0:00Welcome to the Matrix Minute, a podcast where we discuss the first film one minute at a time. And this time we... I love everybody. This time we... I love everybody. I love you guys. Thank you for making it this far, especially with Minute 69. Oh, Minute 69? This is the famous one. Oh, is this the sexy one? Yeah. This is the one that came in just for you. We begin with some sexual tension with Neo and Trinity as Neo. Keanu and Morpheus. Lawrence Fishburne and Neo. That's what I meant to say. Yeah, exactly. Hi, everybody. How are you doing today? This is a great week. Hi, how's it going? Tim, how's it going? It's pretty good.
0:41It's pretty good. Do we reveal secrets or not? Are you just checking your phone or what? Yeah, I'm checking my phone. For any new Matrix news, any hot new Matrix news? This just in, the Matrix is still popular, apparently. What does that mean, still popular? It keeps popping up on Reddit all the time. Well, that's great, man. That's awesome. Well, where can we link our podcast? That's beautiful. Where is that from? Everybody, please do your part. And if you're an American citizen, go on and contact your representative to tell them how important that neutrality is. Oh, yeah. That's happening. Don't be the Americans in your problem. Don't be the Americans in your corrupted government.
1:22Make it free. Yeah, it's bad. It ain't my problem. I didn't vote for anybody. I didn't vote for you. That's true. But I will tell you that from now on, I will be very... Politically active. Politically active in my local, wherever I will be in the States, if I'll ever be in the States, in my local region. I just know that I'm voting... The local region is probably... I'm voting in the midterms. Anyway, we're not going to go political. Oh, yeah, yeah. No, no, no. There was another on Reddit, top post on Reddit, did you know something, something. I think it was the... Was the camera one again? I don't know. It was one of those things that we covered like as trivia. And it was again, it was like on top of the professionals.
2:02Anyway, with Nexin Trally, I think it should be a non-political issue. It is a issue of having internet. And that's an important thing. I don't know about you guys, but I think internet should be just, you know, just like a... A utility. Non-private utility. Exactly. I agree. I think most people would agree. I mean... Yeah. Anyway, we're not going into politics. This is a matrix. But without it, we wouldn't be able to make such a wonderful podcast. That is a very good point. And that's what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah, perhaps. I'm saying that it's an issue that should not be political. It should be... Yeah. ...universal. Some countries have it even worse. I mean, I know some countries in Africa or South America, they don't actually have proper providers. Like, they have like, you know, just like phone providers, internet. And Facebook is...
2:43Or any other sort of like social company is actually providing the internet in a way. So they know internet only through Facebook. That's it. Well, did you... Oh, right. Facebook is internet. Right. Did you know Elon Musk is planning to do the satellite? And AI is going to come and destroy us all because we're in the matrix. Also, those amazing robots from Boston Dynamics. Boston Dynamics. They'll do 360 no-scopes on all of us. Oh, man, yes. They'll be carrying the internet in packages. Internet for you. Internet for you. Anyway. Do you want to see me do a backflip? I can do this perfectly. But then, do you want me to sort your mail? I'm afraid I'll fail.
3:25Not anymore. Don't take away the books. That was lame. Don't hurt the postman. Welcome to Minute 69. Welcome. I will describe to you what happens in Minute 69. I will help you read the description. Minute 69. In the car, Neo coaxes Trinity to explain what the oracle told her. But the car stops as they pass by a blind man in the lobby of the apartment complex and into the elevator, moving up to see the oracle. Neo asks if this is the same oracle that made the same prophecy. Morpheus says that she is, and that she's very old, and has been with them since the
4:07beginning. They continue talking about the oracle until Morpheus tells Neo, try not to think of it as right and wrong. She is a guide, Neo. She is a guide. And that's how Minute ends. That's a good minute. That's a lot of stuff in one minute. I never noticed the music there. Yeah. Everything's here. Look at this. It's visual. I like... Visual. So from the bat, let's just start with the music we all kind of mentioned. Off the bat. Off the bat? Yeah, right off the bat. Off the bat, man. Right off the bat. Let's start talking about the music because I think we just started mentioning that. That little keyboard organ at the beginning when, right after Morpheus and Neo walk out
4:50of the car and into the apartment lobby. And then when he turns the button on for the elevator and goes up and then you have the same repetitive motion going, but with strings and, you know, more acoustic elements. Yeah, we haven't talked about music for a long time to think about it. I think we mentioned music. I think our ratio is like... Last episode. Is like one to... Two episodes ago. One to 50. Three episodes ago. That's our ratio. Yeah, but we did mention when it was the soundtrack stuff. Like, no, I mean, sorry, not the soundtrack. Like, the music. I mean, guys, I could go on and on about the score, but... You stopped me. We should have a new score section. Yeah. Go on, then. Go on. We need a guest who is a...
