0:00Matrix Minute. No, Philip. The Matrix Minute. A podcast where we discuss the first film one minute at a time because we just love this movie. And this is the final time you can hear a man eating a cookie. Because this is the episode that the Oracle offers you a cookie. And we apologize for the mid-woch. Mid-wednesday. Mid-wednesday, mid-week. Mid-week thing. But we are here episode 77. You mean you apologize. You apologize again. For yourself. Right. What is it you apologize for this time? Okay, I apologize.
0:40Philip apologizes. We apologize for nothing. Yeah, I have to say I don't apologize either because it was a fascinating discussion. Yeah, about many things, many movies. It's great because we're slowly, as we stated before, turning this podcast into unrelated speak. But some Matrix. Some Matrix. Matrix is becoming the... It's like a really slow hijack, you know, like... Yeah. It takes 120 episodes. We let the podcast run its natural course. Go with the flow. We listen to the Oracle. We don't believe in this fake crap. Hmm. Yeah. Good point. So this has been a 70... Who can finish that number? 77. Star Wars time, guys.
1:21I bet you guys watched... Oh, yeah. Everyone's back, probably. The Last Jedi. You're going to watch The Last Jedi since it's Friday, I guess. And we, our past selves, don't even know anything about it. Mm-mm. Nope. No. There's Last Jedis. There's... We'll have a podcast of that, everybody. You can go and watch it. Yeah. Listen to it. But us right now, temporally, we don't know. We don't know. Maybe we're watching the movie as you're listening to this right now. Maybe we're recording the podcast of our thoughts. That's right. Maybe we're on the past. Who knows? It's an interesting, interesting thought. You never know. We know the future. We're the Oracle. We have approximate knowledge. Yeah. So I think the accurate statement is we have approximate knowledge of very few things.
2:03That's the best, though, Oracle. That's what every human does. Approximate knowledge of very few things. And absolute knowledge of nothing. Perfect. Perfect. So if you look at that little sliver of things, we kind of know. Right. Yeah. Anyway, welcome to Minute 77. May 25th, 1977 was a great time. Oh, I was thinking, like, what's going on here? Like, description, like, flashback? Yeah. To when Star Wars came out. And George Lucas was sitting in a diner in Hollywood Boulevard and looking out at the giant line and going, what is this? And he walks out and finds out, oh, it's for Star Wars. That's a really cool story. He didn't even know it was out. How is that possible?
2:43How is there a line for something that no one knew about? Just someone decided that. Word of mouth? Yeah. The trailer looked great, I guess. Word of mouth. Huh. That's awesome. Because George was working on the stereo mix. They were still doing the stereo. It was still on mono. Yeah. Yeah. Can you imagine that? The 3D. I bet there's people like, oh, stereo is a fad. Oh, I bet. One channel. Enough. No. I'm sure. Dude. I bet you they were like op-ed pieces back then. Like, why mono will survive? Yes. Exactly. And this is ridiculous. Why mono is more realistic to the year. Yes. And then they'll say, you know, the rich tradition of mono has been around for so long. Therefore, it's correct.
3:24Well, you know that DVDs ruined my, like, it really mutilated. I didn't want to say that. I wanted to say. Sounds violent. Mutilated. No, no. I wanted to say it fogged my, like, confused me when I was younger. Because I was like, how can they have 5.1 surround mixes of, like, black and white movies? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Oh. It's magic. Wizardry. And then I, then speaking of wizardry, I watched behind the scenes of how they restored Wizard of Oz. And then they talked about that they still had this, many of the stems. And they just, yeah. Made it. We mixed it. Stem cells. Stem cells. Okay. So. Whereas you as a kid thought that they just put in the, they pressed a button, convert to DVD, and suddenly here's the 5.1 mix.
4:05Well, when I was a kid, I thought that they just had a TV up in the projection booth and just moved the TV. That's true. That's true. It was a revelation. I remember I still have this image in my head. I was watching 101 Dalmatians, 1997, February, something like that, because it came out later in 96. But like in Austria, this is when it was. And I just looked back and said, where's the projection coming from? And I saw, you know, from like a screen. It's really small. And I said, that's it. It's a television. It's small. And I told my parents, it's just a television. I could just move the television and it will project such a big screen. You also thought more of these. Genius child. Tentacles coming out of his eyes.
4:46Okay. Minute 77. Wait, wait, wait. Before we end. Last minute, we were talking about outro, about, you know, how 3D turned out to be a fad and not really useful. And this happened twice already. Yes, it did. In the 1950s. The same logic could be applied to stereo. It's like, well, you have two ears, so let's do stereo. It makes more sense. And then you apply the logic to video. It's like, well, there's one screen and we have two eyes, so why don't we do 3D? It's two projections. But it doesn't work out. The same argument doesn't apply to everything. I think it's all about context and perception and things. Okay. Minute 77. The Oracle gives Neo a cookie from her cool-looking leaf glass tray. She promises that once he's done eating, he'll feel right as rain.
5:30He leaves to the hallway, meeting Morpheus, who tells him that what was said was for him and for him alone. Neo takes a bite and Morpheus puts on his glasses. The scene cuts to Mouse admiring the woman in the red dress in a pinup photo and gets a call from Tank. Tank tells them they're on their way and the minute ends with Switch and Apoc waiting outside as the car arrives. So guys, this is our last episode with the Oracle. Phew, it's all done almost. We will dub this the cookie episode. Mmm. Oh yes, cookies. So let's get straight to cookie business. Right, well that's exactly what the Oracle does. Anger rises within me. Anger. This is something we talked about off the podcast.
