But, another woman opens the door before he gets in. How many times have I said door? Tells them Neo is right on time. Morpheus makes himself at home, and Neo walks to the lobby, seeing children and teenagers in the waiting room, and a weird lady with a baby that we never see. The lady tells Neo to wait with the other potentials. Never see again. Right? Again. Yeah. That we never see again. What do you want from me? That's what I thought. What do you want from me? Okay, so he says she can help you find the path.

7:40So, do you think this makes Neo, you know, just any guy become the one, or like we discussed before? The moth? He could be anybody. The one could be you, me, anyone, if you just find the path. I don't know. I don't know. Let me hear what he's saying again. What? Like, the... Wait, wait, wait. Just believing that he is the one, the mind, in the Matrix, can bend and break all the rules, and you just become the... Because everyone can do these things. I don't think he's talking specifically about the one. I think he's talking about the questions that Neo had before about the Oracle. How does she work? Is she like, she sees the future, and she tells you, this is when it's going to happen?

8:22And Morpheus is trying to explain, no, there's not right or wrong, or like the... What's going to happen? She kind of sees where it's going, and then she helps you. She gives you the exact words that put you on that path, and then you have to kind of walk that path, you know? She's... It's like a therapist. She like instigates whatever is in the world that needs to, you know? Yeah, she's like Guru in Dragon Ball Z, who, you know, unlocks people's hidden potential. You shall have the potential. Nail! Come here and wipe my feet. You mean Lilligreen? Lilligreen. We'll call you Lilligreen. Okay. Anyway. And then Neo asks...

9:04Okay. Important question. Because he keeps asking everyone, did you go to the... That was an important question. He's like the kid. Did you go to the... What did she tell you? What did she tell you? It's like worried little kid when you go into the dentist. And when Morpheus smiles and the door opens, here's a little bit of a blooper, I think. The reflections of Morpheus's glasses show the pattern from the lower floor. So it's like they didn't go anywhere. That's okay. Sorry to break the illusion there, but yeah. Well, they're on the wrong floor for a second and then it cuts and then, whoa, the elevator goes three miles a second. Yeah. And they're on the top floor. That's okay. Here's the thing. Here's my big question. It's not a question, actually.

9:45It's just an observation. Back to my childhood. Come back with me to my childhood. Come back to your childhood. I always wondered, is what the Oracle tells you, is that supposed to be a secret? That's all I could think of when I was a kid. Oh, okay. I was like, ooh. Like, do you... Are you supposed to tell somebody that you were told? Will that like break something? Will that be like inappropriate or will that be... I don't think the Oracle, but the rules are... Can't tell anyone. Exactly. What's for you is for you alone. You know why? Don't show anyone. That's probably because of, you know, classical birthday wishes. Like, oh, or you see a shooting star, you do a wish and you can't tell anyone because then the wish won't come true. So maybe that's the logic you were thinking. Exactly.

10:25I think that was the logic I was thinking. And also the logic I think I was applying was if you tell somebody what the Oracle told you, what the Oracle told you has less effect or could potentially ruin the quote unquote prophecy because you were divulging it. So the paths then are crumpled. I think that was Eddie's mistake. I told everyone, guys, guys, I'm the one. Comes back. Look who's here. O-N-E. Eddie the one. I mean, with the... From now on, you can tell me you won. Yeah. You're one of the ones. So I just want to mention once again that I just love the cinematography here.

11:05I love, you know, the hallway and I love how both of them are standing at the door. Everything is so symmetrical and so beautiful. I'll just... It's one of my favorite parts. Like, look at that. Symmetry. Everywhere. That. And then before that, when they get out of the elevator. Isn't this... I love that apartment area. Oh. This style is very much like Roger Deacon, no? What do you mean? Well, Tim wouldn't agree. No. If you look at the shot of them in the hallway, that's basically a Roger Deacon shot, no? The lighting isn't a Roger Deacon's lighting, definitely. Better time with the framing. Sure, sure. It's a wide kind of thing put in a narrow space. It's definitely nice. And just the symmetry. Making a silver picture.

11:46Yeah, yeah. There's congruity between both sides. Definitely the symmetry, yes, is what he's talking about. It's very nice. It's framed quite symmetrical. I love it so much. It's delish. What I was getting at is that Neo asks Morpheus, Morpheus, what did she tell you? And he just flat out... I thought you were going to ask Morpheus what's for breakfast. What kind of cake do you like, Morpheus? Bacon. And he straights out and says, I like... Freak cake. No, he goes... Monster. I like... Sache tota. I like this Sache tota. No, he's like, what did she tell you? And he's like, she told me I would find the one. And... I will find the one for you. I'm just thinking about this right now. He comes in and he's like, what do you have for me? And she's like, you'll find the one. And that's it.