5:32I know just the man. What's Tabitha? Tabitha. I know just the man. We know just the man. Oh, we do. I will call him. It depends. It has to be a good section. Yeah, we should... You'll call him? Yes. You call him. I will. I'll call him. Perfect. Music man! Music man, come here! Okay. Mr. Music. Anyway, let's talk about this minute. All right. So... So Trinity kind of turns away. A little bit of sexual tension going on in minute 69. Exactly. Where she kind of just... He's like, what? And she's kind of like, what? Do you call that sexual tension? She remembers. Yeah, she's like, spicy. And I'm turning away. I must not give in to temptation for now. Yeah, yeah. She's thinking the same thing. Everyone says, not so bright though.
6:13That's right. Neo's and his questions all the time. So we're meeting the Oracle now. Neo reminds me of myself. Yeah. Yeah. You are the one. And then... Questions and direct answers needed. So the car stops, thankfully, because, you know, last time we were talking about this, Trinity kind of was like, oh, this can't stop any sooner. So Morpheus is just like, Neo, come with me. Let's go. We're here. How long do you think they traveled? No, you know, he says, Morpheus says, Neo, like, you know, hold the hand of your chaperone. Like, you know, come with me. Make sure you're... That's such a lame joke.
6:54It was supposed to be like a joke where, like, you know, like... Wait, wait, wait. It was supposed to be a joke where Neo is supposed to be like, he can't handle things on his own. So he has to be cared for every step of the way. It's a dangerous place, the Matrix. The best jokes are the ones that are explained. What did you say, Tim? The best jokes are the jokes that are happy. Yeah, of course. Same with the best promises. They're ones that you don't have to keep. Yeah. I think when they were... When they were driving... When... No. Okay, what? We cut to, you know, Neo going, I used to eat that. I think they were driving for at least, like, a solid 10 minutes of just quiet, you know, just silence in the car. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just enjoying it.
7:34Until Neo was, like, 10 minutes was thinking, how do I open up, you know, Trinity? How am I going to say this? Well, and plus, because remember, did you notice... Trinity, nice jacket, nice dress. No, that's too forward. When he points at the noodles, the noodle shop is already gone by the time his finger's up. It's just like he doesn't even... He's pointing, but it's like, it doesn't put exactly to the shop. It's just like this street in general. Well, like we said, by the way, guess what I had today? Noodles. Noodles. With duck. Noodle noodles. Wow. Stir fried to goodness. Goodness levels. So, here's the question now. As they're walking into the apartment lobby, before we talk about that, let's talk about
8:14what Trinity and Cypher are doing as they have to drop them off. What do they do? Do they stand there and wait? Yes. And awkwardly stare at each other? No, no, no. They stare in front of the road and they just sit there. You turned to a robot for a second there. I think, or they could just, you know, park the car and wait in the car. Smoke break. Yeah. Cypher probably. Cypher probably, yeah, yeah. He smokes. Oh, man. Imagine that. Another thing to think about in the Matrix, if you're addicted to cigarettes or something in the Matrix and you can't have it in the real world. Oh, you're right. Well, we have confirmed that Cypher occasionally smokes the cigar. Oh, that's right.