6:12Just a few. Believe it or not, we did talk about it. In between the first and the second episode. Why do I have to go to such secrets? Jacob, stop repeating secrets. I am a transparent man. All right, all right, all right, all right. So yeah, we talked about something. And there's a, there's a, there's a, we talked about a general sort of perception of some people who watch movies. They think things a bit literal in the, in sort of like it's, it's projected as reality. And a lot of those people would like to create sort of theories on the online. Sometimes they're called tinfoil theories where they find internal logic of the movie that explains the main plot or something like that. And, and one of these tinfoil theories is that, that Neil isn't, correct me guys if I'm saying
6:55this wrong, right? You're saying it right. That Neil isn't the one, but as soon as he eats the cookie and they make a terrible, terrible pun, which is cookies are connected to the cookies on online, you know, where the, where the server saves some local files. Yeah, that's the biggest, big, that's how you get, add legitimacy to such madness and raving. Such crap. This is a web thing. It's even like a recent relative. Doesn't matter. They've heard the term and they apply it to add legitimacy. So, and she gives him cookie and he eats the code and then he receives the code of the one inside the cookie becoming the one infected. And I want to kill myself how bad this is.
7:37Code insemination. Yes. But no, but seriously, like it's so like, it's really looking for stuff only within what you're seeing in the film. Like you can't think beyond that. It's just, Oh, look at the cookie. Yeah. And we were talking about, is he one? Was he the one? Is he the one? And just the general notion that somewhere on the, not on the surface, but somewhere below hidden deep is the explanation of he's the one or not. Who creates this kind of storytelling? Why would you, why would you even put this in there for what? To someone to find out? Like, sure. An extras, a reference or some kind of subtext.
8:17It's for that one Redditor who gets a gold medal. He'll get Reddit gold. Yeah. He gets Reddit gold. Sure. He'll put it in the subtext. But the main, like, is he the one or he isn't hidden in there because he eats a cookie? Like, like, like a physical action explains this. Yeah. This is, this kind of negates a lot. I would call this view, um, sort of like a literalist view where you have to explain everything through just what you see in the film. When with so many movies, that's not the case. You have to go beyond. No, this is complete. I don't believe this at all. I don't believe it at all. Because it's just, it's too, like, it's just so, there's no depth to it at all. Depth. Now, granted, we, we are on the Matrix Minute, which is, we discuss one minute at a time.
9:02And we make up all sorts of crazy theories. But we never add any sort of legit, like, we, we don't take it as like, oh, this is what it means. We explore different ideas. But eventually, we try to put it in a perspective of someone who made the movie. And with that, putting in there would make sense for making that movie or telling that story. We, you can't just make up something and then decide, you know what, without any confirmation, yeah, that's probably what it is. You know what I mean? I agree. And then share it as like, guys, I figured it out. Well, now we're being Benjaminis, but it paces me off. In the second movie, there's the whole Matrix within the Matrix thing as well. So we got that. Yeah. And it's fun to, fun to go on these little rides and explore this, but you can't present
9:46this as sort of like, I don't know, like you found out the great conspiracy. I don't know. The great conspiracy that the cookie makes him the one. It feels conspiracy-like. Yeah. But that also just throws out a lot of the themes. And again, I think what Tim was saying, like, if we follow that road, then essentially we can really look for anything and anything we choose to give legitimacy because we're abstracting it from what the creators might have intended. Well, the story is telling you one thing and then you're supposed to just believe that this cookie is like underhanded. That's the real thing. Yeah. What would you say the movie should be called? The cookie? Yeah. The cookie. The cookie code.
10:27So she says, here, take a cookie. Yeah. And then he walks out and Morpheus says, you know, don't eat. Don't eat. He's sitting there listening. But no, before that, she says, she says, she says, you'll feel right as rain after you're done. I promise that once you're done eating, you'll feel right as rain. Oh, she's talking about the rain, the code rain. Oh, that was it. Well, you know, when I was a kid. Because in the end, he'll see the rain. Well, when I was a kid. Oh, that's kind of interesting. That's kind of funny. But when I was a kid, I was watching that and it's rain sounded a little bit like raisins. So I think there's raisins in the. That makes sense. I don't know about you, but I love raisins in my cookies. And you're like, raisin cookies. Yes.
11:08You'll feel right as raisins are in those cookies. So what do you think she means? You just mean right. Right. You'll feel. Well, she's going back. Because she's talking about how he could eat the cookie. He'll feel better. She's going back to her. Well, obviously, she just wants him to eat the code. Yes. That's all she does. She was programming that. It's all led up to this. She was compiling her code in the oven. Yes. Yes. She's rendering. Smell good, don't they? All the images and everything. Who's she going to offer the other cookies to? The potentials. The ones. All the ones. The potentials. Yeah. All the special cookies. She'll give them like, you know, like, here's a little JavaScript for you.
11:51Because, you know, it has web terms, obviously. Cookies. Yeah. Yeah. I accept these things. But I have to say that it's lovely that she offers. I think she was also, she was talking also about when she meant, you'll feel right as a wrench. She also meant cascading code, CSS, you know. But what I wanted to say is that keeping with the theme of her ambiguity and not giving direct orders, she says, she doesn't take a cookie and stuff it in his mouth. She goes, takes a cookie. He can have the choice. He chooses which cookie he wants. Yeah. She's always presenting everything she said. Yes. She is essentially setting it up where you can't say anything against her in a way.
12:32Like, everything is, it's not her fault in essentially anything that happens. She's covered. Yeah. She's just, oh, yeah, you pick that or you're free to pick. You pick this cookie. Oh, I'm going to die. What type of cookie do you think? Oatmeal cookie? What does it look like? Chocolate chip. Chocolate chip. It did look like a chocolate chip cookie. Let me look at that cookie. Well, no. Shit. It's chocolate chip. That could be, it's chocolate chip, but it's a bit chunky. It looks like oatmeal. Maybe it's oatmeal and chocolate chip. I think it's oatmeal and chocolate chip. Exactly. I want to believe there's a raisin in there. No. No one likes, why doesn't anyone like raisin cookies? Look, I'll give you proof. You know, in the third Matrix movie, she's making cookies. And there's raisins in it. No, there's not raisins. There's chocolate bits. Ugh.
13:13I mean, raisins are good. I just don't like them in cookies. Me neither, right? They're horrible in cookies. What do you mean? I knew you guys wouldn't like it. I knew you'd chew on this together. The cookie is crunchy. The chocolate inside is crunchy. The raisin kind of breaks up that consistency. It's like, and there's a gooeyness into it. Like, what is this gooeyness? It doesn't feel like it's kind of ruining the flow of the cookie. Yeah. Yeah. It's just like, you go like. You're left like, you're left biting on these. I knew it. I knew it. I found it on Pinterest. Okay. Oracle cookies. Tell us. Recipe. Oh, Binging with Babish should do an episode of this. Binging with Babish. The guy who does the food for movies. Oh, I think I watched a few episodes, maybe.
