0:00Welcome to the Matrix Minute, it's hosted by Closet Demon, uh, Sam. Fightful Hobgoblin, that is me. Is Chris Walken hosting the show now with Wendigan? Chris, when did you get here? I got here sometime earlier today, and I can't do that very well. And I love Foo Fighters. Foo Fighters. Love them. They're great. My favorite band. Max Schreck creating this bank. What's he making? He's a factory. It's a front. It's a front. It's a power plant that would draw power from Gotham, apparently. That's right. Because they had a power surplus. That's right. We got a power surplus.

0:41It's beautiful. Every time we see... And there's a whole reason I'm doing my podcast, the whole countdown is just to get to the line of him saying to the penguin, you know, you can get unlimited Poontag. And I was just like, did I say Poontag in a Batman movie? What the fuck? Wow. So... All right. So it's Friday. It's Friday. We're Friday. Friday. We got the... The cupboard hobgoblin there who introduced himself. The cupboard hobgoblin right here. We got Jake. Jake cut his hair. Yeah. How do you feel about that, Jake? Miss my long hair. I miss it, but... Miss your long hair. It's okay. You bum. But it's okay. You're Captain America now. It's true. I am. What's his name? I always put his name. Steve... Rogers. Okay.

1:21Rogers. Rogers. Tim. I'm Tim. Hey, you know what? Tim, are you wearing a hat? No. No. I wash my hair, so it's nice and puffy. It's... Even though it's humongous and horrible. Hey, come on. But it's not flat and greasy and sliding on my face. Guys, so the Wachowski, people ask them, like, are there any animals hooked up to the Matrix? No. No. All the animals you see in the Matrix, they're digital... Creations. ...programs. Of course. No fake. There's not a little piggy somewhere plugged into the Matrix. Why would there be a piggy today? It's just us three. No. Oh, no. Yes. No. No. It is the final episode this week, at least. Yep. With Niall. Niall.

2:02Go on. Come on, man. Yeah, motherfuckers. Yeah, man. Yeah. How's it feeling? Obviously, it's Friday. On the weekend. I can't do it anymore. It's hard, so. I have never done... I have never done a Christopher Walken impression in my life. That sounded like a... I've always said that. That was so weird. It's just like... It's like a motorcycle trying to start. Like a squeezy toy. Wow. Stop squeezing. All right. I'm getting geared up, because I have to do, like, next year, when we get the Batman Returns, I have to do a whole fucking year of Walken impressions, basically. Yeah, man. So I'm, like, training myself together. Yeah. I got to practice. Hopefully, I could be on that minute episode. Oh, of course. Yeah, man. I got that and the Vito penguin.

2:43These deals going on here. Just doing that constant... ...voice the whole time. Oh, sorry. I thought the internet went out. Oh, me too. I got scared. I got terrified. Anyway, where are we? Minute... We're minute 56. All righty. Minute 56. Philip, why don't you read us? Read us some bedtime stories. Read us away, Philip. Read us some bedtime stories of minute 56. Cypher meets Trinity outside of Neo's room as she finishes giving Neo some food. Cypher grumbles about not getting dinner for her. He then wonders why he hasn't gone to the Oracle yet. That is, Neo hasn't gone to the Oracle yet.

3:23Trinity says that Morpheus will take him when he's ready. Cypher. And she leaves. The scene changes to another training program. Morpheus teaches Neo about the Matrix being a system. And Rob Dogen's club to death plays as they walk across the street. Matrix bad, bad, bad, bad. And that's it. Let's watch the clip. Say mofo. Trinity loves Neo. Do I believe that Trinity loves Neo at this point of the film? Ooh, sure. I don't know. Yes, yes. I think so. The other thing that was going through my head is that it's very shallow of me.

4:04But I was just like, Trinity outside the Matrix, to me, looks better than she does with the slick hair and all the PVC. Maybe it's just me. I was just like, oh, she looks pretty good here. I agree. Yeah. Yeah. It's a nice look. I like this. It's more of a natural look. She's got a nice haircut. Yeah. It's good haircuts. I always thought that Carrie Ann Moss would have been a good Catwoman if they ever- Hey! Yeah, she still could be, actually. But they're going for this older- Oh, Batman's an older character. Oh, yeah. There you go. Yeah. Like Ben- I don't know. Like Ben Affleck. She's not Catwoman. She's Cougar Woman. Man. Maybe like her or Gina Gershon, another Wachowski alum.