8:55Well, that depends. I mean, you're just two things. You're addicted to the habit, which is brain-wise, and you're addicted to nicotine. And I wonder if nicotine... That's a good point. Because if you never had nicotine in the Matrix... Or do they, if you smoke a cigarette in the Matrix, do they pump nicotine into your blood or do they just like simulate in your brain? Only brain. It has to be all mental. Because think about all the complex chemicals that would have to concoct in the labs. Right. Every single intake of something. That's two incense. It's all mental. But it still has a brain addiction to doing it. Like an activity that's always there. So maybe that's what Cypher does. Like every night he plugs into the Matrix for his...
9:37For a smoke. For a smoke. Got to plug in. And then he finds a really dodgy back alley. Because it's cool there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's where they started meeting him and Agent Smith. Ah. Like, you know, Agent Smith, like one time passed by, he was like, agent. And Cypher's thinking, I could run? Or I could be like, what's up? And the agent's like, I think I know you. Yeah, I can't remember. I can't remember. So I think I know you. And then they start talking like, you know what? Can I talk to you? I have this problem. Go on. And, you know, many years later down the road, here we are.
10:19Yeah. Nine years. Things can happen in nine years, you know? Yeah. So here's a question. One thing leads to another. One thing leads to another. Nine years ago. I think it would be like a year ago. You know, after a steak and dinner and then a romantic evening with the agent. Yeah. Anything's possible. Anything is possible. I wanted to say that there is a photo of Cypher or, you know, Joey Pants in the driver's seat in the car with a cheesy grin. Oh, you found it? So it's confirmed. He's driving, right? Yeah, he's driving. I mean, like, there's a photo of him. Should we post that? Lylan. I already posted it when Joey Pants' birthday happened in September. That's him driving in the car? That's right. All right. And let's go into the lobby now.
11:00And here's a wonderful thing I just want to tell you. This minute, you're in for some great script treats because there's some crazy good script stuff going on in the 1996 version that is nowhere to be seen in this one. This one is a condensed version. And I think that this blind man that we see in the hotel lobby. Hotel. What am I talking about? In the apartment complex lobby. He might be a remnant of this older script. Interesting. What do you mean? Are we going to get to that in the 96? Yeah, we're going to get that in the 96. Oh, okay. Can I do predictions? Yeah. I'm going to predict he's like a guard.
11:40I'm going to predict he's like a sent... He's like guarding... Because he's just sitting there as a blind man. Because you have glasses and a stick. But Morpheus nods to him. And he nods back. A blind man could not nod back to a nod. That's right. And he's just sitting there. So I'm thinking maybe... And this is the beginning of the lobby of the building. So he could be just like a guard, you know, there. And then if, you know, if you don't nod to him, he doesn't recognize Morpheus. It's an agent or something. His head pops out and there's like an alarm going... Agent alert. That's like an 80s Paul Verhoeven thing. Or he turns into like Gandalf and he's like...
12:21You shall not pass. You shall not pass. No, guys. Ready? Kung Fu. I think this gentleman is an Aborigine. Possibly. That is true. That is true. He's blind, though. Which is wonderful. So do we reveal the secrets or we leave it until the end? We leave it at the end. We always have that at the end. Okay. Near the end. So anyway, he nods. I love that shot of like when you see the hobo... Hobo. The blind man. And then it moves. I'm associating blind people with hobos. It's great. Great. He looks like an undertaker, to be honest. It looks like he... Stole that suit from a dead man. What is an undertaker? The guy who takes you under. In Australia. Down under. You want to go down under?
13:01Down under. He's made it 69, if you know what I'm saying. So you go to Australia? Who's your undertaker? Well, no. Undertaker is the guy who... Jeff's my undertaker. He's awesome. He actually prepares all the funeral... Arrangements. Arrangements. Okay. But I don't think they're called undertakers anymore. I think that was back in the past. But like in the Wild West, right? Yeah. Yeah. I think today they're called funeral directors. The guy with the measuring tape and he's like, you know, you're getting like hanged and he comes with the measuring tape and he's like... Yeah, you're back to the future. Yeah. Oh, is it back to the future? He's like, hey man, hey pal, I don't want to buy a suit. And he's like, this isn't for your suit. It's for your coffin. And he leaves. The odds are stacked against you. Might as well be prepared.
