0:00The Matrix Minute, a podcast where we discuss the first film one minute at a time because we're running out of episodes and this is almost finished minute 125 I think which means we only have three left. How does that feel? It's great and today is going to be a very special episode because today it's going to be the unedited episode. You're going to hear everything that happens in the back. We didn't plan for this Tim. What is this? The unedited episode? But now it is live so it must be done. So anytime we watch the video and everything, everything must stay in. So watch your tongue boys. We're doing it live. Wow. Why not? Well Tim just jumped on this. Well okay fine. Well you know like everyone's missing Emma so we have to make up for it. That is true. That is today's Friday. Yeah she's only here for the two episodes. This is a special behind the scenes look.
0:57All right well that's good for me. Look guys you can also tell like see this is a behind the scenes look. See I'm just testing the levels. I always get annoyed with levels to make sure they're okay. And it's very appropriate because in this minute Neo looks at the code and sees behind. Exactly. You see it's all planned. You know and these people are old school now. They've been with us 120 whatever episodes. They've been with us since the beginning. They're like a father to us. What? They're like a collective father. Yeah exactly. It's amazing. And we want to please our father. Let's address our listener. Listener we are so happy that you have listened to us and with us for this entire journey.
1:45And if you're listening in 2020 once the moon collides with the earth and you somehow found out of this. Great. We are talking to you as well. Hopefully it didn't destroy the servers that held our files. But here we are. Unedited for you. So are you saying that 125. What is our final minute for this movie? 128. Yeah. That was a nice little trumpet there. You know what? Three episodes man. I'm not the person who connects things. I hate such things like oh this is connected to that. But we have 128 episodes and this whole movie this whole shebang started with my brother.
2:29Right? Yes. He showed us the movie he was the guest. Oh this is nonsense. The fool he is my brother. Guess his favorite number. His favorite number? Yeah. 128. No. No. You're joking. Mm-hmm. No. No. That's not. Really? Yeah. Yeah. I think he had a bad like a like a whole production name after that one. One. No. Are you serious? Wow. Yes. Yes. I'm serious. What? Maybe because he knew the Matrix 128 minutes. Exactly. But but I did. Ah. This is all staying. The 128 minutes was an arbitrary part where I just stopped it during the credits.
3:11Like I clipped it off the credits. And the credits. You knew. The credits would run the credits would credits would run a couple of more minutes. Yeah. Guru Stan whispered in your ears. Yes. The guru has spirited away. Everybody. Yes. I hope you guys are enjoying yourselves as much as I am. Well. That's amazing. Jokey joke. Okay. So I mean like what could you expect for the last week? I don't know. Like whenever I listen to. I don't know. So I'll give you my perspective on Movies by Minutes podcast that I listen to. I listen to Jurassic Park Minute by Pele Media. Those guys.
3:52That was very informative. And I love listening to it because of how much you know behind the scenes digging up they actually did. And I really appreciated that. Then and that was all you know the whole thing. I listened to the whole thing. And then I listened to all three Back to the Future Minute episodes. All three of them. So Back to the Future Part 1, Part 2, Part 3. And that was also had so many wonderful like trivia. And they were digging into the script which inspired me to do the script stuff. Okay. So I have a question really quick. And it was Scott Corelli and the Kimenez who were doing that. How did our trivia compare to let's say some other. Oh yeah. Actually let me let me rephrase that. How did Phil's trivia compare? Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Yes. Yes.
4:32How did your trivia compare to informationally speaking and volume speaking and quality speaking? I mean not to compare ourselves in the sense of like who's better. I'm just saying like in the terms of how much do we. Did we do. Did we do. Okay. Yeah. I think we did pretty well. I think we did quite well. Cool. In comparison. The only thing that there's a difference of is I think I can compare a lot with Scott Corelli who did Back to the Future. He was the one who always brought in the research from the script. I think he's a little bit more eloquent than I am when I start explaining things. And because Nick Jimenez, his co-host, doesn't do any of that stuff. So it's like it's a one-man show.
5:16We're the Nick Jimenez of The Matrix. Yeah. Yeah. And there's two of us so it's better. Yeah. And as far as the guys who did Pele Media, I don't remember their names. I forgot. But both of them had equal amounts of information to share with each other. So it was like a back and forth which was, you know, nice. It must have been easy for them. So that's nice. Is that a passive aggressive just at R&D? It must have been easy. It must have been great. It must have been like a really good experience. And I have to podcast with these two bumbling idiots. Yep. Morons who come up and just be like, so Phil, what are you doing? Get drunk and just be like, Phil, what if? Hey, here's a piece of trivia about Jurassic Park that I read today. Oh, brilliant. Did you know that James Cameron was a few hours too late to buy the rights for the Jurassic Park movie?
6:01You know, Spielberg snagged it a few hours before him. So would you imagine a James Cameron Jurassic Park? Yeah. I see that you've been reading Reddit today as well. Revealed. Revealed. You know what's funny? That's so funny. Tim, I was thinking, I was like, were you reading like a making of book or something all of a sudden? On a, what is today? Subreddit. Tuesday evening. Just like, what is this? I didn't even bother to read the article. Just read the headline. I'm sorry, man. Jurassic Park. Yeah. What could have been? Lovely. Well, the good thing about Jurassic Park is that it has a lot of behind the scenes that have been out there. You know, there's so many photos.