13:56Yeah. Yeah. It's good. He should do Oracle cookies. I got, I got, I got, I got his cookbook. Emma for a meat wash. St. Nick. Yeah. Americans, you don't know what that is, but it's awesome. You take your boots and you leave them outside and then St. Nick comes and puts goodies into your boot. If you were good. Unless you're bad. And then you get like coal or hay. Yes, you look, look, four of her cookies turn into six cookies. If you watch the movie, if you look at the clips. Four of them turn into six? What? She has six cookies. The sixth one. He takes a cookie. You see they're all representing the different ones and then there's the sixth one. Wait, but if there are five Neos before, she ate them.
14:37She cooks the Neos. She's the evil witch. It's kind of scary. Oh my goodness. There's five, five cookies. There's a five Neos, right? Five ones. And then there's the extra one, which is Eddie. Who knows? Oh, poor Eddie. I feel so sorry for Eddie. By the way, do we have any other names for the other ones or no? No. No. Eddie's the only name one. Well, what is Eddie Q from Apple? And then the other one would be Freddie Finnegan. Bill. Bill. Eddie. Jim. What about Apple? Drunken Eddie Q. I don't know about Apple. Oh yeah. Stumbling down. Eddie Q. Under the stage. Sorry about that. That was an accident. And she gives him the cookie and he takes the cookie.
15:20And then that's it. We don't see her anymore. Any more. Anything else you want to talk about? That's the exit of the Oracle. I think we've said everything. Yeah. Next time we see her, she'll look. No. No, wait. Tim, you are making it sound like. Yeah. You're also going into the. Into the. Giving false hope. Giving false hope. Next time we see her. No, but wait, wait. She's only changed in the third one. Sorry. Third one. She changes. Yeah. What? Yeah. She's in the second one. Remember the whole park bench scene? Oh, that's her. The entire time I was trying to imagine. What is. What is the next Oracle look like? And I was thinking of the park bench scene. But you're thinking of. And I couldn't picture the new Oracle. No. That's why. That's why. Okay. Now it makes sense. She gives him. She gives him a candy.
16:01More code. She compiled. But she gives him red candy. Stop the birds. She stops the birds, right? She doesn't stop any birds. Yeah, I know. She talks about the birds. Wait, there's a park bench scene where the birds stop. They don't stop. No stopping birds. They're slow motion. You're mixing. Slow motion. Yeah, slow motion. But not stopping the birds. Oh, they're slow motion. They're not stopping. She doesn't go freeze. With the Animatrix. Okay. No, with Morpheus going freeze it. And it's a bird. Stop. Yeah, I guess I'm mixing those up. Freeze it. Okay. Now the Oracle goes. No, I promise we will have like a really long review of the Matrix Reloaded. Really long podcast. Yeah. Really long. Series. Yeah. Called The Matrix Reloaded. We can record it into chunks and just put it together and it'll be a really long podcast. I'm really curious again to see who wants to do the Reloaded in Revolutions podcast.
16:44I've got confirmation for the cookie theory. Okay. So as Neo comes out, right? Morpheus has this just normal expression, right? No, no, no. He has a normal expression. Look closely. The first few scenes, few frames, normal expression. Then he looks at the direction of the cookie. He sees the cookie and he grins. This is stupid. I hate those. He went for it. He went for it. He's going to eat it. It's so cryptic. So are we going to imagine that the Oracle actually told Morpheus before a couple of years ago? When the one comes here, just I'll give him a cookie and he will become the one because Morpheus knows about the whole code thing.
17:25Yeah, yeah. They set up this design. If he comes out with a cookie, he's the one. Okay. Okay. What if he went like this? Okay. What was meant for you and you alone? And Neo has the cookie in his hand and he's like, do you have a trash somewhere? And then Morpheus is like, what? I don't feel like eating it. Do you want to eat it, Morpheus? Want my cookie? Neo. Neo. You can't give me this cookie. No, Morpheus goes, you're offering me the cookie. I can be the one. This is all what I will be dreamed of. Give me that cookie, Neo. I'm like the cookie monster for a second. Just crumbs flying. And then he's like, can I fly? He reminds like Vegeta when he thinks he can go Super Saiyan. He's like.
18:05Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe Morpheus just stands and goes. What are you doing? I'm the one, Neo! I am. Neo! I'm going to save you all! So anyway, Neo. I can now go between the railroad and the Matrix. Okay, so anyway. Before we leave the Oracle, Morpheus just says, what's meant for you and you alone. Do you see special readings on your radar? Do you see the code, Tank? Do you see my power level right here? Do you see? The code should be different now, Tank. Is it different? See the rainfall. Yeah. Is it different? What were we saying, Phil? Okay, what? Just Morpheus says, what's meant for you and you alone? And again, that reaffirmed my belief in the secret.
18:45Yes, your theory. Yes, Jacob. Tell me about the secrets. I talked about it before. Okay. Well, I mean. I just meant to say that because he said that and more people were talking in similar fashion, I thought, okay, well, what is meant for you and you alone? Don't ruin it. Don't jinx him. Don't tell anyone. Once you tell anyone, it's over. Because Morpheus just comes up to you and is basically telling him, don't tell me what you told you. That's what he's in fact saying. But Neo does tell everyone. Neo's a... The Oracle told me about this. Yeah. And Morpheus is in the real world going, no, I told you not to tell. Or imagine, you know, Neo's in the car, they're riding back and he's sitting next to Trinity. It's quiet. I'm not the one. That's a good one, but I was going to say, Neo writes like, you know, in school. And then there's Cypher, he's still driving, remember?