13:43I need to land my Mike Stacosta nod. Mike Staclasa? Yeah. Your Mike Staclasa? I haven't seen that. I need to do that. I haven't seen middle-intermediate stuff in like years. I watched... Hey, by the way, this is going a little bit off topic, but I watched... What was that? Suburban Bigfoot? Best of the Worst. Suburban... Sasquatch. Sasquatch. Suburban Sasquatch. Wasn't it amazing? Now I have to tell you, I have seen that... Some clips of that ages ago. Yeah. It was fantastic. I'll have to see that. I know you're not going to like this, but it just reminded me so much of our movies.
14:25So much. I don't know. I don't know. It's so bad. It's so beautiful. I don't know what you guys are talking about. I do know what you're talking about, but I haven't seen it. Send the link. I haven't seen it yet. All right. Anyway, let's keep going here. This cinematography is wonderful. I love how the angle looks like with Morpheus and Neo there in that wide shot with all that graffiti. Now, I think there's a symbolism here with the red tiles, which kind of indicates the opposite of what the matrix is, which is green. And that's interesting. It's a rebellion. It's a rebellion, right? The resistance. Ah, the bloodstained... The bloodstained tiles. Tiles. Just like the red woman in the red dress. Maybe, yeah, maybe red is... Oh, yeah, this is the red tiles.
15:06This is where she lives, isn't it? No, she's in the construct. I know. She doesn't go anywhere. It's nice. So anyway, they go into the elevator, and I just love the vertical lines. You can see all these wonderful things that they purposefully added, which is also the symmetry that we didn't see at all in the real world. Yeah, the real world is definitely the opposite of symmetrical and calculated. It's free-flowing and organic. And this is just oppressive and vertical. But the funny thing is the real world isn't completely organic. I think the ironic thing is that if we're talking about the sequels in Revolutions, the machine rule is the most organic-looking, which is purposeful.
15:47Yeah, that is true. So now let's... What did you want to say, Phil? Well, let's hear what Tim wants to say because we can take turns. Okay, go. Look at this. Look at this. What is this, democracy? And we're shouting over each other. I wanted to point out, before Morpheus says things, we get a look at some minor graffiti, some scratchings on the wood. And we have two... Can you speak on these? Line of scratches. Yeah, I speak on these scratches. We have two next to Neo. Now, one on the left, it could be swastika ES, or just symbol ES. Yes. Wait, wait, wait. But the one on the left... Next to the elevator button.
16:28Sideways E. No, no, no. If you look at the Neo's close-up, there are scratchings. When they're in the elevator. I'm sorry. Yes, when they're in the elevator. But this is minute 69, so I'm going to say that says sex. Oh, just like the infamous... Disney Lion King. One that everybody said sex, even though it's SFX. Yep. And I hope in a year on top of Reddit, this will be the trivia. Oh, it is, because little babies on Reddit always write stuff that's obvious. In this case, this is very obvious. And then the next one is... Well, it could be Kim, but no Kim spells their name. Well, that is exactly how Kim Barrett's name is spelled.
17:09Costume designer. Oh, that's poop. Because I would go Coom, because that's in, you know, Tilika. Y is you. So it could be Coom, you know, The Godfather. So they're referencing the great film of Godfather. You funny man. Neo is The Godfather. Slavic linguist. No, that just looks like Kim Barrett. No, listen. We could also do KYM and think about what the initials are. Caligula. Kill Your Mom. Wow. Haven't you seen all those YouTube videos? But, you know, subtle, what was that? Subversive. Oh. Hidden messages. Oh, like subliminal messages. That's what I'm saying. There it is. KYM. Kill Your Mom. That could be one. So I have one candidate.