4:47Or Wachowski. Sorry, I keep saying Wachowski. Wachowski. Sorry. Wachowski. Mike Wachowski. Yeah. Directed by Mike Wachowski. All right. So, yeah. We got a little Cypher scene here. So, yeah. So, yeah. We got another Cypher scene here. First of all, Trinity gives him some food and, you know, closes the door. And then there's Cypher going- Cypher's not happy about this. He's like- I don't recall you ever bringing me dinner. It's a weird. It's a weird phrase. Yeah. But I think- When I was a kid, I didn't understand it. Just that whole conversation. Okay. It was a bit too, like, it wasn't straightforward, sort of, you know. What didn't you understand when your kid takes us back to the kid days?

5:27I had no idea what they were talking about. Well, he just was jealous he didn't get dinner when he was asleep. No, no. I had no idea what they were talking about. What is he, you know. There's something about the oracle then in the end. Okay, that makes sense. But the whole, I don't remember, you know, the way that sentence is structured. I didn't understand. Right. What he was. Dinner? Does he want dinner now? What's going on? Is he hungry? He's like, I don't recall you ever bringing me dinner today when I really wanted right now. Well, here's an interesting thing. Cypher is mentioning this and his body language is kind of making it sound like they might have been together at some point, maybe. A little close. Yep. There was just, there was no like, you know, cuddling in the morning.

6:09Maybe. I never thought about that. But then again, I don't know. It's hard for me to picture that. I always kind of imagined that they were. He was a different man then. Maybe. Maybe. He thought he was the one. I'm still more pissed. I am the one. Love me. I know. I always pictured that Trinity and Cypher like totally opposite. Yeah. That's what it felt like to me too. He's like such a disbeliever and Trinity's a believer. And they're like, you know, they always probably had these conversations where it's like, they're totally different opinions. I always thought. I always thought like a strictly work. Do we know anything about these people's like life in the Matrix? Maybe they were friends in the Matrix. They got plugged in together. Oh, they were husband and wife. And then. There we go. Husband and wife. Yeah. And they're like. And then they unplug and he's like, but you're still my wife.

6:50No. No. It's not real. Oh, man. She pulled the not real card out. Yeah. Yeah. He's like. Do you see rings on my hands? No rings. Does it not real? Go on now. To be fair. What? I was just saying. You know, opposite detract. It'll be one of those. They could have had a classic Matrix prequel sitcom of like the will they want they relationship of Trinity and Cypher. It's so perfect. Oh, they really rile each other up, you know, but maybe there's a future for these two somewhere. Oh, I would love to hear. Obviously the first movie ruins that, but whatever. But I would love to hear like Joe Pantoliano just going on to like angry triads and stuff like that, like just going on. You just don't never.

7:31You don't understand me. You forgot my dinner. I say, dude, guys, I fucking infinite love for Joey Pantoliano. Like it's just him and Joe. I remember around this time, there was a period in the mid 2000s where Joey Pantoliano was in like everything. He was just omnipresence, at least for me, because it was just like everything I watched. So it's like, oh, it's Joe Pantoliano. It's just like, well, there he is again. And even watching The Matrix, it's like, that's fucking, that's Ralphie from The Sopranos. But I found it very tragic. He's not in that much anymore. Like he seems to sort of really dial back. He's kind of done. Is he not? He's on Twitter. He's on Twitter. He's still in stuff. It's just, yeah.

8:11We wished him a happy birthday on Twitter. And all I saw was, you know, just some political posts. That's about it. He's probably in a different thing. Leave the politics. Come to our podcast. Yeah. He's still working, but it's just not like. Oh, wait. He was in Sensei. He was in Sensei, apparently. Yeah. I mean, he's just. Sense8. Wachowski show. Oh, Sense8. Yeah, sorry. Sense8. That's what you mean. I never watched that. Okay, never mind. I thought it was Sensei. Did you guys ever see that? Never mind. Niall or Tim, did you guys see that? Ever? No, I thought they've not watched it yet. Me neither. Me neither. I did the one episode, two episodes, and I just couldn't get into it. It was a bit too much setup, world setting up in the beginning. So I was like, I was not feeling it.

8:53But I think it was Patrick who said that they watched it and it was actually pretty good. So I might give it a chance. I think he was talking about the other thing. No. But the thing is, he does have his. Yeah. It was for you. Yeah, for me. Me. Go on. No, I mean, just Joey Pants, even if he is in Sense8. This guy's got his Wachowski links, though. That's true. And this. Then he got jobs later with them. That's right. But did you guys ever watch. Yeah, he was the husband inbound. Did we watch what? Did you ever watch The Sopranos when he was on? No. I didn't.