6:41There's so many different versions you can look at. In fact, Jigem and I went and watched the open canvas, open matte version of Jurassic Park. It was like the full, you know, film frame version where that was uncropped. Yeah. It was interesting because in that film, if you go and find this version, which I don't know. It's on my spleen. If you have to watch it. The cast is actually expanded in that film. There's a new character that appears on the edge of every screen. No, there are new characters. They're called boom mic holders. And they follow the actors around. And so if you watch like Ellie and Alan talking to John Hammond, there's not three of them in there.
7:24There's like six of them. Yeah. Yeah. Because everyone gets their own boom mic. And you can see it above them. And it completely destroys the scene. Yeah. Because you're like, oh, well, they're acting. Yeah. So we like stuff like that. And, but yeah, Jurassic Park has a lot more behind the scenes stuff that you can dig up. More so than the Matrix. Matrix is quite limited. Yeah. With the introduction by Darth Vader himself. Join us on the journey. Oh, yes. Yes. For the behind the scenes. For the making of the classic one. The evil fluff. 16 million years in the making. I can't do his voice. Yeah. I love those 90s behind the scenes.
8:05Everything has to be super important. Like two minutes of information and the rest is like music and. And now everything is music and just clips because I was watching a little bit of The Last Jedi behind the scenes and. Oh, yeah. Just like B-roll stuff. Did you watch the documentary? Not yet. I just watched the, like the effects and stuff. What do you guys think of the abbreviation FX for effects? I hate it. It's fine. It's dumb. Why? I don't know. I just don't like it. It works well because it's, you know, onomatopoeia. FX. But then again, though, it is kind of like Christmas, you know, Xmas. There you go. Maybe I do like it. Yeah. So the Matrix was difficult to look at because I only had a few sources.
8:49That's some trivia too, since we're on this whole trivia behind the scenes. Sometimes I can't hear Tim when he says something. Oh, yeah. And then I only hear it in post when I edit. You edited it by a master, the podcast. And I go, oh. It's always have a little, you know, whisper note. But I heard it this time. And so when I, and also when I edit, I also sometimes, you know, quiet some people out. So more important. Wow. So some more important. Wow. What? So who did you quiet? So more important, like when there's a guest and one of us, one of us kind of speaks too loudly and the guest is talking about something, I quiet us out. It's unreasonable because, I mean, he's the main content in that segment.
9:32But it's true. So we don't want someone going back and, yeah. Just because, you know, internet is too late, that's not our fault. You did great, Philip. Thank you. You're a good man. Thank you. Now I don't have to edit. Jacob, you can just keep it and you can just master it and that's it. It's amazing. Awesome. It's the first time ever. Yeah. Well, anyway, welcome to Minute 125. And in this episode, Neo makes his miraculous resurrection. All right. This is a Matrix Minute. Yeah. You thought we were doing Jurassic Park? I thought we were just talking. Slash Little Ring slash whatever. I thought we were just talking and just releasing it. Yeah. Releasing the hounds. And I'll tell you what happens in Minute 125. All right.
10:14The bullets are frozen in midair. Neo casually picks one of them up and looks at them, then lets them drop. In the neb, Tank asks how and Morpheus finally can say for certain, he is the one. Music swells as we see Neo's point of view. He can see through the facade of the Matrix and into the code. The Matrix and me? An outraged Smith charges at him and attempts to fight. But Neo easily and literally single-handedly overpowers him. He is kicked 20 feet through the hallway. Neo triumphant. Smith gets up and Neo makes a move and jumps into Smith's own body, disappearing into him.
10:57Smith simply looks back at the other agents in horror. Okay, you guys ready? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ready, Tim? Yeah, yeah. This is the behind the scenes stuff that no one... That's true, that's true, that's true. This is the first time. This is the moment where we, me and Jake, actually get to see the movie. Yeah, because me and Tim, we just watch the clip when we come in. When I provide it, yeah. Yeah, Phil provides us the goods. We receive the goods on Dropbox. And this is the first time you guys listen to it. This has been happening every episode. Every episode. Yeah, we cut this part out. Yeah, but not today. For your own good, but now you must suffer. Just for information, we have seen The Matrix before. Oh yeah, that's true. Just to put that out there. Those weren't fabricated lies you guys wrote.
11:37You didn't, you know. Yeah, I know. Oh God. Okay, ready, Tim? Yep. Play. Ah, yes, the bullets. I love that music. Okay, but the sound effect I never liked, the listen when the bullets drop. Why couldn't they be like... I know, but that's what bullets sound. It gives the effect that they're nothing, actually, you know? That is true, that is true. I love this. I hate this 60 frames per second. Nonsense. No, this is great on a thematic, like, level. Like, he sees through. Also, guys, we'll talk about this in a minute, but this is perfect juxtaposition of him becoming the Morpheus.
