out.

23:40You don't want to talk about that much? I want to talk about Deja Vu. Yeah. I wanted to talk about that, too. Yeah. Perfect. This is a perfect opportunity. Yeah. Did anyone research what Deja Vu is and why it exists? No one researched nothing. This is the podcast of the year where no one researches nothing. So I'm going to talk in layman terms, right? Okay. And then I'm going to look online and see how wrong I am. Are you ready for this? I'm looking right now. I can tell you... Can we do, like, predictions of what we think Deja Vu is scientifically, and then you can look it up and tell us? Okay, so... Can I go first or do I go first? I'll start it, Jacob. Go, go, go. Jacob. So Deja Vu is when you think that something happened.

24:21It is happening now that something happened exactly the same it was. I know, yeah. Now, this is... I had that feeling constantly. The feeling of Deja Vu. All day. All day. At least once a month. And it's a feeling that you are convinced that everything about that is not just one thing. Like, here, Neo sees a cat. It's like the smell, the situation, the people, everything. The sequence of events, I would say. Yeah, sequence of events is exactly the same as you experience it. Now, I think, I remember, I think it was something that is not actually that it happened, but the way your brain works and how you remember things, sometimes it messes it up. And what you're experiencing right now, the brain tells you it's a memory. And then you're really confused and you're thinking you're recalling something.

25:05That's what I think. I think if I'm not wrong, yeah, I think I would agree with that. But I would say that Deja Vu probably comes from your brain because the situation is so similar to something you experienced before. Like you said, your brain confuses it. What were you saying? You were saying the same thing. No, no, no. But I'm saying it's, you're not recalling, this never happened. This is not triggered by something that happened before. This is like... Oh. It's like, it's like a totally, just a brain fart. Oh, interesting. Because I thought your brain compares like an amalgam of events that happened before. And it sort of like combines those and goes, oh my goodness, this is similar to this, this and that that happened in the past. And it goes, oh, it's like you're recalling it now. You know?

25:46Like your brain, let's say, this is how I always thought Deja Vu works, is that you experience Deja Vu. And the reason you experience Deja Vu is because your brain is like going back into your memories and noticing that it's like three or four different events in a new sequence. So it's like, oh. And then it confuses itself. And it's like, oh my goodness, this is not, this didn't happen. It's just me messing around. No, it's, I'm reading it. I think, I think I'm, I think I got it right. It's basically your brain is recollecting what's happening right now as a memory. And it makes you think it's actually happened before. Oh, so it means it's brand new, the experience. Yeah. Seriously? So on basis, scientific approaches reject the explanation Deja Vu is a precognition or

26:34a prophecy, but rather explains is an anomaly of memory, which creates a distinct impression of experience being recalled. The explanation is supportive, but in fact, the sense of recollection at the time is strong in most cases, but the circumstance of a previous experience, when, whenever, is uncertain or believed impossible. Hmm. The two. There's also another one, you know, there's a bunch of other ones. Okay. Two types of Deja Vu are suggested to exist. The pathological type of Deja Vu, usually associated with epilepsy. What is that? What? There's also. And non-pathological, which is characteristic of healthy people in a psychological. So you have like really like weird ones for people who have epilepsy. What is that? What is that, Philip? What are you watching?

27:14What is this? The YouTube minute? There's also, there's also, there's also a Jamai Vu. What is that? Which is something that's familiar that you don't recognize. And you have a Jamai Vu. Familiar but you don't recognize. It's the opposite. Oh, you mean you should be familiar to you, but you're not recognizing it. But it looks like a new experience. Huh. I have billions of those probably. And that's going to be in the next Matrix film. Reloaded? No, no, no, no. I meant like the remake or whatever they're going to do. Oh. Oh, because they're switching it. Why not? They should. Switch. Apoc. Inigilbos are weird. I don't get them that often. I think I get them like.

27:55I get them quite often, actually. Really? And it's such a convincing feeling. It's like everything is like at that moment. It's like, oh, this all happened. Everything. To me, it's cool. Yeah. To me, it's cool because it feels like for a few moments that you're like, it's like, it's like destiny. This is meant. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like. Right. It's like you already experienced it. Now you're like, whatever you do doesn't matter, but that's going to be the future. For like. I mean. 20 seconds. I don't want to, you know, be, you know, kind of an asshole and like beat on other people's beliefs and stuff like that. But a lot of people actually do believe these kind of experiences are sort of spiritual and

28:37do live their lives through, you know, kind of like a guidance to this, you know, like these moments are special. And I'm not saying that in a, in a critical or sarcastic way, but I'm always surprised like listening to, especially like people from Hollywood or actors and these experiences is very like, you know, they, they take it quite seriously. And these are the moments like something like a deja vu or something like, you know, like out of body experiences or whatever, you know, just these sort of anomalies that feel different than the normal usual life. And, you know, they, they sort of like feel like that's, those are the most important moments of your life. Yeah. I would probably agree with that. Yeah.