9:33Oh, man. I've never watched The Sopranos. No. Oh, Sopranos. Great show in general. But he's in it for like a season and a half. And he's like a really antagonistic, asshole, Cypher-esque kind of character. But yeah, Ralph Separetto. Oh, fuck. I used to love Ralph Separetto. Because he was just there to antagonize Tony Soprano. He's kind of a bit like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas. Yeah, I was going to ask that. It sounded a lot like that, right? Yeah. He's one of those characters you love to hate. Because he's funny. And he's just like, oh, the things he's coming out with. He's like, oh, Ralphie. And then he'll literally turn around and beat like a pregnant hooker to death. And it's just like, holy fuck.

10:15Jesus. And then the next episode, then he's back cracking jokes. And you're like, this guy's horrible. But I kind of still want to watch him. Yeah, yeah. That's right. That's Joey Pants in a nutshell right there. Even Memento. He's playing a kind of hateful git as well. Oh, yeah. He's in Memento as well. But he wasn't bad. With Carrie-Anne Moss. You see our scenes with Carrie-Anne Moss. There we go. Man, I remember seeing the trailers for that. And my little mind of a pubescent child. I thought it was like a scene. Because I saw them, two actors, you know, Carrie-Anne Moss and Joey Pants. And I thought it was connected to the Matrix.

10:56I don't know. Maybe it was stupid. I don't know. I'm thinking because I remember really wanting to watch that because I thought it was connected to the Matrix. And then I thought maybe Keanu Reeves will be in it as well. I remember watching. I was like, why is not Keanu Reeves? I don't know what's wrong with me, though. I'm thinking about it right now. I have these strange recollections of me thinking about this, watching that movie. Like, what's going on? If that happened, that could have been like Memento was a weird glitchy Matrix sequel. Where like, oh, the Matrix is going backwards now or something. It's like, why is the story? Because they're in the real world. They know what's happening and stuff like that. Yeah. But he's in like, if you go, because he's one of those guys, much like Keanu himself or Fishburne.

11:37Never ages. Because you go back to like Midnight Run in like 85 or 86 that came out. Maybe later, but it was mid to late 80s. Looks the fucking same. He just doesn't. And then you look at him now. Yeah. Joey Pants just looks. He perpetually looks like that. And again, he's amazing in Midnight Run. So, yeah. And of course, you know, the Goonies, all that stuff as well. The guy, yeah, he's just, he's been fixed. He probably came into the world looking like that. Which would be hard to believe. The Goonies is a film that I keep hearing people being referenced, like, like referencing and stuff. And I've never seen it. I've only seen like the last five minutes. You've never seen it? You got Josh Brawlin in there? Oh, okay. Yes. Rocky Road.

12:18And that's all I know. It's one of those shameful things of like, because people, people fucking love The Goonies. They do. And it's one of the ones, like, I've always been like, it's all right. You know, it doesn't, you know, really, you know, jam me up too much. It's like, yeah, I watched it a bit when I was a kid. And like, I'd much rather watch like, you know, Masters of the Universe or something. Where it's like Frank Langella. The Matrix, yeah. I know. But yeah, The Goonies. I could probably be fucking crucified now for saying that. I'm coming out in the air. And like, the Goonies is not all that hot. But I mean, I think it will be one like, I think a lot of people's love of it is nostalgia goggles.

12:59So imagine if you watched it now as an adult, you'd be like, yeah, I was wondering about that. That's what happened with me. You're right. Harry Potter as well. Never touched Harry Potter when I was a kid. Watched all the films last year. And I was just like, I don't get why this is so popular. I can get if you grew up as a kid reading the books. Because I imagine the books expand everything way out. It would be amazing. The books are so much better though. Yeah. But as a 30 year old man watching these, just the films. I was just like, this is not anywhere near what it's built up to be. But that's not the poopoo. I understand that, you know, if you grew up with it, it would be amazing for you.

13:39Particularly if you read the books. So it's just not my, I came too late to it. And I imagine it would be the same with The Goonies. You might just be like, eh, maybe if I was like 10 and watched this, it would be amazing. But, you know, right now, not so much. Absolutely. Dude, Joey. Are we talking about another movie here? A lot of movies. I didn't. Oh, we tend to do this. I didn't realize. What? I didn't realize in so many things. I just recognized him in all these movies that I saw before. I kind of didn't. I don't know. He was in Congo, wasn't he? Bad Boys. He's in. That all the films bring up Congo. He's in Empire of the Sun. Oh, someone should do a Congo minute. I think someone should do like a Joey Pants minute. Just be like, go take out the Matrix.

14:22Go through that robot in the family. That's a fucking train wreck. That's worth analyzing one minute at a time. Yeah, all the scenes with Joey Pants in it. Just cut those together. His entire filmography on screen. Yeah. Perfect. Try to match it up. I think I've talked to someone like accidentally, repeatedly. But I keep bringing it up to him and he keeps going like, yeah, we've talked about this before. About doing a midnight run minute. I was like, oh shit, it's been months since the last time. He's like, you mentioned it last week, damn it. Why don't you remember what we talk about? But yeah, because Joey Pants is on fire in that. Not literally. But yeah. Yeah. Not like the Matrix. No. Yeah, exactly. Not like the Matrix. Or the Matrix.