12:18All of this is perfect, you know. And... The cables are perfect. Spaghetti. Mom's spaghetti. Oh, the spaghetti. The string. And there's six bullets in this. Are we going to have... Okay, good. This is not... Oh, no, no, it is. I described it, guys. I know, but... Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Poof! And he's gone. Oh, good. We're saved of the worst moment in the entire... Yeah, we're doing that next time. Film. Which will be edited next time. Yeah. Which is true. Oh, so... So, we're back. We're here. Yes, we are. This is where you would chime in. Yeah. That's right. Listening. You'd seamlessly splice it in.
12:58Yeah. And it's usually Jacob going, okay. Is it really? Yeah. Okay. Ready? Okay. Okay, so... There you go. This is a beautiful shot here. Neo is up. He's making the agents scared for the first time. What shot? What? What shot? The agents are scared. Neo is like... I think he's just continuing with the story. I mean, we don't actually see the shot. He's touching the bullets. That's the first time we see Neo. That's what I'm saying. Oh. Yeah. Neo is like... Just stopped all the bullets. And that shot of just... You know, it's the... You know, Neo on one end of the frame and the bullets on the other end of the frame.
13:39Somehow it just looks so good. Oh, it looks amazing. Like how he's just gonna grab those bullets. Just looks so like... Real. I love it. I love it. This is, you know, what some people call... I love ending like this. I love... I love the ending of Witch. I love any ending that just like... Takes it up like a million a notch. I think I mentioned this before. Yeah, we talked about that. This is to me a satisfying ending. This is great. It pays off so well. It's just great. Like everything you build up to and then you give it to the people. You know, you don't do a... Is he the one? He's not the one. You know, like a crappy... What is the end? Just show it. And then, you know, if it sucks, it sucks. But if it works, it works. I'm sorry.
14:19Someone's gone. I'm at the table. Jacob fell over. No, no, I'm fine. Hit my knee. Jacob died. Hit my knee on my desk. Because... I totally agree with you. And there's like... There's loads of shitty effects in this scene. But the build up and the, you know, the building of the blocks so you can have this ending is the foundation. And if the foundation isn't there, you know, it's going to crumble. And in this case, you know, the foundation is so great that even the crappy effects like stupid 60 frames per second code, you know, buzzing by. It doesn't break it. It doesn't break the illusion. Even us watching this bit by bit, you know, minute by minute every week, it still works. You're into it.
14:59It's still fine. That is true. We are into it, even if we haven't watched the movie in one go. And the close-up of Neo just, you know, after he drops all the bullets and then, you know, finally Morpheus can go, he is the one. As if we haven't seen that many times. Yeah, Neo's look is great here because you can just see that he has a very different look. Yeah, and who can say, like, who can say Keanu isn't good at acting? Look at him. This is his default face. Just like, don't go in motion. He is. He's seeing. Yeah, he's seeing. Seeing the code. You can see in his eyes. Yeah. I think his eyes. But I think that's marijuana. Look at his pupils. They're so dilated. That's what they were doing on the set.
15:40Pink eye. Just get him stoned. And then he's like, what? Excellent. So you guys, what do you guys think about this effect shot? Let's talk about the effect shot. It's great, except it's moving too fast. Let me see. The shutter speed is all wonky. They need some, they need some. Oh yeah, you're right. It is kind of smooth. It's too smooth. That's the only problem. They needed to, you know, simulate the shutter speed of a 180, you know. But it's such a nice image, like. If you pause it, it's wonderful. It starts moving. It's just like, it's, it's just a, you know, whatever that word is. It's too smooth. It's too smooth compared to. Do you guys ever notice that the code has sort of like a little filter on it?
16:26What does that mean? It has sort of like ridges, almost like a television. Oh, like an end. Oh yeah, like a CRT, like a CRT sort of filter. Yeah, grids. Thank you. Yeah. Sort of a grid. When you look at the close-up ones on the sides. It's also very interesting to, to, let's look at some details because everything in the building is sort of standard code, but then the three men in the back, they are quite holy. Yes, they are holy codes. I wonder what that means because they don't look, they're still coded, but they look like they're special coded. Well, I mean, I don't want to get into the sequels now, but do we know anything how he looks at the code in the sequels?
17:07Is there something? Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's some. There's a difference. Yeah, there's some difference. I don't know how I'm going to do all the research for that one. No, I meant like maybe, maybe like, you know, agents, whether, you know, artificial or organic, maybe they all look like this. I don't know. Or is it specific for the agents? I think it's for everybody. I don't know. Yeah. Like every human is special. It's not just like. They're just glowy because there's so much code in them. They have to code overload. Code overload. Code overload. But then again, what is this saying? Like this is Neo's vision, right? Yeah. Well, I wanted to also wonder about this. So this is sort of the idea, right? The culmination of all the philosophical and religious storytelling and that this is Neo's
17:50true moment of enlightenment where he's truly reborn. I was just about to go that way, that it's great. Like this is good writing 101, that it's two things. One, we can go about a technical science fiction-y things. Oh, look, they're more, you know, brighter than the other thing. That's very technical kind of level. But on the other hand, you have the whole enlightenment and his journey and everything. That's great. You can continue. It's interesting because this is, I think, I don't know how many films have done this, but what's interesting is that this is a both of, like you said, a visual. We actually visually see this change. Yes. In Neo, in our main character. And it's not just a change from within. It's like a physical slash.