29:17I think so. Yeah. But it depends on what kind of situations. I don't know. It's hard. I mean, like some people do live through life where these, everything, you know, anything that's like a different kind of experience that to do in the normal life, that's, you know, that adds like the extra layer of meaning or value. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. I agree. But again, it depends on what the experience is. Cause I think it's different for every, I think it depends on what experience it is cause it's different for every person. You know what I mean? Like, um, it also depends on the context and things like that. So there's different experiences that are like, um, that are different than normal life. Like, you know, that open up some kind of different perception of reality.

30:01And that could even be just a realization that's not like an out of body experience, but just a realization, like an epiphany, for instance, that could also be, I would say. I know. I was just, I was just merely saying that, uh, you know, a lot of people like the deja vu, you know, it's something that could be potential. It's not fully explained. Honestly, you know, people have theories. I thought about that. Cause like for me, deja vu was always just like, like you said, a brain thing. And I didn't know people. I mean, like they would like to reject that. Like, okay, that's, you know, like that's, I don't care about that. You know, what the science is trying to experience. I know what I feel. And to me, it feels like something like a premonition or a prophecy or an importance of a moment. And, you know, and that they hold it with a high regard and that's not, not anything

30:45bad or anything like that. I'm just saying that it's, it's interesting. And I think it fits with the theme of, of matrix where there's a lot of philosophies and spirituality mixed in with, you know, with the thing. So the sort of daily phenomenon that some people, uh, you know, apply to spirituality is great that it's in here, you know, it's a mix of technology and everything like a big mumbo jumbo. So deja vu is when you think that something happened, uh, it is happening now that something happened exactly the same. It was. I know. Yeah. Now this is, I had that feeling constantly. Yeah. I didn't think about that though with deja vu in the context of the matrix, but yeah, it makes sense. It's a good point. Yeah. I was watching, uh, I was watching the new Netflix documentary, um, uh, Jim and Andy, where,

31:32uh, it's about Jim Carrey, where he plays Andy Kaufman. Um, Oh, I read about this and basically watch it though. And basically he goes, um, is it good? It's very interesting. Um, it's, I was interested in seeing it, but I, I read some stumbled upon some articles and I didn't know what to think. Uh, basically it's, uh, Jim Carrey plays Andy Kaufman, but the entire shooting of the movie, he is, stays with the character of, of, uh, Andy Kaufman the entire time. Like, like, you know, like, I think, are we talking about man on the moon or no? Yes. Man on the moon. Yeah. That's the film, right? Yes. And doing the film, he's, he is basically Andy, he never changes character. He does the whole thing. Like he goes crazy.

32:13Basically everyone's going, everyone's looking at like what the hell's going on. He never switches off. Right. That's what I was reading about. But I also read about that. There's like a new documentary out that Jim Carrey put out. Yeah. This is what I'm talking about. That's yeah. Jim and Andy. You're not talking about. Not the movie. I'm talking about the documentary. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. That's on Netflix. Yeah. So for time with the documentary. Okay. Yeah. There's a new documentary out. And, and, and I'm always surprised, you know, like that, uh, you know, like art type people and everything. It's just like, he was kept mentioning a couple of these phenomenons and, you know, and just like the, you know, that's, that's what guides him, you know, like, like he was having this out of body experience and realizing he needs to be Andy Kaufman for, for that movie. And, uh, that's how it became.

32:55Yeah. That's how it became until, until, you know, the movie was done. And that's interesting, you know. But I think I also read that Jim Carrey was talking about how after that movie that he like realized that he like wasn't, he didn't know who Jim Carrey was and stuff like that. And then, you know, it was a couple of months of being that character. He was, he was completely lost afterwards. That's what I'm saying. And so he said that he made him like question himself and stuff like that. It's very interesting because there's moments where, you know, he's on camera and he as Andy Kaufman is talking about. You mean behind the scenes? Yeah. Behind the scenes. And he's talking about Jim Carrey and just expressing like all the deep feelings about, you know, what he feels about himself.