17:50What else could it be? Maybe like, like Corrupted Youth with a K. Reggie. Corrupted Youth. We've got to do some K. KYM. Oh, oh, oh. Instead of, you know, Free Your Mind, it's Knowledge Your Mind. KYM. Okay. We're going into that. Know Your Mind. Okay. Know Your Mind. That's it. Know Your Mind. That's it. Or Know Your Mind, you know. The Matrix has you. Ooh. Know Your Matrix. That's not a way to say that. Know Your Matrix. That's it. Know Your Matrix. Kill Your Morpheus. There's multiple.
18:31There's multiple. There's too many. Kill Your Mentor. This movie. Okay. Can we, can we talk about the minute, please? So. Yeah. Let's move on. We are, but it's just like, this is what people tuned in to. I know. In-depth analysis of what the letters mean in the elevator. And most of it is stupid stuff we were just making up on the fly. Which could be true. The dirty trivia, you know, they need to hear it. And we can, by the way, we can post this trivia online and put it as an official trivia. Like, did you know that KYM means? Right. Right. So. Kill Your Nex Menstrual. So this is the same. By the way, Morpheus hits the number eight, which is a. He hates eight. A very. He hits eight all the time.
19:11A prominent symbol of infinity. So. Oh, yeah. Floor eight he is going on. The question is, though. Infinity is like an eight upside down. And so they're ascending up into infinite knowledge, infinite wisdom and sight and truth. I'm just making this up, by the way. Just like you guys are making up these stupid. I like the infinity one, though. Yeah. So he's. So the Oracle is definitely one of the holders of the infinity stones, which is going to be one of the great plot elements in the upcoming Avengers. Great film. Wait, wait, wait. I was thinking infinity in the philosophical. But the infinity wars. In Broadway. No, no, no. But in MCU, there's one. I don't want to talk about the MCU. It's the soul stone. You want to be on the MCU in a minute?
19:52You want to be on there? Yes. Let's do it. You want to go, Tim? I'm going to ask them. You guys can go. And then Tim can do it. I'll go on the Mutsu. Yeah, do it. The. The. We all know in the Mutsu where all the stones are, except one. And it's the soul stone. And now we know that the Oracle has the store stone. The store stone. Yes. To get to the store. To buy ingredients for? Cookies. Yes. Thank you. Nice one. Because cookies need love like everything does. Yeah. In the store stone. So anyway, Neo and Morpheus talk. And Neo says, so is this the same Oracle that made the prophecy? And Morpheus says, yes, she's very old. She's been with us since the beginning.
20:33That's interesting. He goes, the beginning of the resistance. Now, the question is, this actually skewed my idea because I always thought as a kid that when I was younger and I was watching this, that Morpheus, what he's saying is that the beginning of the resistance was during his time. Like Morpheus was still there while the resistance began because he said, she's been with us since the beginning. And I thought, you know, Morpheus starts the resistance and, you know, the Oracle is there since the beginning. I mean, the funny thing is that if you. But that was just my thinking when I was a younger person. But, you know, you could technically read it like that and you could technically interpret
21:14it that way because Morpheus said he was ambiguous with his talk about the origin of the resistance. When we said he, it was he who freed the first of us. Who's to say that Morpheus wasn't freed among those first of us? Well, that's what I said when he says the first of us. So I think in, in just looking at the first one isolated, I think you could make that claim. But the problem is he says that she's old. So. Yeah. And the other thing is that if we look at the sequel canon, you know, these, these people, these Zion people get freed a few times and every time they're, you know, from a few people. And if you look at Zion, it's a whole society. So, you know, it's been a couple of years since Zion grew.