19:26What? He passes a note to Trinity. And he's next to the look at it. And Trinity's like, oh. No, he said he's not the one. She mouth, are you the one? I can see that in my head. And he's like, I don't know. And she's like, oh. And you can see how that would be great. Are you the one? And Morpheus is, what? What do I hear? What is this? No, Morpheus. Trinity. Trinity. Because he's like this boss. He's like this bossing around. Well, anyway. He made up his own rules. Anyway, before the scene cuts, there's just a shot of Neo.
20:06Ingesting the code. Ingesting the code. But before that, we have a revealment. That's not a real world. The real of how the sunglasses work. Yeah, yeah. We get to see. Plops them. Plops them on there. Just clips them on. Clips them on and walks away. I'm just surprised those things don't fall off. Like, they don't just bend. Like, they just don't clip down. Strange thing. We got a printout of the woman in the red. Right. Let's talk about that. This kid's got a problem. That's a photo, right? Yeah. It's like, he's like sitting. Mouse is, by the way. Printed on the back of a newspaper for some reason. That's three kisses. Really? Yeah. Well, I don't know. Three kisses, my friend. You know, when someone puts an X, it's a kiss.
20:47Are you guys serious? Mm-hmm. So whenever you see someone messaging you and then you put an X, it's like, That's why it's called triple X? I don't know. No. Okay. No, that triple X is a secret. Like, porno? No, that's R-rated. No, no. Triple X is a secret spy organization. Oh, yeah, yeah. The extreme spy organization. And X is kiss. No, no, no. But I don't know if you know about this, but I used to live in UK and sort of in messages, like IM or like SMS, it's like you use the kisses as sort of like giving mood to your text message. Because like in text messaging... I thought you said text message.
21:28You mean before emojis. People still use that now. Yeah, they do. No, no, I know, I know what I'm saying, but just to give you context of your example. Evolve before the emojis. Yeah, yeah. For example. But they were used like... So, you know, like you write messages and usually when you read it, the default way is sort of like passive aggressive sarcasm. Any text you read or any email, you know, if it's not like... If there's no emoji or something, there's no smile. Yeah, yeah, usually it's like very stern if I say... Neutral, I would say. Not neutral, but it always seems like... Okay, say if I write... Hey, Jacob, can you please... Okay, here's my mood I'm writing in. Hey, Jake, can you please send me those files? This is how you read it. Hey, Jake, please send me those files. You know, it's always a little bit like... So people do that like...
22:08So it's like, oh, 1X is like... It's like, oh, okay, it's like this is normal. 3X is... Oh, this is very like more lighthearted and everything. But it's usually also used like, okay, so for your family and your friends, you send 1X. For your like best friends, you know, you send more Xs. For your girlfriend, boyfriend, it's a lot more Xs. And every sentence is finished like that. Xmas when you were in Belfast, you mean? Yeah, yeah, and this is still used. I've learned that it's still used like that in... Even now, like people on iPhone... That's interesting. I actually never... Our friend Megan did it too. Oh, that's what it was. Yeah, so if you have a girl that gives you like 7Xs... I was wondering what the rogue X was. Yeah. Finished with an X.
22:49Kiss. Pusa. So he's British, this little man. Well, no, I wanted to mention... We'll talk about the print that he has, the pinup photo. But first, let's look at where he's sitting. He's sitting in Morpheus's chair in the same room where Morpheus and Neo had the conversation. Ah, I never put two together. I know, it's amazing. We're going to see more of that, but it's like the same hotel. So that's usually where they leave and come. Okay, ready? I'm going to be a cookie master logic person. Wouldn't that mean... We're done with the cookies. I know, but I have to bring it back. I'm not going to talk about cookies.
23:30I just wanted to say, doesn't that mean that they might be a little bit more prone to being discovered if they keep always hanging out in the same hotel? Well, I don't know. That's their problem. I'm not speaking from a super logical standpoint. That's their problem. I'm just thinking from just a general caution. Because if you're a rogue Matrix matricioners... No, you're not a matricioner. You're an exile. Exilers. Going into the Matrix all the time, surely you want to go to different places. Right. So they can't track you. Right. But the thing is that Matrix is designed very flawed. I mean, they have actual agents to police it. Right. Actual agents that are locked into the laws. So you're saying there's a lot more low tech than I'm imagining with sensing.
24:10I guess they never thought of building a better system that actually analyzes all the data and not send stupid AI little robots that have to physically get there to find out. They were creating things so faithful to the real world that they actually inhibited themselves. Oh, crap. They should have had a system that just detects. It detects anomalies within the system and just pinpoints at that moment. Not like, oh, you know, send agents. That's ridiculous. You know, like tunnel vision to look around. The agents have to take the car and drive there. They're like slightly enhanced. They can punch faster.
24:50Mr. Reagan, it's your turn to visit the gas station. Mr. Jones. And then, no, he's like, we're in a hurry. Okay, I'll turn myself into gas. Smith, do you want anything? I hate all these drinks. This would be such a, Jacob. In these Slim Jims. I hate this place. You just made a great spinoff idea. You know how they have Marvel short one shots? Marvel one shots. Here you go. One shot for the Matrix. That's so hilarious. Think about it. Staying the life of agents going for gas. Yeah, like agents that hates it. And these other guys are fine with it because it's their job and they're not questioning it. And they're like, you're getting Slim Jims and eating food at the gas station. Mr. Jones, I expected you to fill the tank before we left.
25:32Yeah, but they never break character. They always go in this. Because they can't. That's the only character they don't do. I got unleaded again. It broke the moment. Now you have to rethink what we're going to do now. Do you want me to go out and push? Now we have to contact HQ again. Turn yourself into a car right now. You know what I feel about HQ. I hate HQ. Or HR, sorry. They're not human. Agent resources, AR. Yeah, yeah. Agent resources, AR. It takes them a week to respond. Brown? Brown's in the backseat. Who's the other guy, Brown? Brown's the guy who likes humans, remember?
26:12You guys, he tucked in. Yeah, yeah, he's the one who puts the blanket. He's the sort of smaller guy, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's his fault, obviously, yeah. Because he's been, he's, he forgot. He was too, he didn't sleep enough because he was tucking Neo in. They have to go to like a motel to stay, right? And it's like, they don't sleep. Yeah. So they're just standing in the room. They're just standing there. Anyone want to say anything? Does anyone want to play something? Scrabble? They're just standing there. Scrabble. Just imagine AI playing Scrabble. It's like everyone puts out the longest words. This is boring. Can we eat?