33:35But he's, he's now Andy Kaufman. And so he can talk about Jim Carrey, like about his past, about his, what he wants and how he feels about the world and how he's disappointed and how depressed he is. Like, oh, that Jim, you know, he really is trying to everyone to love him, but you know, that's not going to work, Jim. It's really interesting. It's like really crazy sort of character. Man, this sounds interesting. I think I might watch this. Yeah. It's pretty cool. You might get really like, it gets really awkward and you might get annoyed. Like, yeah, it's just like, I was watching like, come on, Jim, stop. You're taking it way too far. Oh, you mean because of his approach? Yeah. Like, I'm not going to, I don't want to spoil it since you're going to watch it, but he takes it to extreme levels where it's just like untasteful. Oh, okay. I see. Yeah. Okay.

34:15Huh. Weird. It is weird. It was weird. I don't get them that often. I think I get them like. I get them quite often, actually. Really? And it's such a convincing feeling. It's like, everything is like at that moment, it's like, oh, this all happened. Everything. I'm just really sad that we didn't buy bitcoins. Why did you buy bitcoins? Because. Well, okay. Well, too late. Philip, let's talk about bitcoins. When was the first time you heard about bitcoins? 2010. 2010. Who told you? I think you did. I just didn't know about bitcoins like 2011 or 2012. That's pretty close. Yeah. I remember. I remember we were still in the States and I was just like, wow, bitcoin.

34:56Hmm. Cool. Okay. Okay. And, you know, it's, okay. Let's talk about bitcoin. Bitcoin is basically it's gambling. Well, it's digital currency. It's digital currency that has risen in price for the last half a year. Now everyone and their moms is talking about bitcoins and everyone and their moms is buying bitcoins. And that's why the price is like skyrocketing. Oh, interesting. I was talking with, I was explaining it to someone about, what was it? August. And it was about 900. Now it's 18 grand. The price. Oh my goodness. Yeah. It was weird. I don't get them that often. I think I get them like. I get them quite often actually. Really? And it's such a convincing feeling. It's like, everything is like at that moment, it's like, oh, this all happened.

35:39Everything. And, um, you know, and, and I remember like, I think, I don't know who was talking to about it. And he was like, you should buy bitcoin now. I went and it was too complicated. I think it was about price. It was like two or $3 at the moment. I could have been a millionaire if I bought it then. But, uh, I was like, no, this is too complicated. I'm going to do it. No, no one knew, Jacob. No one knew it's going to rise this high. The people who are buying it. I know what I'm saying, but, but, okay, that's true. But here's the thing, right? I'm wondering, maybe because our philosophy is poor in the sense that maybe we should always just latch onto stuff that's new. So for instance, like now we're going, oh, bitcoin, blah, blah, blah. But there's other digital occurrences popping up, by the way, that are not bitcoin.

36:19Am I correct in saying that? I think. Yes, yes, yes. There are many. There are many. I mean, there's a few higher ones. Maybe we should change our philosophy now and we should go and buy those. How do you know which one? Now there's a thousand. That's the point of being an investor. You have to invest into things. Some things won't work, but some things might. Let's buy 10 of them and let's just let it sit there. And in five years, maybe we'll be lucky. Because right now, if we don't do anything, we'll get nothing in return. No, I was talking to a bunch of guys at work, you know, all the programs and stuff like that. So bitcoin is a talk every morning, pretty much. Because everyone's just going crazy. It's like, if I bought this a week ago, I could have made double, you know? And we had people who bought it and they just couldn't handle it for a day.

37:01I think that video from Tested was just, it was so disheartening. We never really. Oh, really? Yeah. I didn't watch it, so I don't know. Tested where, briefly, one of the hosts of Tested, they went and bought a bitcoin when it was like 500 bucks at a bitcoin. The problem though with that was that he was buying bitcoin from a third party reseller at a bitcoin ATM, basically. Okay. And the machine wanted like his ID, his thumbprint and insane amounts of like data, like his address, everything. And then once he hit purchase, and it's like, oh, it's processing your bitcoin. Come back in 24 hours or something ridiculous and stuff like that. So anyway, go on with your story.

37:42And he just bought a taco. Horrible. Yeah. I think there's a guy who bought pizza for like, was it like 80 or something? Bitcoins or something like that. What? He could be a millionaire. When? I don't know. That was like 2013 or something. Because basically, bitcoin is a decentralized currency. And the idea was you can earn it by, you know, lending your graphics card or processor for mining of this equation that is based on bitcoin. And it is a finite amount. And, you know, then sort of it work as a currency. So, you know, it could rise or lower the value. But no one thought it would, you know, go to this kind of value.