12:27Or did she... And then when he's sitting there first time, he just goes... It's like a Christmas... Do you know what I think? Yeah. I think the scene would pan out this way. So Morpheus walks in. The Oracle's smoking, obviously. They have talks. They have long talks. I know, but this is just one of their talks. And this is when Morpheus finally... And I'm telling you that the Oracle is ordering Morpheus to get her groceries every time. Is that plausible? That sounds like a wonderful thing to do. So he comes back with two brown bags. Yeah. And he goes... And she told her that today was going to be the day when she finally tells him her prophecy or her... When he comes a bunch of times and it's like, not today. I don't feel right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

13:07Stuff like that. I can see that. Like the master. Just tricking. Yeah. And so finally... So Morpheus in this situation, before she tells him the prophecy, he's sort of like the apprentice, right? But later, he becomes an equal. And he comes there one day and he knows it's the day she's going to tell him. And she's smoking and drinking her lemonade and stuff. And she... You can tell she's like... She knows Morpheus is sort of... He's so tenacious and annoying about this one stuff that she doesn't really even want to tell him that much. You know? Like she's sort of like... It's this thing that she has to do and like tell him and she's not really into it. And so finally, she's just like, all right, here it is. Yeah, you'll find it. Yeah. Yeah.

13:49You'll find it. And Morpheus is like... You know the smile that he had when he looked at Neo in the car? Yeah. Well... And he says, thank you. And he puts the glasses on. And then Propellerhead start playing. Boom, boom, boom, boom. And then he's like so happy when he calls Tank. Tank? Well, if Morpheus is one of the fruit... Double portions of goop today. Yeah. I think Morpheus... Restaurant 41, here we go. Was probably, you know, the beginning and stuff. So she'll probably like warm him up more with the prophecies first, explain everything, and then the end, like the, you know, cherry on top go. Yes. But here's a... My question is very... Ties in with one of our listeners wrote on Facebook. Kyle was asking, you know...

14:30Kyle Drogo. Hi, Kyle. Hi, Kyle Drogo. You know, how do we... You know, what is the one? How is it described? I think the exact question is, is there any indication in the script about what makes the one actually the one? And this ties in with my question to when she tells Morpheus, you'll find the one, does she just tell him that? Or does she explain who the one is? Like, how does he look for the one? You know, does she give him a description? Does she say what were the attributes or any of that stuff? You know, like how will he find the one? Or just say like, just look for the smartest hacker in the universe and you'll find the one. Well, we'll talk about that in the script section today, my friends.

15:12I feel good. I feel good. We'll get some answers. So when Morpheus says that I will find the one, I thought, well, good job, Morpheus. I guess you spoiled your secret. Morpheus. And I thought like when I was a kid. Oh, threw it. Wish we were in. Okay. And that confused me then. I confused me like, okay, so I guess it's not. But then why wouldn't everyone say their secret then? I don't know. The mind of a child. We can go to the scene at hand now as they walk through the corridor. The wonderful corridor. So cool. So matrixy. Just matrix. Full of the matrix. How about this one? When they walk into the Nebuchadnezzar, Morpheus is like, here's the, over here is the chart.

15:52You know, like a whiteboard. Please fill in what the oracle told you. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like the chart. We can discuss this. We can see the whole crew. And he's like, oh, Trinity. This is an interesting one. If. That you will fall in love with the one. Yeah, yeah. What's this about, Trinity? What do you think? And then he takes little stickers out of his drawer. For the be-eddy. Little stars. Wait, does Morpheus know about that? Does he know that Trinity will fall in love with one and that's his indicator? That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. If there's no whiteboard. Are you in love, Trinity? Huh? Is he beautiful? And then every week, for some reason, inexplicably, Morpheus' stars keep increasing.

16:34Why is this happening? It's like, he has like 50 stars. And Cypher goes, I don't remember you. It's all to give you a goal to strive for. One day you will be this good. Come on, guys. Like me. Have you seen me in the jumping program? Huh? So anyway, they stand in front of the door. Oh yes, classic. Another wonderful symmetrical shot. And by the way, just if you wanted to know, the door number is C960. C960. C, the letter C, 960. Huh. I don't know. And there's indecipherable graffiti. Hmm. Or subliminal messages. There's a no, I think. Mo. Well, there's a no, yeah.