26:53Well, they have to also blend in. Presumably. So. I just see an agent in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. But that'd be a really funny, though, series. Like, they're going to this, like, buffet. Yeah. He's like, I hate chicken. I hate everything. Agent Brown, get us some normal clothes. And then he comes back with, like, like, like really terrible, like, shorts and a whole leather jacket. I, you said a normal human clothes. This is. Meanwhile, meanwhile, there's a lot of time in the changing booth. And then Jones opens it. And he's wearing Neo's trench coat.
27:35I'm sorry. You look like me. But also, don't you think. Oh, I got a phone call. One second, guys. It's Mr. Reagan. We have to go and be with him in 0800 hours. Oh, man. But the changing thing. I just imagine a montage. And you're like, guys, guess who I am. And he comes out as Morpheus. You know, he finds the clothes. And he's like, haha, I have access codes to Zion. But they don't laugh. That's the funniest thing. That's hilarious. That's hilarious. Yeah. That would be great. And then the other one. And Brown comes as Trinity.
28:15And everyone's quiet. In a sexy outfit. Oh, I love it. That's not funny, Brown. And it's like a lot of, like, you know, everyday misunderstandings and stuff. But they have to go through it, too. You know, like, where did Mr. Reagan say we're going to meet? Why isn't he here? Yeah, he accidentally. He wants to shake someone's hand. But he accidentally morphs into him. Okay, yeah, yeah. Do we give a tip or? Like, they don't know anything. Like, because they're doing other things. Can someone make a cartoon out of this? That would be awesome. The adventures of the agents on off day. Oh, that would be great. Where they got nothing to do. I think that's a missed opportunity right there. And the premise has to be that the agents, like, we, like, they just have to be around. Like, that's the premise. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They can't. They can never switch off.
28:56They can switch to different bodies, but they still have to be around. Yeah. But they can't, like, be like, okay, our job is done, right? There's nothing happening. No, they just stuck there all the time. Like, load out of the program. They're always loaded. Yeah, yeah. It's like, you know, Matrix HQ doesn't care about them. They just loaded them in. Yeah. And they just have to deal with it. What do they do? They just walk around? That's what they're saying. That's the whole series. Yeah. Just stuck in a loop. Or they, every time they're nothing to do, they just freeze. Somebody's like, there's a man standing there. Yeah. Do you know, I also think, like, they so rarely get anything interesting going on in the Matrix. So it's like, once a week, they get something in their earpieces that, like, oh, we have an anomaly. Yeah.
29:36Yeah. I mean, like, they're an agency, so you would, well, they take Neo to the interrogation room, so they must have an HQ. Yeah. Pretty cool. They have an HQ, yeah. So they come there to just sit there. Yeah, sit there. And just talk. Well, we are, I'm sorry, they're in their HQ at the end of the movie. Yeah. And at the end of the movie, yeah, that's their HQ. The hotel? What did they do there? No, no, at the end, like. Where did they take Morpheus? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, interesting. The lobby, that's the Asian HQ. I thought they rented that out just for a special occasion. Oh, well, okay. Like, Mr. Brown, you make the reservations. Now, that's an episode of them trying to. They're trying to get it, and then they're asking, like, so, sir, what are the purposes for this? Interior, I mean.
30:17Well, they could just lie and be, like, government interrogation. A dinner party. Government. Oh, government, that's true. They could lie and say government. Well, I mean, they are. They could easily be government. But here's what makes it even better. Like, they could pose as government agents, but Matrix HQ doesn't care and didn't give them any kind of things to work with. Oh. Yeah. So they're just stuck with these suits. And they have to make up excuses for everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. FBI agents. Where's your ID? We're gonna need a fundraiser. Funraiser. So they can afford to arrest out that room and all the police. Please set up the Kickstarter. Patreon? No, I think they're just going around harassing the police. Because remember in the beginning, the policeman was like, oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. So they do have a higher status.
30:58Yeah, they do. You're right. Yeah. But I think they just go around. That's what they do. They just go around and harass the police. Well, that's a hobby right there. Can we... Last question. Do you think those are the only agents, the three guys? Well, the upgrades show up in Reloaded. Ordinary Lieutenant. Well, this would be funny. If the upgrades show up, remember? Yeah, no. But it'd be hilarious if there are only three of them because there's so little anomaly activity. Well, that's... I think so. Those are the only agents we see. Because I always... When I was younger, I thought maybe there's more. Like, you know... Maybe. 34 to maybe 100. But this is funnier if it's just three. It's amazing. And they fit in a car. And you know, you can shoot it where you have the driver, the passenger, and in the back seat in the middle is Agent Smith.
31:38Always Brown is in the back. Oh, he's in the back. I thought Smith was driving. No, Smith rides shotgun. The other one drives. And Brown is always in the back. Jones drives. He's like... You can tell. And Brown is the small one. He's the muscle. He's in the back seat in the center. Yeah, yeah. And Smith... The great thing would be like Brown... Shut up, Brown. You're out of the element. The other guy, Jones. Jones. They're like very default in stock. So they're always like looking forward in the car and stuff. Whenever you see Smith, Smith is like a little more human. So he's like looking out the window with his arm rested on the window. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's perfect. He's the cool one. He's the leader. He's the perfect boy in this world and stuff. But he also doesn't know how to fully express these human emotions. So he's in this weird like position.
32:19He's kind of lame. How is this... How is this never made? So he's the leader. Basically, they're the trio. They're the trio. They're Ed, Ed. Basically, yeah. They're... They're any sort of like... You know, there's the leader who thinks he knows everything. That's Agent Smith. You've got the big dumb muscle guy. But the thing is this though. Agent Smith, even though he's a leader, he hates it. And he knows it's lame, this whole thing. Yes, yes, yes, yes. And he always... You deal with these idiots. He slashes out on the other two. Yeah. Yeah. He hates his job and everything. And Brown is, you know, the nice... The heart of the thing. Yes, yes. The heart of the thing. The Ghostbusters as well. You know, you've got your... Dude, this is Ed and Eddie. Vaikman. The Ghostbusters, yeah. You know. Yeah, the Ghostbusters as well.