18:31Transformation. Transformation. But I wonder though, what, because I've read a few things about this, but I forgot, like from those philosophy books and stuff about the Matrix. Is this supposed to be like Neo is seeing the world for what it is sort of a thing? Or I don't know. There's so much. I think so. He sees the shadows now. Yeah, I guess. Yeah, you're right. Yeah. He sees the shadows. Yeah. From the caveman. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I mean, there's a lot of stuff I really don't know. But the thing is that they all knew it wasn't real when they were there. But they can clearly see that there's one thing about knowing. Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's kind of true though.
19:12Like, you know, like knowing the path and walking the path. He believes now, truly. And because of his belief, he can now see. I mean, I don't know if that applies. I don't know either. Because that's Morpheus' way of thinking. Because honestly, this is something more. It's true. But this is more. This is he actually died. And that had some kind of effect on it. Like, it's not just like at one point he started to believe. And then he's not like, well, let's say if you compare this to Christianity, like you have followers of Jesus, you know. And at one point they believe and they see the world what it is. This is more like Jesus himself. He actually died and like, you know. Right. It's a special event. It's some kind of transformation. Exactly.
19:52Exactly. You know, initially. Now, because he is transformed, you know, they are stronger believers, you know. Morpheus, I don't know if he can be stronger believers or not. But Trinity, on the other hand, sure is. She's a convert, you know. Well, I have to say that this Morpheus is, I think that's one of the things that they did pretty well with Morpheus for the second and third movie. What? What are you saying? We're going to do the, yeah, we're going to do. Well, we're going to talk about that soon. Yeah, it's going to soon happen. But like, you know, it makes Morpheus a stronger believer and he becomes very overconfident. And Trinity a stronger lover, as we will see. Sorry. It's going to be such a great sheen.
20:34Sheen. But yeah, I wish I had better things to say. But to be honest, a lot of these things are, you have to get into the material to understand the ideas and the meanings behind a scene like this. And there's, of course, a lot of interpretations and there's different ways to look at it. But it's sort of... Yeah. And it has to be your interest as well. If someone who's obsessed with enlightenment or something like that, they daily read about this stuff, they would obviously see all the connections. They'll sit down and go like, oh, of course, you know, in this book of, you know, the Arabian Nights, you know... Yeah. Sorry. Yeah.
21:15Have you guys ever seen those books like X-Men and Philosophy and stuff like that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The funny thing... I've seen them. I never touched them. I remember I flipped through one once at a bookstore. And basically, I mean, they're all similar. They're all similar because a lot of... Every movie deals with similar themes and similar philosophical problems and ethical problems and stuff like that. Well, of course. So, like you were saying, Tim, you really have to be interested in those ideas in order to see them in movies. Because you can take... You can pretty much watch any movie and take away what you want to take away from it and go like, oh, that reminds me of this, which I'm, you know, interested in and stuff like that.
21:56Yeah, you'll see the connections or whatever you're interested in. Exactly. Yourself. It's just... Which is a shame that we didn't get to manage to get, you know, a spiritual guru in here to have a look at this movie. And give us some notes. We never did, unfortunately. But the Cornelius was too busy. Yeah, Cornelius. Should we have gotten Cornel West? How strange would our podcast be with Cornel West? I think it'd be amazing. They'd be pretty good. We could also be asking about what it was like on the set. Oh, man. It was great. It'd be awesome. Yeah. So, we apologize for that. But you as listeners, you can always write to us. Yeah, please. And if this is 2020 and the moon has collided into the...
22:36And you're writing to us and we get to our email, you know what? For you, we'll upload a new episode of retconning all the spiritual stuff. Oh, there we go. That's pretty hefty. We'll do it for you because we are lacking, you know, a bit. I have to say. But you're saying we'll see in 2020. Well, if they arrive in 2019, we'll do it then. I don't give a shit. We'll see. Okay. Promises. Promises. Yeah. Tim, you're a man of promises. Yeah, man of promises. I wanted to say that in that code shot, I just wanted to mention how cool it is seeing the cables and the tubes having their own little matrix code.
23:17Yeah, you got some bob of spaghetti. Just swimming in there, making the shape. Well, no, it's code flowing through the pipes. Yeah, but it's creating the shape and that's cool. Oh. Do you see it? Yeah. Yeah, it's cool. I wanted to mention, we're going to go into the script, of course. We're almost done with the script as well. And in the 1998 script and in Tani Kinutake, his concept art for this particular scene, Neo was meant to, like, you know, when he holds the bullet, he looks at it and then the camera was going to do this kind of expensive CG shot where it goes into his reflection when he looks at the bullet.
23:58So it's a little bit the same. You know, you remember how they did that? Yeah. You remember how they did that with, they did that with something where, oh, they did that in which it was reloaded. Yeah. Also, they did a doorknob. Like, you can see him. Like, there's, like, many reflection-y kind of things. Yeah, yeah. That reflection thing. But it would, you know, the camera would go into the bullet reflection. It would be the shot again. You know, like, loops itself. Oh, like they do, like, yeah. Yeah. That was a shot in, like, Thor Ragnarok. Last one I saw. Oh, really? Yeah. I've only seen that once. You look at the reflection and it kind of, like, switches to the reality and you're, like, all messed up. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. So, yeah, he's the one.