15:02The Matrix Matrix. I was talking about the Dennis Hopper mattress on fire. Oh no, I know. I just, I, it just came out of my mouth wrong. It's a wonderful pun. Yeah, it's a wonderful pun. All right. Let's just reel this back in here. Let's reel this back in. The Matrix. The Matrix. Yeah. Trinity is, is, is just, he's not having it. And he's like, why doesn't he take him to see the Oracle? And Trinity's like, well, when he's ready, duh. Like, you know, he's like, he will when he's renting. Yeah. Just, you know, like. That just says it. This is the second time they dropped the Oracle, right? The first time he's like. And let's. Wait, wait. And as I promised, we can go through some of the 1996 script. And I wanted to mention that in the 1996 script, what is talked about is that the.

15:44Wait, wait, the jingle. Well, not yet. This is just a little sample real quick. And he, and Morpheus just says that it's the, um, the temple of the Oracle prophesized his return when he was mentioning that. That's from, that's from Greek. Yeah. That's why, that's where it came from, right? The Oracle. Mythology. Yeah. There you go. Something like that. Johnny Pants is mad. And then he checks her out as she's leaving. Cause she's like. Yeah. He's a mean guy. I love, I love the lighting on it. And I like how he's leaning on the door at the end of that, that shot. It's really nice. I really, I, I always keep talking about how great the cinematography is in the Matrix. And I, I just like the shadows on that. I just like the shadows. And then it cuts to, uh, this red man, uh, you know, on the stoplight.

16:27The man in the red. Yeah. And it's so great because it's like showing you like, that's a red guy. He's, he's no good. He's bad man. Is it, is it maybe, is it maybe kind of foreshadowing this thing about like. Yeah. I think it might be. Yeah. Yeah. It's a warning. Warning. Yeah. Hey, so, so Phil, do you want the honors to, to talk about the biggest trivia that any, if you look up any Matrix trivia, this is a thing that will probably be in every single list and probably on top of it. This is baby's first Matrix trivia, basically. Yep. And everybody knows this because obviously all these extras here are obviously, uh, cast as being like twins in real life. So they can make duplicates of people who are walking, uh, around this little training

17:13program. Because obviously in programming, uh, when you want to put lots of crowds, you can't make every individual. So you just copy paste people. And what they did was a clever, uh, uh, decision to cast twins and get them looking, uh, exactly the same. And, uh, as Neo is going through them, you can see duplicates of, of, of people. And it's great. Wow. Everybody knew this. Did you guys ever, did you ever pick it up before you read the trivia? Cause I have not at all. I'd never noticed. Not really. But I think subliminally I have, like, I haven't consciously noticed it, but I did notice that, um, it, people felt very like bland. Like, I remember there's this old lady that, uh, Neo runs into and I saw her once before,

17:58but I have never caught that, like, as a, as an actual thing in the, in the movie. You know what I mean? Like I, until someone mentioned it. Or, you know, but it's a great like attention to detail. No, I'd, I'd never noticed that they were, that there were duplicate people. I think my eye was more drawn to what the other thing that they do is that everyone's in black and white in order to sort of like, yeah, the, the, I even, they even go to the point, like, how do we make people even more like, Oh, black, black shoot. You know, black suit and white shirt, black tie, all that sort of stuff. But then white suits and all, you know, they kind of mix it up and then they throw in like a couple of kind of like New York, New York. It's a hell of a town kind of sailors coming through and everything.

18:39Yeah. But, uh, yeah, cause it just, then eventually you guys will talk about this next week, obviously, but, uh, with Jonathan woman. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, see, there's the next week he's doing. Oh, well, right. Your, your, your other half. Yeah. Well, I don't know if he's aware that he's coming on next week. So he's not mentioning it to me anyway. Well, he better be. If he's not, we're going to reschedule him and then he will rule the day that he didn't talk about the woman in the red dress. Yeah. But, uh, but yeah, it just, it makes her pop more. It was like, Oh fuck. It's right. I'm in a sea of black and white. It's a red dress that comes piercing out to you. But I'd never noticed that it's actually, you know, before I heard that trivia that it was, uh, there was actual, you know, duplicate.

19:21There are twins in there, which is a really cool detail. So yeah, it's very cool. So we're back in, we're back in some of the simulations. Morpheus has his beautiful coat. Wonderful. It's just, uh, changing his fashion once again, changing his fashion once again. He's like the matrix is a system, Neo. And we get Rob Dogen and his music called clubbed to death. And I have, I love this track. I think everybody loves this track. It's a wonderful piece of music and it's put in the right place. I would say thematically, tonally, wonderfully. It's perfect, but this is what I hate so much about it. Tim, do you know what this is about? This is about me complaining again.