33:00That's the soundtrack. The Ghostbusters music. You know, with the piano and the light jazz kind of... And there you go. And the series could be like, what happens in between what happens in the Matrix. You know, only that. And then it cuts right before it happens, the event in the Matrix. Yeah. This needs to exist now. That'd be a great project for like a short film. It's just too bad that everyone's too old now. Well, I'm saying... No, just... No, no, no, not... Oh, just get anyone. This has to be animated. It has to be animated. Oh, yes. And it's like five minutes of them just, you know, like reacting to the world. That'd be awesome. You know, because they're off time. They're in the car. It always starts in the car and they see something, you know.
33:41And then they go investigating or like... Or try to bring in. That'd be awesome. Oh, fantastic. Fundraiser. Yeah, she had a fundraiser. It's like super lame stuff they have to do. Yeah. But they have their other options. Yeah. Okay, so back here. He's looking at the woman in red, that picture. I guess he loaded it with him in like in his jacket or something. Yeah. Now, the reaction he has... This is my question. Okay. This is how I always thought of it. And I still think of it this way. Should I just mention how I feel? How it was mouse reacting? Like with his reaction with his raised eyebrows going... Oh, yeah. Yeah. He's kind of shocked almost. For me, I always thought it was like he's looking at it as his creation.
34:22And he's just going, yeah, I did a great job. Look, you know. What am I going to... What can I modify next? You know, what can I... That's true. And I always felt it was like that. Like that's the kind of way he was looking at the woman in red. Because other people are like, oh, no, no. It's because he... You know, he... That's like his... I don't know. His what? What? I'm trying to think. I'm trying to think. It's like... Well, no, because like when we watched the... Like we watched some videos on the Matrix.
35:03Okay. That's super general. We watched some videos on the Matrix. We watched some videos about the Matrix. And the idea... Like for some other people, he said that... They said that, oh, Mouse is looking at her in a lustful way. And I was thinking... And I never felt like it was that. I felt like it was the other way. Oh, okay. Like he's looking at the... Like I said... His project. Project. Like... He's testing the goods. I think he mentioned... He said he designed the woman in the red dress. So I think that... Yeah. Would probably be... Probable. Yeah. I suppose. I think it's a lot less. I think it's supposed to be... Oh, it's a reference to... Like we did the woman in the red dress. It'd be funny if he was looking at the woman.
35:43And they're like... Yeah, that would be hilarious. Yeah, that could be it too. Let's do that. Also... And then they told him... Okay, react like... Oh, you know, like you like the woman in the red dress. And that's what the actor did. He did the... Yep. And they're like... Good, fine. Cut. Okay. Well, that's the end. That's what I think. That's all you see in the red dress. That's it. She's gone. That's it. That's it. And then there's... Yes, there's our song. It's awesome. He's squatting. Oh, he's sitting on a bucket. I thought he was squatting my entire life. Oh, so he's not squatting like a slav. No, he's sitting on a bucket. Oh, my goodness. I also thought he was squatting.
36:23And you can see a little bit of Cypher driving. Oh, that is true. Oh, it's probably not Cypher, but... And there's Morpheus's back of his bald head. I thought it was Cypher. While Trinity and Neo are making out of the back. And then that music. So I wanted to mention the music. The title in the soundtrack, it's called Exit Mr. Hat. And I want to tell you about the soundtrack for Don Davis's score. And I want to tell you that all the soundtrack titles are awesome. I love all the titles. Give us some titles. Because they're all both... They have no real relation to the actual music. And it doesn't tell you what scene it is in, more or less.
37:06But they're clever. And they're way better than Michael Giacchino's ones. Because I don't like Michael Giacchino's ones. Give us examples. We know what we're talking about. Okay. So Michael Giacchino, he did music for... Great musician. He's a wonderful, very, very productive composer. And he did stuff for... I think most of his best stuff is the Pixar scores. Like Up... Down. Up, down. Left, right. Up, and down. Ratatouille, Incredibles. Oh, I love his use of modern band instruments with classical. I love in Ratatouille that sort of French deal with the bass and everything. I love Incredibles. That's one of my favorite scores ever.
37:48It's like a mix of... I like the use of just normal drum kits within the soundtrack. Yeah, he did that. He did Up. He did... Didn't he do... Star Trek. Yeah, Star Trek. And Star Trek 2. The new ones, you know, the 2009 and 2013 ones. And then he did Rogue One. And then he... But he also did stuff... He does a lot of things. But he also did stuff way back in the day, 1997, for DreamWorks games. Like Small Soldiers, the game. And Lost World Jurassic Park, the game. And he also did Jurassic World. Anyway, what I don't like about Michael Giacchino's stuff is just that the albums that are from
38:34his scores, they all have titles that are just puns. I like that. I don't really. Oh, really? What did you like about them? I don't. I don't. Give us some examples. Should I look them up? From the top of my head... Yeah, you can look for some. But like, from the top of my head, the worst one... The ones from like Star Trek was like, does it still McFly? Instead of, does it still fly? Or... Oh, really? Wait, wait. Give me a second. I'm gonna cut this out. It's like, hella Bartoff. Let me cut... Yeah, what's this for? Let's say... Nero Death Experience. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's for Star Trek. Nero Death Experience. Because Nero is the main bad guy.
39:14Back from Black. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Stuff like that. The New Car Smell. Nailing the Kelvin. So why don't you like these titles? Because all of them are like that. Every... Every... That's a thing. Or like Jurassic World. You wanna hear some Jurassic World? Let's hear some Jurassic World. Give us. Please type it in, Mr. Brown. Why are you using Apple Music when we are beside it, Spotify? Like this, like... I cannot share...