38:24So, but the main purpose at the beginning was to use it as a currency. So, a lot of people were like, you know, propagating it. So, a lot of other shops use it or anything. So, it wasn't never meant to be this. Well, because the whole idea, like you said, the decentralization is the critical part of bitcoin. So, no bank can control the price. And you are responsible for your bitcoin and your bitcodes or whatever they're called. Those little, you know, security codes. Yeah. You keep your bitcoins safe. Because they're encrypted. Yes. And so, then we're all using safe bitcoins. And it was weird. Really? I don't get them that often. I think I get them like... I get them quite often, actually. Really? And it's such a convincing feeling. It's like, everything is like, at that moment, it's like, oh, this all happened.

39:07Everything. Did I get it right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But this craziness that is now, you know, it's only been the last two years when people were like buying it to see, you know, how high it goes. Because like about two years ago, it started to grow. It went high and it fell and, you know, a little bit higher and then it fell again. And last, honestly, the last couple of months has been the craze. You know, everyone's going raving. Maybe we should buy some now. Why would you buy some now? No, not buy now. Listen, ready for this, guys? This is what you aren't seeing because you're dumb. Okay. Listen, if you don't buy now, I guess it's going to happen. There's going to be one bitcoin. It's going to be a million dollars next week. Sure. It could be. And then guess what? I'll be the winner. Okay. I'll be like, oh, I'm selling my one bitcoin that I'm in debt now, $15,000.

39:53Yeah. But I'm going to earn my one million. And you guys are going to be like, oh, well, we should have done that. But we were like, no, don't buy now. Don't buy now. Whatever. Because I'm thinking that pretty much any point I've noticed is with the bitcoin is that every time I said, oh, I probably should buy some. I'm like, you know, it's too high now. It doesn't matter because it keeps going up. Well, no one knows that. It could tomorrow. It could fall back to $200. It could be a dollar next week. It could be a dollar. That's the thing. And I think people. I'm just saying that it's annoying when it's like you see it happening and you could do something. But that's hindsight. You don't have that to the future. The truth is you have no freaking clue what that thing is. Many people will tell you, oh, this is the trajectory of the bitcoin. Okay, we're done with this episode.

40:35Thank you guys for listening. No, no, no. I just want to tell people we're talking about bitcoins. So people, if you're considering buying bitcoins, this is the advice that I got. Listen to me. Buy one bitcoin. You'll be rich next week. I prophesy this. I'm the oracle, bitcoin oracle. So the advice has got treated like gambling. Once you buy bitcoin or any sort of cryptocurrency, say goodbye to that money. Don't be the kind of person. And then if you're not a person who's good at stocks or anything, buying things, just buy. Say goodbye to those thousand. Let's say buy, I don't know. What can you get? Like a tenth of a bitcoin for now for a thousand dollars. Or get a whole bitcoin.

41:16Put your savings in there. But say goodbye to that money. And just hold it. Just see what happens. Give yourself a limit. Let's say once this bitcoin is worth, you know, I don't know, 60,000, then I take it out. And just do that. That's the simplest way. That's the hardest thing. Can we just finish this episode, please? Thank you. Yes, yes. And it's the hardest thing. My friend bought a bitcoin and he sold it in like half an hour because he couldn't take it as hard. He was like, oh, it fluctuated about two cents down. I have to sell it. That's stupid. Two cents is pretty weird. Okay, I'm exaggerating two cents. But still, it dropped like a hundred, you know? So, deja vu is when you think that something happened. It is happening now that something happened exactly the same it was.

41:58I know, yeah. Now, this is... I had that feeling constantly. If it dropped by a hundred, I would keep it. I wouldn't sell that. I would honestly keep it even if it dropped like really far down. Yeah, because it's mine. Because I'll just wait for it to come back up. Okay. Then go buy some bitcoins. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. Go buy Ethereum. That's better. It's cheaper right now. Or Litecoin. Litecoin has risen from a hundred to a hundred. Guys, I'm sorry, everybody. Hey, it's futuristic. It's Matrix. Yeah, I know. It's virtual currency. Yeah. Bye. Bye. We can't talk anymore about Bitcoin. Goodbye. Enjoy your deja vus. Enjoy your deja vus. Deja vus are weird. I don't get them that often. I think I get them like... I get them quite often, actually. Really? And it's such a convincing feeling. It's like everything is like at that moment.

42:39It's like, oh, this all happened. Everything. Everything. Three, two, one. Are you angry at us? You guys are just... Shenanigans. I actually set up the entire microphones thing. I know. It's good. It's great. I appreciate that. And I was writing notes and whatever. And I come back here and you're like... We're doing it. Look at that close-up. Well, now you know next time to say to change the time if you're late.

43:20Dude, shut up. Shut up. That's amazing.