20:01Oh, are you going to come, are you complaining about the music or the shot? Not the music and not, not the music itself, but the way it was interpreted because I can't stand it that you go on YouTube and you write the matrix theme and the theme of the matrix is probably at the beginning of the film where it goes, bum, bum, bum. That's the matrix theme. But you know what people put on matrix theme? Rob Dogen's clubbed to death. Every video. It's just the matrix theme, the matrix theme, the matrix. It's not the matrix theme. There's the goblin we waited for. It's not the matrix theme, you fools. This song took on a life outside of the matrix in a big way over here, though.

20:47Because in Ireland, it was really highly charted for quite a while, this track. Yeah. And it was used. It was a movie video. Yeah. And it was used in fucking everything for ages. It was like every... Commercials and everything. Yeah. Every fucking commercial would be like, oh, mortgage advisors. Hey, it's clubbed to death playing in the background. And then one of the big ones was always Hugo Boss, which was black and orange. I remember that visual. Oh, really? Which brings me to my other question, which probably has been addressed by other guests. But what do you think, when Morpheus goes in the matrix, he can put on these cool duds? Do you think he's wearing a bit of Santa Hugo Boss coming off him as well? Do you think he's thinking about it?

21:28For sure. Because imagine the simulations is like, well, it's a city street. It's got to smell a little bit like, you know, it's not going to smell great. But Morpheus is like, make sure I smell pretty cool. I think I'll go with a little obsession for men today, Tech, if you don't mind. Knowing Morpheus' style and, you know, the way he dresses, yes, yes. It's just got a little bit of Dolce & Gabbana going on. Yeah. Yeah. That would have been a nice tie-in, though. Like, the new Hugo Boss is going to take this song. It's like, hey, get Hugo Boss in the movie. It's like, Morpheus, but Neo could be a bit like, what's the smell? He's like, oh, it's black and orange by Hugo Boss. But that's not what's important right now, Neo. What's important?

22:09Tank, I'm going to make it a Hugo Boss. I think they enforce the smell upon Neo. He's like, what the hell is this? This is like, Lynx Africa? What's going on? It's like, yes, we just gave you a nondescript deodorant, but I smell great. By the way, if you try to look up the motion picture, the Inspired by Soundtrack on Spotify, it's impossible. First of all, for some reason, for me, there's a couple of them uploaded. There's an official one, and there's only three songs available to be played. And then there's these weird ones where it's the actual album, but you play it, and it's like really weird MIDI copies or covers of these songs. That's awful.

22:49It's hilarious. The songs are just weird. Some of these songs are totally not what they actually view. It's like a little weird cover. That's so weird. They do that a lot. Especially the Spy Break. It's like a MIDI version. They do that a lot in supermarkets, I know. I've worked very briefly in the supermarket, but I had a friend who worked there for years, and I used to complain because for legal reasons or something, they can't play the radio in certain supermarkets because of copyright? I don't know what exactly it is. You can't play the radio at all. I remember I used to work in Belfast in the dog shop, and we couldn't...

23:32You weren't supposed to... Yeah, there was a lot. You can't play the radio, so you just play CDs. Yeah, but they would have... I think they manufacture CDs of covers of popular songs that they can play. Oh, that's what you mean, too. So it's weird. You go in and it's just like... Yeah, it'd be like, is this my heart will go on? But that's not Celine Dion. What's going on there? It's like clothes, but not really. Yeah. Celine Dion, someone will come on to play. It's like... I let her perfume on it. Greatest hits of the 90s. Cover album or something. But you know what's weird? Like if you go on Spotify... Covered by Joey Tans. No, but listen, if you go on Spotify, there's a bunch of those, or used to be at least, a lot of those weird cover albums. Like when you go look for some artist, like you type in the Beatles, and then you get all

24:15these cover albums. And it was weird. Yeah, that's before the Beatles were on Spotify. You just have all this junk. It's so weird. There's these covers. Yeah, so what else is going on here? Morpheus is like, Matrix bad, bad, bad. Right? And this is supposed to be like a bustling street as well. Yeah, imagine Neo just been like, what? What do you say? Because all I can hear is it... People is... It's in the distance. He's just like, what? I can't hear you, man. What are you saying? Stop and talk to me. In your dub when Gandalf is on the horses. Oh, yeah, yeah.