39:55Like, as the Jurassic World turns, or Owen knew nothing, because the character Owen Grady in the movie, or... The Demorphodon Shuffle, or, you know... Oh, like... A raptor your heart out, you know? Yeah. Wow. So stuff like that. I like it. And I just brought that up because the ones for The Matrix are so much more abstract, and there's just so much more alienating, and that makes it more fun. And so... Let me tell you, there's some track lists for The Matrix, which goes like this. One track is called Bow Whisk Orchestra. Nassant Nauseous Neo. Cold Hearted Switch.
40:35And then there's a... There's one track called Boons Boy. Oh, it's Boon Boy? Yeah. And now, listen to this. Here are some tracks from The Matrix soundtrack, and tell me what... What these things have in common. Okay, there's a track called Switch or Break Show. Shake, borrow, switch. Switch walks her boa. Switch out. Whoa. Switch brokers. I don't get it. Why so many Switches? All of those tracks, except for one, because I messed that one up, all of them are an anagram of Wachowski Brothers. Really? Yeah. Whoa.
41:16And then... Switches, Switches, yeah. Switch or Break Show. Shake, borrow, switch. Switch walks her boa. Switch. And then, whoa, switch brokers. Wachowski Brothers. Oh, okay. You mean if you switch around the letters? Yeah, that's an anagram. And then, there's also anagrams of this. Exit Mr. Hat, Threat Mix, Mix the Art. Matrix. Yes. The Matrix. Oh. So there you go. You can make from The Matrix is Exit Mr. Hat? The Matrix. Yeah. Okay, that's cool. Yeah, Exit Mr. Hat is The Matrix, not just Matrix, but The Matrix, yeah. So those are some tracks.
41:56And then there's some really cool ones, like Ontological Shock. Ooh, that sounds nice. Because we have a title for our show. Exit Mr. Hat. Oh, yes. That's the show. The agent show. That is the show. Exit Mr. Hat. That sounds perfect. Like a little piano intro. Let's just wait until the next Matrix sequel comes out, and then people will love The Matrix again, and we'll pitch it. We'll pitch it to the studio. Exit Mr. Hat. Everybody listening, shh, quiet. Okay, don't steal this. If you like us, don't steal it, please. All right. And that's all I have to talk about for this Matrix Minute. If you're an animator, we'll vouch for you. What about, what about,
42:36there were promises on Wednesday, the promises of 1996. Let's put in the Christmas holiday jolly 1996 jingle. Let's let it play out. Come on, guys. Play us off, Santa. And we're back. Oh, good one, Santa. Nice work on those little balls. Yeah. The balls. You're shaking the balls. Balls to bones. Yeah. Yep. Phil, tell us. All right. Bring us into the zone. Okay, 1996 draft. I waited this long because the entire scene is, I could just explain it to you. There's really nothing very different
43:18with what they're saying, but it's a lot shorter. So I'm going to just, I'm just going to, you know, I'm just going to read it and we're going to see, just to give you a feeling on how short this Oracle meeting would be. If you guys remember, the Oracle's chamber, there was this huge, like, Grecian or Greek. Greek. Fine. Grecian sounds so much better. I think, I think Grecian. Is the modern Greek? No, no. Modern is Greek. I think maybe you're thinking ancient. Maybe they might have said Grecian, but I don't know. Okay, whatever. It's like this. Is that like a language? It's like this. It looks like a big, remember when he enters it using the Zion codes, access codes, he gets in and there's this big temple, right?
43:59And it's empty. No one's there, but it looks ancient and Greek and whatever you want to call it. Neo goes through it, right? And it's just, it's nothing, nothing like the matrix and everything. Then he hears a voice and he goes up the stairs. The throne is empty, nothing's there and he goes through a little door because that's where the sound's coming from where this lady's just, just come on in and he comes in. It's just like the kitchen, like in the movie, right? In the final film. And there we go. That's the Oracle scene. Now here we go. There's a lot of cozy furniture, a dining room, hutch filled with china, shelves and tables crowded with doilies, knickknacks and ceramic bric-a-brac. Like I've said before, Neo follows the plastic carpet runner to the kitchen. A woman is huddled beside the oven, peering inside
44:39through the cracked door. Hello? I know you're Neo. Be right with you. You're the Oracle? Bingo. Got to say, I love seeing you non-believers. It's really a relief. All that pomp and circumstances just plain tucker me out. Almost done. Smell good, don't they? Oh yeah. I'd ask you to sit down, but you're not going to anyway. And don't worry, don't worry about the vase. What vase? We all know this, right? He turns and looks around and his elbow knocks a vase from the table and breaks skin through an open floor. That vase. Oh shit, I'm sorry. Really? Yeah. Okay, keep going. She pulls out a tray
45:20of chocolate chip cookies. And she is an older woman wearing big oven mitts, comfortable slacks and a print blouse. She looks like someone's grandma. And then, to be honest, the whole thing goes on like it does. Bake your noodle. Still a broken, a certain thing. You're cuter than I thought. I can see why she likes you. Oracle goes, not too bright though. And she winks. Ding! You know why Morpheus brought you to see me? I think so. And Oracle says, so what do you think? You think you're the one? Neo says, I don't know. She gestures, gestures, gestures, right? Gestures to a wooden plaque. The kind every grandma has, except that the words are in Latin. Know thyself, right? And then she says,
46:03it means know thyself. And then she goes, let's have a look at you. Already, right? She widens his eyes, checks his ears, feels the glands in his neck. Open your mouth, say ah, blah, blah, blah. She nods, then looks at his palms. Hmm, you got the gift, but it's tricky. I'd say the bad news is, you're not the one. Still got a lot to learn. Maybe next life. Yeah, that's clear. Oh, that's a lot clearer. So then, so she's basically saying, you might be the one if you learn some more stuff, but right now you're not. So it's the cookie, the cookie guy's theory is confirmed. Yeah, maybe next life. And then Neo goes, what's the good news? Same as the bad news.