21:56If we take that into consideration. It's ready. So that has been a generations, you know. So, so Morpheus is not. And also the other thing is that if you take the sequels into consideration, then Morpheus is telling, you know, Pee Pee Caga because isn't he the only one who's like, you know, in cahoots with the Oracle? Everyone's like, ah, Morpheus, you old fool. And he's like, oh, Oracle told me to keep it. Well, we'll tell us later. But I think that more people go see the Oracle. Everyone knows the Oracle. More people go to see the Oracle? Yeah, dude. Really? The neighborhood, you know, aunt. Matriarch. So, but why don't they believe in the one then? We'll talk about that in the next episode because there's some strange stuff that's going to,
22:41that we can talk about. Like the potentials that we have and where they come from. So that's going to be an interesting thing to talk about. So, so Neo says, she knows what? Everything? And Morpheus goes, she would say she knows enough. And Neo says, and she's never wrong. And Morpheus is like, try not to think of it as right or wrong. She's a guy. This gets into the Eastern philosophy elements of the film. Non-dual thinking. I think that's something they're stressing with the Oracle is that it's not about a, it's not about simply using, you know, reason to think through things and looking for the right and incorrect answer. It's about something more.
23:23And that's what I think that they're tapping into with the Oracle. But I don't know anything about it other than that. That's my guess. I mean, I think, I think that Neo is asking the simpleton question. Is she correct or is she not correct? As in, does her prophecies come true? That's, I think that's what Neo is asking in the simplest terms. Is she right or wrong? But Morpheus takes it to the philosophical. It's like, oh, don't think about right or wrong, left or right, you know, like, you know, like morally right or wrong or whatever. It's, you know, it's like, it's kind of like, you know, she just kind of takes it there. So I think just, Neo is just asking like, you know, are her prophecies true or not? I like the cinematography here because we have a great soft light going down and Morpheus never looked better with that top down light.
24:06Looks so cool. Looks pretty cool. I also like how it's, how it's, what's it called? Blocked because Morpheus doesn't turn to Neo for conversation. He just sort of turns his head back. Like, you know, like kid, you know, here's looking at you. There's a, there's a sense of disconnect and a feeling of anxiety that you might get just like in anticipation of what, you know, who this Oracle is. Well, I wanted to ask, what did you guys think when you first saw this? How is the Oracle going to like feel like? No, I have no idea. I don't remember because the problem is I don't think I knew what the Oracle meant. Neither did I. As a word.
24:46You know, if they said, if they said a prophet, prophet, prophet, or maybe a witch, I would have had a, sort of an image in my head. The old egg. But the Oracle was like, I don't know what the Oracle is. I thought it was very exciting to see when I was small because you really don't know what to expect. And you're waiting for them in the elevator and you really have no idea. Could it be a person? Could it be a computer program? Could it be, you know. A computer? Could it be. Like deep thought? Deep thought, yeah. Yeah. You know, what could it be? And also, I also wondered, this could be again retroactive thinking as usual, but it also could have been you don't know whether the Oracle is someone who is sort of friendly or does she sort of, is she difficult to talk to?
25:37You know, you don't know what their temperament is. You come and she's like, too small. Go away. Who is this Neo? Too fat. Out. Out. So it's sort of like, I always wondered, maybe they just get occasional favors from the Oracle, but maybe, you know, maybe she's hard to convince to get help from. Stuff like that. So you don't know until you get there. But it's funny. I think they have like a system built and you go see the Oracle and she tells you one piece of like fortune cookie thing and that's you're done. You're done. Did you think he, like, does she have sessions with Morpheus? He comes every month and they do talking or something? Or is it just like, oh, here's a new person. I think they have a few therapy sessions every once in a while. But not therapy, but more like talking because later on, we'll get to it.
26:19She starts talking like she knows what Morpheus is about. Yeah. And I think they've talked, I think they've talked as equals and not so much as, you know, like, I need help. He comes in and he's like, so I'm doing this. Morpheus, I'm glad you're here. Come help me with these cookies. Yeah. And he helps her with the cookies and stuff. And he's talking about like, you know, my crew's doing well and we're getting closer to finding the one and stuff like that. And they're making cookies and he's like, ah, there's one kid, Cypher. I just can't reach him. I feel like there's a distance between us. Every time he looks at me. Where was the Oracle there? And the Oracle goes, what about that fine young lad? How do I reach the Cypher? Eddie. I think these cookies need more Cypher. How is Eddie?