24:55Anybody who doesn't know about this, we actually did a feature length dub over, like, how many years ago was it? We started 10 years ago. And we did a feature length humorous dub over of Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings. Oh, nice. Yeah, and it keeps getting taken down on YouTube, but that's sad. Last time, I only did have, like, 45,000 views. Yeah, 45,000. Dude, it had 500,000 views before it got destroyed. So, I was sad. 500,000. Yeah. And they got taken down. Yeah. That's a sad thing. Just go over to Dailymotion. Everything goes over there. This is like... Yeah. Might as well. Might as well. It's true. It's good. Yeah. I wonder if somebody did re-upload it for you. Yeah, sure. I mean, we got a little cult following with that. I love that.

25:36And I love it when people talk about it. Anyway, that's not the topic here. But, yeah, anyway, Tim, you wanted to say there's a moment in that stupid dub over that we did. Yeah. Where it's just like... Right? Just... Because I'm... And he's going and he's like... Because he's taking a conversation on horse, but horses. And it's like, it's really getting super fast. Oh, yeah, yeah. When he's unstable. It's increasingly unstable. Yeah, like when Gandalf and Aragorn are running. They're riding somewhere and they're riding and then the horses, you know, like the bounce back of the horses riding makes them bounce around. So, I just made them start talking as if, you know, spouting exposition while they're bouncing up and down. They would just be like...

26:17You couldn't hear anything. So, that's kind of how... That's kind of what we're talking about here. But... It's on Vimeo. Did you upload it to Vimeo? No, I guess someone else did. But perfect. I'm glad. We can link it. Yeah. We can link it. But everybody can watch it if they want to spend... You know you're doing well if someone's taken your project and re-uploaded it for you. I know. It's amazing. It's super cool to see that. Yeah. I remember it was last week or something. I remember someone mentioned the Q&A with Kevin Smith and they said to him, like, he was talking about Dogma. And I think someone was saying, oh, you can't get Dogma and DBE now for less than $50. It's like, it's out of print.

26:58I think it's because of the whole Harvey Weinstein thing. He was like, oh, yeah. I was going to talk to him about reissuing it and stuff. And he's like, the thing is with Dogma, like, some fuckers always upload it to YouTube. So, if I ever need to see it, I know it's there anyway. Which was kind of weird. It's just like, I don't care. Someone's uploaded. It's around somewhere. Exactly. Indeed. Let's talk again about how the Matrix theme is not Club to Death by Rob Dogen. Because I hate that so much. You know how much I hate that? It just boils my mind. You know? Free your mind. Free your mind. Matrix theme. It's okay. The Matrix theme. Don't take the red pill or the blue pill. Take the chill pill.

27:38Yeah. So, anyway. Why don't you just go to your iTunes and rename that song Club to Death to Matrix. He'll be happier, man. He'll be a happier man. Embrace this. Just go, Siri, play the Matrix theme and it'll go. It's not the Matrix theme. Listen, I like that Morpheus, when he's walking through the crowd, he's not getting bumped into at all. Of course not. But our poor hero, Neo. Well, you mentioned that. Do you think it's programmed that way? No. Like, it's just like heat-sinking missiles? Morpheus has learned the path. Yeah. Yeah. It's just a play. Oh, this is like. Do you think they're like. Like, super programmed? Like, they have the little path they go. And that's it. Oh, look. Look at Morpheus. He's the Matrix Amusement Park tour guide. He knows everything. It's just total Groundhog Day for him.

28:18Like, he just knows. Like, over there. Over there's the cop. Over here's the fucking. The sailors. Blah, blah, blah. Woman in the red dress is coming up here. Avoid the two sailors. They get touchy-feely. It could be like, as well. Like, he has to. He has to get a patter going. Yeah. Exactly. He could have a patter going. Because he's just like. Someone else is asking too many questions. He's just like. Oh, shit. The woman in the red dress is coming. I'll grab the speed through the rest of us. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Then has to. It's like. Look at that woman. Oh, no. It's like. All right. Damn it. Reload. Wipe his mind. Yeah. Take. Come over. It's like. We're going to have to get rid of this guy. We're going to do that jump program again. Hard version this time. So. And he's sitting down. He's like. You see the crowd. You see crowd.

28:59Member number 497. Can we get rid of him? Yeah. Okay. Very good. If there's nothing else you want to talk about in this scene. Because we'll probably talk about more of the. This other new training program later. Let's go into. With maybe Jonathan Parker. Who knows. Now that you mentioned it. Yeah. We can talk about the 1996 script. Yes. Give us some goods. We're actually back on track. Wow. And we're back. That was a wonderful jingle here. So last time we went. We left. I actually didn't talk about it. When we were going through the dojo fight. Mm-hmm. And there's nothing too different about this 1996 draft.