24:39And the music, I just have to mention, beautiful Don Davis, triumphant crescendo music. And it has the choir going and the horns blasting. Oh, there's some trivia here. I have a bit of trivia. We're done. I have trivia again, guys. Good, good. You do trivia and then I have to scold Philip for something. It's been, it's been, it's been 60 or more episodes and I didn't have trivia, but now I have trivia and it's actually something that Phil told me. So, I'm technically stealing trivia. Go. I'm building it up. It's been a long time. Okay. And when Neo kicks Agent Smith, the music goes. This is the last episode, right? Sing it, Phil. Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum.
25:19Yeah. And that's a reference to the suite from 2001 Space Odyssey. Yeah. And that's a reference to that. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Okay. Like he's the, he, he, the, the, the, the bone is in his hand and he's like kicking the other monkeys. It's very similar. Dun, dun, dun. Dun, dun, dun. Right? Yeah. Dun, dun, dun, dun. Yeah. So those, those horns are, are similar on purpose. That does make sense. That, that makes sense. Lovely bit of trivia there. So Tim, what did you want to scold me about? Oh yeah. Okay. So this is unedited so I can do it. so phil a lot of times you mention things you want to mention and you say they're cool but you never say why and you explain what they are but you never say why
26:01so what is cool about those give me what does it make you feel like like what what is the impression what's the point of it like okay well so you say the cables are cool right there's there's there's there's cables going there's code going through the cables okay okay and that's cool okay i'll tell you okay sorry okay well okay i'll describe it some more what i like about these cables and the way the code is flowing through it is that it gives a sense of motion that i think works so well within the composition of the of of the shot because uh if the cable if the code was just kind of like just flickering on and off and it would just be solid it wouldn't be as fluid as um the you know like the tube so behind the agent it's perfect there you go there's there's a great explanation for it you
26:45should you should give this to well because i'm a little shy you know i'm a little shy what do you mean it's okay don't say like the the light looks good on your face like that's not enough of the podcast explain how it makes you feel okay gives it to the shot it's good these people need to know it's good you know you could have told me this maybe you could have done it yourself i know i know i know i i i i was i was trying to be a nice guy but i had a bit too many beers today and it's on an edit and i don't give a shit i want a beer okay okay uh it's no i just have water i have nothing so so can i plug this beer this is a a beer that was brewed and that isn't even a microbrewery now it's only a bar i know these people they're lovely people every time they
27:27brew a batch batch they leave fantastic guys some some for me uh we were visiting uh my old town where i grew up in and they loved a few bottles for me this was a nice belgian um ale that they tried this time and it was absolutely lovely you're never going to listen to this but i enjoyed it first i was not enough flavor not enough but once i got into it i got it i got it you know it's more drinkable kind of beer it's great it's awesome so good repeat it what was it called what's it called yeah what their beer that doesn't have a name um but you can go to their place it's called tulip tulip in slovakia no no in serbia in serbia in glosian in glosian so look it up and drive there
28:10start planning your your your trips and yeah they might give you beer but they might not so you know maybe they will maybe it's not the season or something and so pretty much time it with tim getting contact with tim when he's visiting yes and then he'll arrange it with you yeah i'll take you it's gonna be lovely and you can ask him what you want to ask him about the matrix minute that's right he'll be there to answer your questions just buy me beer and i'll answer all you tim will you also promise our listeners a free trip or where to serbia to visit from any kind of world what am i made of money no buy your own damn tickets i wasn't sure i thought maybe you also promised that one i'll
28:51i'll buy you a beer you know and then you buy me a beer and oh great let's hold on what an offer i'll buy you i love this this is a good and then you buy me a beer and we're even so it's basically like none of us had to do anything it's like we both bought each other hey it's got communism it's like we both bought ourselves a beer yeah everyone bought something and then we're all happy okay sounds good so if you want to hang out with tim and have a good time ask if the matrix minute dot one so jake yeah so since it's out edited what have you got to you know i forgot the expression take it off your chest no yeah get it off your chest yeah like you mean from for all this yeah yeah
29:33because phil can't edit it it's just putting on me on the spot i don't know i don't know what to say then then you're that's perfect then then you're satisfied there's nothing nothing to you know if there's nothing on your mind first well i think maybe no actually what i do i'm sorry go well i guess since since we're on the topic of phil i think that you used to do this but you don't do this anymore but remember the whole like oh yeah making your presence aware i stopped that that was annoying okay so we can we can we can praise phil and he won't edit it out thanks you have improved my my man but to be honest i have nothing i have no honestly no qualms this was a joy this whole podcast i think honestly if i was if this was me so i'm 25 now if
30:15this was me when i was 22 or 21 i would have been like oh man i wish we would have gotten more into like the serious deep stuff but to be honest i think that i think it's great how it turned out because we're not professionals when it comes to that i mean i am interested in that but i think i was more interested in that when i was a little bit younger and i think that you know i'm not the best at explaining these things and i'm not the best at transferring this knowledge because even for me a lot of it's confusing to be honest so i think that i'm really happy how it turned out because our blend was trying to be fun we were ourselves that's the most important most important part most important part of the podcast we were ourselves um we we talked about what we liked about this movie