17:14Mall. Or mall. C960. Coaxial table. Cable. That's definitely the one. Yeah. Cell C960. That's how they jack into the matrix. Now comes the classic, I can only show you the door. You're the one who has to walk through it. Here's the funny thing. Ready? Mm-hmm. Actually, I kind of like this now, looking at it now. That Morpheus meant it figuratively when they were in the dojo. But here he's sort of referencing himself. Oh, yeah, yeah. Like the actual. Here's the door. He's a cheeky little bugger. There's a literal door. You can walk through it. Yeah. Interesting. Absolutely.

17:55And then comes the infamous reflection shot. Yes. Guys, let's just talk about this. If you have your film on your player of choice, please, please, this is a mandatory viewing in our opinion. Because, yeah, when we found this out, like. Freeze frame. Seven years ago. Freeze frame your. Blu-ray player preferable. At the close-up of the doorknob. The reflective doorknob. If you freeze frame it there, especially if you're watching, preferably. Blu-ray. HD. Yeah. Version of the film. You will see. In the left corner. A bag. A leather bag. With a little lens.

18:36Peeking through the middle of it. And I think they sort of style it up to disguise it as Morpheus's coat. Yes. If they do that, then one side looks like Morpheus's coat. One side has the green tie. Yes. But the left side is completely not part of the suit at all. And so, I think if you were watching. Remember, we didn't notice for years. Did you guys notice this by yourself? Yes. Oh, really? You actually noticed this by yourself? I can still remember the time we did that and we paused and then we just looked at it for one second. It's amazing. Yeah. It's in plain sight. Yeah. Yeah. It's hidden in plain sight. There's the lens. There's nothing over the lens. There's no, you know, matte box.

19:17It's just a naked lens. I think they're covering the whole camera with the leather bag or whatever that is. Yeah. But yeah, just the lens that's like a circular, you know. It looks like a DSLR camera lens. It does. It looks like Morpheus is going to shoot someone. It's just so interesting because this stuff is so easily fixable. Nowadays, yeah. In digital. Yeah. In the digital domain. I'm pretty sure it was fixable even then, you know. I know. Just put a black matte over it. And it'll be, you know. It'll be looking weird, but it wouldn't be like a lens. I mean, really, I think you'd solve this with the composite shot, like blue screening stuff. Also, you can see a nice fluorescent light that they used for the lighting. For lighting. Yeah. Yeah.

19:57Also, are those screws really like that? Because I don't think doors have these kinds of open screws like that. What do you mean? Open? What do you mean? Look how bare those screws are. They're just like... Some ugly doors do. Yeah. Yeah, you know. Utility. Depending on the quality. Somebody broke in, so they had to just get one from the store. And just like... Well, they're going to shout out to Daniel. That was Morpheus' last job. Shout out to Danny for posting this before we decided to talk about it. Shout out to Danny. But we knew about this a long time ago. So... It still counts, but... I give myself a sticker on my... Whiteboard. Your prophecy board. And Morpheus steals the stickers and adds it to his... Yes.

20:38My prophecy is the best. I just love that shot. I just love it. So, before he opens the door, this woman comes in and opens it for him as if she was expecting him. And... So, this Australian woman trying to do a southern accent, she's... I thought she was doing a British accent. She's supposed to do an American. You can hear like... Like, hello, Neo. Come with me. You're right on time. Oh, yeah. She was like going, you're right on time. But before that, she was going... Oh, right, oh, right, oh, right on time. She was like, hello, Neo. I guess because when she went like... Yeah, the potentials. It sounded a little bit British. I never noticed it. You noticed what? This different accent. Oh, yeah.

21:19Like weird. I love the green doors, by the way. I love all this set, to be honest. Like, all of this was built for the film. Like, the art design is just way too precise to not have been built for the film. And, like, you can't find this in any location. And, like, the door, it's nice and green. And, you know, so it's like that. And also the lady who plays the priestess over there, her name is Denny Gordon. And she was also production designer. No, not production designer. Production manager. No way. On Babe. I thought The Matrix was like, The Babe. On Babe. Yeah, that's interesting. It's, I think... Hello, Neo. Come with me. I just want to add that, like I was saying last episode, I just love that.

22:01And it's a good reveal for the audience when they're watching the first time. Because there's the Oracle and it's a great prophecy and everything. And you're just sort of like this project type of building, you know, where the sort of Laura Klaus lives. And then you walk in and it's nothing grand. And it's just an apartment with a bunch of kids. And I don't know where they got this. I don't know where they got this from. Or which other maybe anime or movie use this kind of concept. You know, they're kind of, you know, they set you up for something else and then reveal it differently. And it's just... Because I was definitely like anticipating something grand. And I think Neo was too. He was making a palace. Yes.