29:39About the dojo fight. Except that I. You remember when Morpheus was wearing glasses in the real world? Sunglasses? Now if you don't know. Oh. Morpheus actually was wearing sunglasses in the real world. In the 1996 version. Like all the time. Like. Yes. Like a Cassidy and Preacher kind of thing. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Sunglasses in the real world as well. Was there going to be. A twist at the end where you saw his eyes or some shit? Or was that. Dude. You know what? That's actually what I thought when I was 12. When I first saw this film. I thought that he probably had like tentacles in his eyes or something. And he would never remove his sunglasses. That was the first time I watched this film.

30:20But yeah. So what happens in the dojo fight in the 1996 version. It's very close to what has been on screen. But. There's one little thing. Where. Neo is frantically trying to beat Morpheus. And they're fighting. Right. And then. Once Neo gets fast. Remember with the. With the eight fists. Jake. Yeah. Yes. Multi-fist. Finally. This is from the script. Finally. A single blow catches Morpheus on the side of the head. Knocking his glasses off. Oh. Oh. So he still has sunglasses. So he's just glasses all the time.

31:00Yeah. Just like you mentioned now. It's exactly. And. Teta would have been so hilarious. With the glasses and the mojo. But this is. Here's something. Mojo. Well. Speaking of mojo. You're going to hear about a character called. That. Really? Later. Mojo. Mmm. Boys. I was imagining now though. In that. In that script. Like fucking. Like Neo knocking the glasses off. And Morpheus just having like a normal. A whole pair of eyes. And Neo himself in a bit like. Oh. Oh. That's kind of disappointing. That's disappointing. Yeah. I was really hoping there was going to be something cool in there. But. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Just. Unfortunate. So. There's. There's a new bunch of dialogue. When. You know.

31:41Neo finishes and he goes. I know what you're trying to do. Remember that? Mm-hmm. That's after the whole fight. But this is how it goes. In the 1996 version. Morpheus rubs his face. And then Morpheus goes. You are angry with me. And Neo pants. I. Maybe. It's alright. It's natural. Neo goes. What? I feel better. And then Morpheus goes. Good. Good. Anger is a gift Neo. But it's a heavy one. Now do you guys know the reference to this? Because this is a hidden reference. I don't know. I think it's. Born of a Broken Man. Oh. Seriously. In Rage Against the Machine. Where there's this pause.

32:21Oh. I think it's that song. I can't remember what song it was. It's the first. It's. No. It's the. Shit. I know what you mean. Anchor is a gift. Yeah. He goes. Anchor is a gift. Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do. Yeah. And there you go. I think that's. I just wanted to mention that. Because it's there. Anchor is a gift. So there's a raging machine reference as a bit of dialogue. Yeah. Good. Morpheus. Morpheus is good. That's pretty cool. Anchor is a gift. But it's a heavy one. Oh. But that's a little ad. Yeah. yeah it's a heavy one little heavy music here but uh that's just is that is that the australian soap operas leaking into the script there for a second what is this are you angry with me yeah did i hurt your feelings then there's silence because i'm not prepared um i need to get more

33:05prepared with this stuff um so after the whole uh blood spitting and um you know their mind makes it real um Neo is in bed he's sleeping Trinity enters from the hall carrying a tray of food and Trinity goes Neo i saved you some dinner okay she sees him passed out on the bed she sets the tray down and pulls the blanket over him oh she pauses her face close to his then inhales lightly breathing in the scent of him before slowly pulling away it seems the moment she closes the door he wakes with a start unsure of where he is after a moment he gets out of bed wow oh okay that's like

33:49the the scent of like real world Neo though like what's what's that like this is is it like new baby smell because he's just been let out baby powder sure yeah fresh human and and there's another change in the jump program where actually Morpheus um comes down and picks Neo up and goes everybody falls the first time oh no way yeah and he jumps down really just like it's like a little aladdin moment he should have said he's like i can show you it's okay it's normal and then Neo nods and anger is a gift and then Morpheus goes if you if you never know failure how can you know success come on what's up with this stupid fortune fortune fortune fortune cookie wisdom that just proves it that

34:35he definitely rigged the game like this he's saying it's like that he knows everyone will fail because the stupid building moves every time it's just programmed that way you do want to like i can imagine you know Morpheus's patter of just like the endless cycle of just like pontificating weird statements and kind of cryptic things because even like it really struck me this time around of like watching it again after a couple of years and then like when they even when they rescue him at the end like one of the first things he comes out with the Neo is just kind of like oh you're already on the path and all this kind of stuff it's like dude do you take a break why why can't you come out with one sentence this is just a sentence all right no imagine like you almost get to like the point of