30:59but we didn't just talk about the movie we also put in our own anecdotes and stories yeah and also our our approaches to how we like to watch movies because that's changed over the years true and i also like that we did try to talk about some of the heavier stuff in the movie but i think that we were being honest with ourselves and with our audience that we are not necessarily smart individuals which i think is good i'm not not saying we're stupid i'm just saying that we're not like we're not trying to pretend that we know something we don't yeah and that's we are not you know the appointed uh official spokesman of the matrix we are just commentators yeah or not even just the matrix but like of other things that we're you know trying to get into and talk about a little bit
31:41we were just i think doing our best with what we knew and that's that's what i'm happy with yes i think we did it for the whole podcast yep you know i know and i honestly have nothing really to say it's good that's good that's good so uh the orchestra the music is triumphant and it's it's loud and you would expect a movie like this to not have such a traditional um pit orchestra sound you know you have to this would be really awkward if it didn't because it's just like star wars where uh without the music you know like half of this thing no i'm saying why do you not expect
32:22to have a pit orchestra well because it feels like this kind of a movie would be more like electronic would be more hans zimmer so i think the best movies are when you blend the let's say in this case the sci-fi and stuff with classical orchestra that always works foolproof well look i don't know that's that's an objective you know kind of thought it's not you do whatever the hell you want and you can make it work to claim i'm just saying that i think subjectively okay it's generally foolproof in the sense that most movies you watch it works and not necessarily there's been a lot of movies where you're just like this does not fit like this is not grandiose enough you don't have enough build up to put you know to pull off this this whole orchestra just okay what about
33:05most good movies i mean i don't know like i i don't i don't think you know orchestral piece is you know like like the box turn like you can't go wrong with that kind of thing you can definitely go wrong with it you can go wrong overall it tends to work well this is let's let's just let's just let's just you know i think i agree with tim this is going to go into a pit of despair despair and we'll never this is good this is going to be like our like our minecraft conversation we talked about art let's not go there talk let's just not go there we're just talking about the same thing for like five hours we agree to disagree that i'm not making any claims here i'm just saying that i think that a lot of movies when they stick to the orchestral music it tends to work because it's
33:48sort of a universal sort of music that word again universal that's that's that's that's where we disagree that's the problem okay how about this let's put this way we're not gonna get into this a universal universal but we contextualize it to recent years and and uh contemporary uh uh mindsets and things like this so i'm localizing and i'm not expanding it to be universal forever and ever okay i'll give it that it's certainly it implies a certain a certain expectation of grandiose because orchestral music is is held it as a grand and people in our time for instance in our local time let's say i don't know the local time being 10 p.m no no no i'm saying it's local time in history saying let's
34:30just let's just even grant the last 10 years or 20 years where people are used to orchestral music um uh uh feedback not feedback but they're used to the response the response the emotional response to orchestral music is generally the same yeah i mean which is fine you know like it when you put it you know when you when you kind of scale it down you know yes that involve the whole goddamn universe in this that's why i localized it for you localize it's good it's good local time so we keep it local 9 p.m est um yeah it it it makes sense but i think in this case if this was just ironically in this case if you want me to do it just sounds and no music you can hear it i'll do
35:11i mean ironically i just said five minutes ago it'll be hilarious it was just sounds but it could it work you know you never know but i i like it i that's what i said at the beginning of this episode i like that it goes you know just just just full retard honestly you know just like pop pop pop pop it's ow i hit my hand on the box but you know it's interesting i have a question for you guys with this music and this is sort of the uh this is a more traditional sort of hero ending where the music is majestic can we agree that the music would be characterized as majestic sounding well yeah as an intention i think the word would be uh poop what what is that word
35:51wow it's associated with not enough strong it's not glorious not victorious something triumphant triumphant that's the one triumphant triumphant is good so my question for you is this i always wondered this personally is what did the wachowskis think uh when it came to this kind of scene uh being done this way with this kind of music and this sort of triumphant i always wondered do you guys have anything like it was intentional they went for it and we're just like i always wonder because the wachowskis they're very you know particular with their rock music no no no no i'm just saying like you know their storytelling wise is is not really oh audio it's like more visual
36:34right no no no like the the way they tell stories they they they keep things very gray and they also are very um diverse like we said in their palette of ideas and thoughts and things like that they're never really pushing a message in their films okay i see what you mean it's like this is too specific like yeah and so i'm wondering like an emotion too they don't do that and so you know maybe their uh approach in storytelling is that they don't want to you know create like a like a sort of good versus evil paradigm so to speak so my question is for this kind of triumphant ending i always wondered what they thought about that personally did they like it were they happy with it or were they kind
37:18of like going okay it'll work for what we're doing or oh i don't know you're gonna have to ask one of them i wish i knew like in 2020 they're gonna email us that's true i mean at one point like it could be a situation where you know don davis they had something completely different in mind and he just plopped it there and played it from like you know what this actually works yeah yeah that sounds like the most true option and also maybe maybe they also just sort of you know sometimes you get to the point where you're making something and even though you're trying to be multifaceted and things like this and very gray ultimately sometimes you'll just say you know what this totally works and you just embrace it and go that's a cool hero ending right because sometimes it's great