26:59I told him he's the one. And Morpheus is just like, oh. That's what I'm saying. And Morpheus is like, I think that these cookies need more sugar. No, no, no, Eddie, Eddie. Sugar. But if you count the sequels, Morpheus is really important to the Oracle's plans. Yeah. So. Okay, so she basically, so she's the leader. She's the manipulator. She's the corrupted one. She corrupted Morpheus's mind and now he does her bidding. So she is a witch. Evil dirty witch. All right, and I think that's the end of our minute at the moment. What does it say at the end of the minute here?
27:40Think of her as a guide. As a guide. We're talking about that, yeah. As anything else. Especially, don't try to imagine her naked, okay? That's what he was doing. The first thing. Now, if you're ready, we can go to 1996 zone. And it is. Okay. Let's play. Yeah, okay, ready? Play the jingle. And we're back. What a jingle. That was a brilliant jingle. My nipples were very hard for that jimble. For that jimble. Jimble. Yo jimble. The jimble was quite jimbly. Well, so in the 1996 script, remember, like we said, there was no agent training program.
28:22That was just part of Neo. This was the Wachowskis probably experimenting on trying to just kind of go in a post. Like, he's already learned everything. And he just repeats it to us, the audience, and to Morpheus and to Tank. Like, you know, these are the buttons to do this. This is the EMP, remember? And so when they're going to the Oracle in the car, Morpheus goes, you see why everyone who is still plugged into the Matrix is also an enemy? And he goes, yeah, yeah, because that's how agents can, you know, do that. And it's like, the best hacking is always quiet, like a fart. Remember that? Like, the best hacking is always traceless. Oh, yeah, I remember that, yeah. So this is what happens now as they're in the car going to the Oracle.
29:07So, Cypher and Trinity move away from them, securing the perimeter. We didn't get to see that. As Cypher passes a garbage can, he surreptitiously drops something inside. We know that one. In its cellular phone, and we watch the blue display as the line connects. So, corrugated roll-up garage. Morpheus and Neo get in. So this is before they actually get into the car. And interior Lincoln, Continental, in the Matrix, day. An enormous man is waiting for them. In front of the car. A wad of chewing tobacco bulges his cheek. What wad? Sorry. A wad of chewing tobacco bulges his cheek.
29:47He spits into a Coke can. Mojo says, Morpheus, it's been a long time coming. And Morpheus goes, you're looking well, Mojo. Mojo coughs a brown, cankerous laugh. Juice speckling his chin and shirt. He stares at Neo. You bringing us geriatrics now, Morpheus? He spits and laughs again. Guess you are looking for a miracle. Even though it says locking for a miracle in the script. So, exterior bar day. It now does a hard cut. Are we sure the script is legit? Well, I hope it's legit.
30:28Otherwise, it's not like some fan wrote it and we're like basing our entire theories on this. But there's so many elements. I have no question to Philip. How do we know it's legit? But there's so many elements here that you can see made its way to the final film. You know? Yeah. Does anyone of the listeners know the Wachowski personally? We can ask. Can you please ask him if this is confirmed? Because there have been more weird things that like the... Remember the bugs? Remember the cockroaches they were eating? And remember Eddie? That was all in the Art of the Matrix book. Oh, that's correct. So, there were some confirmation, wasn't there? So, it is confirmed, yeah. From outside sources. Secondary sources. Cool. I'm just taking this and I think...
31:08So, it's legit. In my opinion, as far as I can tell, I'm still, you know, not completely... Where'd you find it, by the way? Huh? Where'd you find it, by the way? What, this one? The internet? The internet is a matter. Everywhere. I was looking and... I'm not doubting anything. I'm just saying like... I think, you know, you were looking for the script, but the script... I was looking for you. Yeah. Yeah. It is true. The Art of the Matrix stuff. That's good. I'm glad. That makes me feel better. Those are alien concepts that never even made it, like, closely to... And Eddie was in the script. And Eddie was in the script. Okay. And so were the cockroaches. That is true. Good. Good. Yep.