22:41He's expecting the Zion palace. We'll talk about something. And Neo would have to go up the steps, you know, for days. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like buckets of water on his shoulder. Do this three times. Once every Sunday. For the rest of the month. You thought it would be easy, Neo. You're stuck in the Matrix for the next week, two weeks. Carrying buckets. Be careful. Look out for agents. Yeah. So Denny Gordon. That's who the priestess lady is. That's interesting to know. When they're in the walk-in hallway there. And she's like, make yourself at home, Morpheus. Neo. Come with me. I like that. See, this indicates that Morpheus hangs out here sometimes. Yeah. He makes himself at home. Because it's not like, it's like Morpheus, oh, we haven't seen you in years.

23:25Oh, after bringing five ones. How's Eddie? Dude, you should be a danger. Yeah. We have some crazy good stuff to talk about today on the Matrix. Scripts, dude. Wait, it's going to be some good stuff. I have a line. The lady goes, Eddie? And she makes a face at Morpheus. Morpheus looks down and she knows. She's asked about the other ones. And every time Morpheus doesn't speak, she knows. Yeah. So anyway, we walk into... Are you the next potential? And he was like, yeah, I think I might be the one. Okay, come with me. Look at that. So when we're walking into this hallway, what do we see? We see some glasses, some cups, some shelf.

24:08It's a very regular looking apartment. It's nice and clean. I bet these copper... Not really paintings, but, you know, ornaments. Relics. Yeah. With a weird Greek looking lady with a baby. Mm-hmm. Is she Greek looking? Never see her ever again. I mean, she's not Greek. She just has a blanket on her because of the baby. I don't think that's part of her garb. Or no, it is. It is. Never mind. Never mind. I thought it was a blanket. I'm not sure. He's holding a blanket like a child. Branket. Brankets. But anyway, look at all the potentials. Look at that teenager, and then there's this younger child, and then there's some more kids.

24:53The young X-Men. And how do you feel when you saw this room? I was a little bit weirded out the first time. I was like, what is going on here? Yeah, yeah. Tim, no? I don't remember. I just remember loving all of this, you know? Oh, that's great. But that could have been after a couple of watchings. I don't remember what was my initial reaction. And they're all wearing white. Do you see that? They're all kind of wearing white. That one kid over, the oldest one over there, the girl with the laptop. What's she doing? Doing some major hacking? But wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, okay. Chatting on AOLs? So the Oracle's after the one as well, and she's saying these are the other potentials. Yes. Is she looking for her own one? I don't know what's going on here. I never thought that at all. I really thought that the Oracle, okay, here's my theory.

25:34The Oracle is like a local, really like some kind of counselor slash therapist. But I think that it's something even more special because I always imagined that some of these people, they discovered some abilities they had, which were extra, I guess you could say like supernatural, so to speak. Remember, we will see later in some scenes them doing different. Now, what that could be, I don't know. It could be something, I don't know, spiritual or something. But the point is that they go and see, or they're directed to the Oracle to get further guidance how to, you know, further their path, whatever that is.

26:18And so that to me always opened up like a new story within the Matrix that it's not as simple as just a blank slate world that's a replica of the human Earth. I always thought that there's deeper things going on in the Matrix that we don't know about, like people discovering stuff. Like this girl playing chess with herself. Sort of like inner worlds of the Matrix that are beyond what we experience in normal life, because there's the ability to manipulate the Matrix. And that again could be viewed in different ways. So is she just like protecting them and like, you know, teaching them? Yeah, exactly. Like she found out and like maybe the parents freaked out. Like, oh, our baby's a witch. Yeah, exactly. The Oracle came. Things like that. Why does she call them the potentials then?

26:59I don't know. Potential because I think that they have potential, no? To be the one? To what? To be the one? To further their abilities. It's like the X-Men. Oh, right. But like you call them the gifted or, you know, the talented, not the potentials. Potential means they're going to be something. They might be something. Exactly. New Oracles? They might be world leaders. They might be. Okay. They might be. What? They might be. Listen, they might be. The wizard. Yeah. The agents were like, oh, the president is floating rocks and bending spoons. They might be life coaches. They might own businesses. So that mediocre. Sorry. I know. Bad example. Or is it? Is it? Like that? No, no, no, no. The talent potential librarian. It could be that mundane. Ooh, books are floating.

27:41To stay away from the agents. You know? Exactly. So there's this kid. There's better talent than that. No, I think she's looking for the one herself. She doesn't trust Morpheus enough. So she's doing her own mission. In the background. Oh, yeah. You know, you gotta. And so did you notice, did you notice that no one was there, like in Matrix Revolutions and Reloaded? I know we're going to the sequels. This stuff isn't there. Shooting ourselves in the leg. Oh, I'm sorry. Philip. I forgot about that again.