38:00sometimes it's victorious yeah in a story when you want to when you want to show like the triumphant because i also think it doesn't necessarily be bad because some people say like well you can't have that but it's like yeah you can have that sometimes and it totally works i'm just playing the notes so people get familiar with the music okay yeah because i can't no there won't because i'm not editing it oh yeah that's true yeah there's no editing this is just raw raw steak like like that those notes like does that have anything to do with them like the matrix because the matrix goes so that's a good question i don't know that's true we would have to look at the notes so anyway i don't know how to read notes sadly Agent Smith runs runs at him runs at him and he's he starts
38:45kung fu-ing him but a but Neo is very calm this time oh yes i can talk about this now and he he probably sees things in slow motion or whatever you know like um sherlock holmes in the sherlock holmes movie he starts calculating well like since since you the listener have listened to the behind the scenes of us watching the clip you know i'm gonna say and that is that i do really enjoy that this is the full circle moment where Neo becomes um becomes uh Morpheus in the sense of how Morpheus was slow yet fast at the dojo yes i didn't i forgot about that and Neo here completely realizes this and you can tell the look on his face he's just noticing his arms moving and he's realizing it's sort of the idea
39:27like you know like time doesn't exist space doesn't exist he's looking when he's fighting uh Agent Smith in that one profile shot where you see both of them in the same frame he's just thinking oh man i remember when norpheus sure sure sure and an interesting fact that you might miss on a first viewing is that he switches from two hands to one hand yeah yeah one hand that's the right part more efficiency only one hand is needed the other one can just stand and i love also the Agent Smith turns into the the novice the Neo yeah from the dojo flailing his arms trying to be faster and he's trying as much as he can to beat him but he can't because he's missing the whole point yeah it's awesome that's great this is so good this is so good it's really good um also a little detail when uh when when
40:15Agent Smith flies and you have the um the shot of him on the ground being surprised if you look at the background the blue background one of the agent is holding the other one to stop oh really oh you're right what is this it's like no let him let him beat him this is for his own good i never noticed that like what do you think the story was for that do you think they filmed some extra shots of one of the and he's like no no don't don't go he's too dangerous i don't know it's funny it's like either he's like letting letting like Neo have his way or it's like no don't go it's too dangerous yeah that's what it looks like um uh but before that uh i just want to keep gushing about this the one where
40:59you know Neo is seeing how slow smith is now and just uh you know like just flexing his new uh acquired muscles you know like his his his his muscles his muscles and then i love that you know the the the wounds are still there Neo's uh uh you know nail wounds that's true yeah that's true um and and just the way that he's turning around and puts his hand behind his back and then just and i remember seeing this for the first time and i was just yes and i remember my dad was like wow you know yeah our dad gets very excited um and uh the good men to win and and they're fighting
41:45and they're fighting behind the with the the the room uh where Trinity starts and you know it's a lot dirtier than than it looks now a lot more than like the Trinity room instead of when he's running around there's more light also all these cables yeah you can rewind the video a little bit back there just before these close-up shots why see there it is there's the room yeah that's the room it's still that is right that's right that is the Trinity room there's the the print on the wall yeah remember we were talking about that long time ago yeah a long long time ago we were so scared we're like oh is this good air freight what was what does it say oh i still don't know i was like it was like um to rent the rooms right like boarding houses yeah yeah we thought it was hoarding but it's
42:30boarding i think it's boarding yeah sense right we were afraid we were city boarding was that a good enough was it good enough amazing see we've come back and now we are masters of our destiny also should we should we reveal since we're so revealing should i wanted to keep it for the end of the last episode but it's okay no one cares let's do it let's go i just wanted to say i wanted to reveal how many episodes we stocked up on before yeah yeah yeah go on the um go go go the podcast and we were so excited we're like oh we're gonna be the smartest people ever let's stock up on 10 episodes yeah 10 episodes thinking ahead smart investment and we're like this is gonna be great 10 episodes make so much sense and then um we went should i even reveal this stuff yes reveal it for other
43:12podcasts i don't know if they would want that but anyway we found out was that basically our count was quite low our stocking up count yeah wasn't that high and we thought it was compared to other movies by minutes yeah and it's just it was productions it was very um interesting it was very eye-opening to us that and there's many people who record like 30 episodes yeah i didn't i because and we've never done that we've just done like like 10 but it wasn't that bad to be honest i kind of i kind of like that we did 10 and we kept the momentum we kept those 10 we did stocked as we kept recording every week still yeah and then it kind of sort of until something happened i can't remember what it was and then we just kept cutting it close yeah yeah and uh these things happen and now you know like
43:54we've we've always been just a couple of days before our premiere apologize publicly for the few times that we were late with releasing episodes i don't think it was that much to be honest i think i tried it was a couple hours right it was pretty good but there was a handful of episodes where just because of circumstance we couldn't get up at the exact same time but we did get it usually on the same day i don't think we've ever missed a day nope i don't think we missed a day which is good today which is great think about that first time good job guys yeah well good job with you guys i didn't oh yeah that's true the wizard being me and phil yeah me and you good job phil thanks good job jacob thank you