31:48I'm glad. It's good. So, I mean, you want me to continue? Because they're going into a bar now. Of course. Yes. It's 96 zone. Yeah. Exterior bar day. Neighborhood where every corner has a pair of eyes. Woohoo. And now he goes to interior bar day. A lightless, lower class bar. Also, the descriptions are... They really sound like the Wachowskis wrote that. Because, like, comparing that to the shooting script... Yeah. Similar? There's also... Writing style. Yeah. Okay. So that's cool. There's corroboration. Is that the word? Yeah. It's legit. So, I'm still, you know, not 100% convinced like Morpheus is with Neo being the one, but I'm, you know, I'm going in a little faith here.
32:31So, a lightless, lower class bar. No one enters that is not expected. The front doors open in a brilliant burst of sunlight as Mojo leads Morpheus and Neo inside. Neo looks around, his eyes adjusting to the darkness. Mojo asks to the bartender, then looks over. All right, it's cool. Go on back. They weave their way to the back of the bar, the sticky floor snapping under their feet. A monolith of a man rises from his stool as they walk up. You're late. Is a guy called Rex. He moves to the side, opening the heavy iron door behind him. They descend the basement staircase towards the single bare bulb at the bottom, hanging
33:11above the only door. Interior basement. Day. A high-tech laptop and modem are set up on a stack of milk crates. Neo waits as Morpheus types in a series of access codes. After a moment, the screen blinks. Zion access code? Morpheus. That's what the screen says. Welcome, Morpheus. Welcome, Professor. Morpheus walks back to the same door they entered, but it now leads into the Temple of Zion. And we'll tell you how that looks like later in the next episode. Wow. Okay, so before we end this, I just want to comment on how this script feels so much more like a high concept sci-fi.
33:53You know, sci-fi compared to, especially in the real world. I'm sorry, in the Matrix, you know, compared to the real world. Where in this one, it's like, you know, like the real world is high concepts sci-fi. But here, everything in the Matrix feels very tactile. It feels really real. It feels everything. Everything's grounded. Yeah. And that's the opposite of what I'm hearing here. It's very like super secret and buttons and gizmos and... A character called gizmo. Reality bending stuff. Yeah, exactly. See? So I'm glad that... I'm really glad to change that. I would agree with this. It adds gravitas. It reminds me of Blade at the beginning where they go into the club through the...
34:35Yes, the party. ...meat factory. Why does it remind you? At the beginning, like where they have to go through like three different people. Right, right, right. It's very cheesy. It's very, you know, like cliche. Yeah, yeah. Underground. Like secret entrance. So that's it. We're on our way to the Oracle. Just a few more episodes. And we'll be there. We'll be there. And then there's going to be a lot of things that I have to research or get some guests so they can talk instead of me. I think there's a lot of things we'll have to research, I think. Oh yeah, we. Because it's a team effort, naturally. Of course. I do the least amount of work. We all do the work. I think we can say we equally share the load. Yes, yes. Sometimes Philips slacks, but we can pick up after.
35:15I don't know what it is. This aired on Cyber Monday, so get those cyber deals. Oh my goodness. Get those codes. By the way, guys. Oh yeah, this is too late now. Those hostings. We can cut this out, Phil. But they have HostGator, you know, that does our internet hosting. They have like the most amazing deal today. On every Thanksgiving, they have like 80% off. Wow. So if you need hosting, you should get that. Get your hosting, Gators. So Cyber Monday, are those good deals? There's 80% off on Steam, too. It's like, there's like Black Friday is like normal, like, you know, stores and stuff. And then Cyber Monday, it's like domains or applications or anything kind of like hosting. It's like usually on Cyber Monday.
35:56That's great. Cool. Awesome. Well, we hope you've enjoyed this episode of The Matrix Minute, and we hope you'll still stick around until we finish it. See ya. Okay. Awesome. Tim, stop licking me. Oh! That ending. You're going to scare someone. Imagine someone driving. Actually, stop the recording. I'm feeling like I've got to save you.