35:19with Cypher it's like i can't understand why he wants to get away from this fucker he's just like i can't take him just all this fucking cylindrical logic and shit but yeah in the 96 version Morpheus just he's over the top yeah he's over the top yes and that's all i have for you right now i like that thank you for sharing you're welcome thank you philip you thank you thank you for 96 oh uh you're not you're not philip you're the prideful hobgoblin yeah i am the i'm the closet demon today the monster yeah um i don't know what else to say this is friday uh yeah everyone uh classic stuff if we miss stuff comment on the facebook wow wow terrible what you're just like at least at

36:02least you know just just forget about the rest of them just go to go to what did i do what did i do minute you do it you do it go to that one yeah the matrix minute that one just go there everything's there everything you need all the links everything there it's all there is all there the matrix one we can only show you the door you're the one who has to click on it there's a cool if you press the about page there's an awesome bottom section that has all our guests listed yes that's really cool you should check it out you can click everyone's uh lip picture the yeah episodes including niall i didn't agree to that what the hell i know we just keep we just you're gonna be meeting with my lawyers in the morning gentlemen that's right well our people will talk to your people yeah we'll

36:46sort this out yeah yeah the people will sort it out or deciding agreements deciding or your soul thank now for tolerating us uh being you being jerks and um and uh we are thankful for for for his presence thank you for having me and real yeah i will if you are you guys i'm assuming you're going to go on throughout the the whole trilogy right or are you stopping it well look it hasn't been decided but but it's 90 90 percent no we're just going to do one and then if people still want to hear from us we might do a commentary on those or a review

37:26freaking way we're surviving through six hours of blubbery play-doh agent smiths i was gonna ask like if you want me back i was gonna ask for like specifically like an Agent Smith minute just because i want to do the impression we'll just do that you're totally welcome to let's do that time oh thank you very much podcast dude yeah man we don't have rules no rules i just like i because he was the one thing i'm like oh because there's so many things that are easily easy to spoof about this but you can't really spoof Agent Smith because he's so over the top anyway so even if you if you're doing a really elaborate impression of him like oh how what good is a phone

38:06call if you're unable to speak it's that's exactly the way he does it this is like yeah you're just doing it the way he does it there's no there's no making fun of it it's like yeah he's just he's gone but plus i was really shocked at like been so used to seeing hugo weaving now going back and haven't said haven't not seen this film in a few years but like holy fuck he looks really young it's like he's the only one yeah he looks way younger than like the rest of them kind of look about the same but yeah he does the thing with the sequels is that um we really love this first movie and it's a lot of the motivation to do this is just because we really want to go through these minutes yeah i cannot picture myself going through that and also what's the point because we'll just

38:47pretty much shit on most of the time and it doesn't feel kind of fair i mean if it was like a like some crappy b movie like i wouldn't mind but since we're so love this first movie kind of feels unfair to just go and be like poop on this poop on it for about 100 episodes so we'll see we'll see we're like the opposite though like we're literally like oh we're good we're going batman batman but damn right we're gonna do batman robin we're gonna and any film oh yeah has enough material to make fun of it a minute at a time it's that one so it's like i've got a fucking ticket but that one's so rich yeah what killed the dinosaurs greatness the ice age classic but the so many things

39:28so many things they're gonna do that he never said ice to see you that's true and the simpsons had a they had a like a copyright in that one for the mcbane bits because he comes out that ice culture is like ice to see you it's like i can't literally do say what they're spoofing me saying you know but uh but if you want to yeah it should do the plug for the old people out there if you enjoyed my arnie impersonation if you enjoyed the walk-in impersonation from earlier you can hear me do an impersonations of people such as william hootkins jack nicholson that's right and jack palance over in bat minute 89 so yes right go to bat minute 89 i'll always remember that like we're batman

40:12at 89 oh thanks for it took ages to sync that up properly i still because i've been with it for so long i've been like it's still not right it's still not quite right it's like that's one of those things like that's people's first impressions the amount of people hear that go fuck this show and turn right off because it didn't get the sync exactly right it's just my paranoia so it's paranoia what what did Morpheus say about fear in the script in the 1996 script what have i told you about letting fear control your life or not letting fear control your life uh that's in the 1996 script and with that i think it's a proper ending to this this this week's uh series with niall yo hey thanks niall and uh you're always welcome back oh thanks very much yeah absolutely

41:00and uh we'll catch everyone listening that he's up next yeah i think i might have to his number has been called spoken to him about me coming on this and he's never mentioned about him he he totally picked that up that those those in those days yeah and um i guess i guess it was just way too long ago we'll find out uh but last but not least thank you dear listener for tuning in sticking with us yes thank you so much out there who's listening it's great to have you and we hope to see you again and i hope to improve my uh my my research next time yeah it's okay me and tim do all the work so anyway thank you everyone for listening thank you now good night everyone good night a great weekend