46:43You're not the one. Oh, super clear. Yeah. And then Neo goes, is that it then? And Oracle goes, no, here, she picks up a tray of cooling cookies. You better take a cookie. Got a big day ahead of you. Oh, this is the confirmation of the control. I'm thinking that Cookie Master's right. And then he eyes her, then takes a cookie. And Oracle goes, make a believer out of you yet. Eat the cookie. The cookie. The cookie. Put that cookie down, Neo. Put that cookie down. And then interior antechamber in the Matrix. So that's that big hallway. And then Morpheus rises from a bench as the priestess
47:23escorts Neo out. It's already done. The whole Oracle scene is done. See, there was nothing about, you'll have Morpheus's life in your hands. Nothing like that. What is this? What is this? This is confusing now. Yeah? What? Let's just make this, this is confusing. Like, well, I thought we're done. We're over. We're done with the Oracle. We've figured everything out. But this changes everything. She's clearly telling him he's not the one. Maybe he could be the one, but he's not. Well, listen, there's some more conversation with Morpheus. Sorry, sorry, I'm sorry. Morpheus rises from a bench as the priestess escorts Neo out. When they are alone, Morpheus puts his hand on Neo's shoulder. I've always loved you. No. Um, Morpheus goes, you don't have to tell me
48:04anything, Neo, because I already know what she said. And Neo goes, you do? I brought you so that you could hear it for yourself. I knew it would help. Neo finishes his cookie. No one will ever ask you because it is a gift from her. It is for you and you alone. There we go. City street exterior. Day. Storm clouds shroud the streets. So there's some little storm clouds. Little clouds. That's it? Is that it? Yeah, that's about it. Of course. Wow. So just in this version. I'm just a little bit now wondering like we were making fun of the cookie theorists. Yeah. The cookie theorists maybe had it all along. Maybe they were right. But I think that
48:44during the process of making this they made it much better. So here's a good question. I don't know if they did. I mean, they made it more ambiguous. Let's forget the cookies. Let's forget the cookies. Yeah, let's forget about those. Let's pretend she doesn't give it. Let's pretend she doesn't give him a cookie. And she just goes, make a believer out of you yet. So I think in this version it's a lot clearer that I mean, it's almost the same. I don't, Tim, I think it's similar. It's very similar but this is much more direct. Like, I think we had to think and go around it to figure out what she was saying. But we arrived at the same point with this is as that she's like,
49:24but no, but this is more you're not the one. This isn't. Yeah, but I think the Oracle knows. She's just telling that to Neo so Neo will follow the path. Yeah, the outcome is the same. She says a bunch of stuff but Neo does what he wants and Morpheus keeps believing. It's the same, exactly the same outcome except I think we're just, we're just, what's problematic for us is the wording. The wording, you've got the gift is what, if that was different, it's what's confusing us. Everything else would make sense. Huh. All right. Yeah, it's a bit strange. All right, well, Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. No, it's not Christmas yet. Merry Christmas indeed. By the way, what's today's date? Happy holidays.
50:05Today is... Today is... The 15th. The 15th. December. Yes. Remember... You're not going to listen to this podcast, you're just going to be watching Star Wars. Eh, you know, you have to still travel to the theater. Right. You're going to put something on in the car. Well, you know what? I'm kind of, you know, I'm excited to see Star Wars because it's episode eight. It's not that Rogue One stuff. Yeah, it's not the B-roll. Yeah, the B-roll. Benchformer, benchformer. I think, I think I was excited for this one
50:47up until I saw the promotional stuff. I think I'm a little bit less excited, I would say. Yeah, well, I tried not to see the promotionals. I just, I think I've seen the first trailer, the one. back you promotionals. Back, But yeah, I think I've seen, I didn't see the second one, I think, I don't know. Maybe. I don't know. I just, I just know that these trailers, they trick people these days. Yeah, they trick people and then they reveal too much as well. No, to me, it wasn't, it wasn't, it was basically, I think I have, I had a, I had a idea where I would want it to go and this doesn't seem to be shaping up the direction that I would like it to go. So that's why I'm like, I'm still excited to go see it, but I'm like, eh,
51:27this isn't necessarily what I wanted, where I wanted to go. Well, that's weird because I have no idea, I have no idea what I'm going to see. That's awesome. It's good. It's going to be, it's going to be some talking. I have some, like, ideas. I have like, the typical one is like, Luke is going to be Darkseid or something or, you know, like between, and I think that's just too obvious and it's not going to. I don't even care about that stuff. They're going to do a lot of switcheroo stuff, I think, within the film. Like, it won't be just, this is this, this is it. They'll be switching around while you're watching the film. By the way, thanks for listening to the Matrix Minute. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, the Matrix Minute. What are we doing? Yeah, well, check out the other thing if it comes out. check out the Star Wars one, Yeah, not podcast.phildragish.com. I'll put it on the Facebook anyway. Yeah. All right, you guys have a nice weekend.
52:09Enjoy yourselves. Yeah, enjoy the snow if you have it. Prepped up for the holidays. Make some snowmen. Hopefully, everyone's schedules works out and you get to have a jolly old time with family and friends. Yes. Or with your fellow agents, if that's your thing. Maybe they'll come and visit you for Christmas because they have nothing to do. Oh, the Exit Mr. Hat Christmas special. TV show, we'll pitch that. Agent Brown gets everyone Christmas presents. Billions and millions. I just want to see it. I just want to see it made, honestly. I want to see it on YouTube. Now. I want to click it and watch it. Yeah, like Carl Pilkington, the Ricky Javir show, that kind of style animation.
52:49I was thinking more like angley. No more angley. More angley. Oh yeah, that's true. You got to get those chins. Yeah, yeah, dude, like it has to be very... Oh, like, like, let's say the style of Powerpuff Girls. They got some good chins there. Yes, I was going to say something like that. Oh, like very flat. Yeah, yes, very flat. That'd be awesome. So yeah, if you're listening and you're an amazing person who knows how to voice act this, animate it, and then produce it. If you're an animator, oh my goodness, release it. Even just a sample clip would be like, it would be like, indeed forever. Can we have like 10 episodes, please? That'd be amazing. Anyway, thank you everyone for listening
53:30and putting up with our crazy tangents these past episodes. But it was fun. I had fun. Hope you had fun too. And we'll catch you, obviously, as usually, as usually, as usual, next week. Next week. Ah! Ha ha ha ha! Bye bye.