44:38uh so what else is there tim you did a good job talking yes but we still have three more episodes to go so we can't completely congratulate you until we finish it yes yeah that's right that's a good i might i might stop talking we'll we'll congratulate you handsomely when uh we will reward you handsomely but we expect a reward in return i will get you a beer but i expect you to pay me yes come in so Neo when after he kicks Agent Smith and the the trumpet he holds up his leg without a trumpet and you want to know a secret they use the string yeah use the string to hold this string was holding his foot that's impossible yeah to hold that foot like that and plus because remember keanu
45:19neck troubles yeah so and it's and it looks like a like a like a milking pig with his three milking nipples on his chest that's correct three i mean sorry six six six yeah yes that's that's what they're going for the milking pig that's the symbolism yeah of uh the lactating pig mother it's symbolism of um mother's milk i was gonna mention uh never mind it's over he's taking too long he's uh the mother mother nature yeah mother's milk oh so yeah like uh he provides yeah yeah and and as much as i love jumping the ship
46:00shark or whatever and going all out but then at the end of this happens something that i'm yeah i'm not sure if i am let's talk about this 100 okay with this i'm not okay with this i think this is you're not okay with it either okay yeah no this goes into the wait you're also not okay are you i think i know what you're talking about right here yeah he starts he starts running neil jumping into Agent Smith yes jump in the pool just just jumping in and this is going to this is the first part that's going to take us into the unfortunately worst part of the matrix the magical journey and it's true it's like there is a worst part of the matrix sadly and it is and it is at the
46:41end it is at the end but it starts with neil jumping into Agent Smith yeah i i have a i have an alternative version for how this could have been much better but i'll keep i'll save it for the next step okay okay that sounds good and also guys i have to say the effect is not that great too i'm looking at it right now and i think it's not that bad for the time but still it looks like it's going into his belly he's just like and there's a little wiggle like a little like a wave yeah but they did that to mask the stupidity of it wait where's the wave like it's not a wave it's more like a you know like a forming of of like a crater as he's going yeah yeah just a little bit like the bullet and like look at the blue screen Neo just when you pause it you can see it's like a little jet
47:29make that a gif you know just yeah just and there's no shadow either i don't think oh oh there is a little one yeah there's a little shadow um but i think that you know the way to fix this would have been just made making it faster just like we'll wait but it's great alternative but i like the shot before that where Agent Smith is he stands up he's he's you know he's ready to face him again and you see Neo just kind of picking up speed in uh in the hallway towards the camera i love that shot look at it look because talk about that and i'll tell you why i love it yes yes yes he learns he learns i'll tell you why because of how the lighting is coming in from all these different doorways and the way
48:09Neo is lit with that side light and how he's moving in and out from the shadow and the way his body language is you know starting to pick up speed it gives a kind of slow motion isn't it oh yeah yeah it's a little slow motion yeah it gives a little sinister feel and it's aggressive and it feels like oh you you know you're gonna get it and it's a little scary and i love it that's what i love it's really interesting yeah maybe i should have done this this whole time you should have done this in time yes i'm so sorry i should have mentioned it before now i know what you mean because if i was like i wonder i wonder oh man i'm sorry well well you went to me we all done we all done but but you know i wanted to say all by each other is that yes uh guys what i forgot now oh i'm so sorry jacob
48:56oh yes yes keanu reeves uh canaries did you guys ever notice that keanu has a very distinct way of walking does he yes he does no i have described describe describe what do you mean well for instance keanu reeves he usually take us to this educational okay well uh usually when he steps forward his um oh yes his foot his feet both feet usually are sort of pointed inward more in cowboy right word interesting yeah yeah yeah like a duck not a cowboy the opposite like inward more inward so like like a duck like a duck the duck walk it's very interesting because he usually walks like that and you can tell in this scene when he's walking you see how his foot see how slightly inward yeah wow yeah you never noticed this i never noticed i mean i subconsciously i see what you mean
49:40i see what you mean keanu reeves he walks like that and it's very intriguing to me because i think we all have different walks and that's his walk that's silly on a walk yeah also does he make a good walk on the topic did you guys know that some people lead with their toes and some people lead with their heel when they walk it's also very important when you do running as well oh tell me tim wait wait i'm a healer are you guys all healers yeah i'm heal most people are healers and the reason they are healers is because we have modern sneakers where you have lots of cushions so your body can take the impact you know when you have like a big cushion you like you know so it can take it saying that maybe we would have normally been towers but if you wore sandals or you wore barefoot
50:23you're not gonna walk with your heel you're uh like uh souls bones would be a broken body ouch a 30 it's just too much impact but just like slamming on that you know you know like when you run like there's people like barefoot runners of marathons it was scary as hell but they always you know tiptoe and some some runners they they buy like souls that um sneakers they buy souls from satan yes one soul please they buy sneakers that are like flat so they can run on their toes interesting that's very interesting so it's true that like you know see all the animals all the animals all the animals
51:05yeah they all kind of they use their i don't know what the anatomical term is but like unless you're like i believe is the anatomical correct term tozalius tozalius tozalius primorium good save exactly um just like the amazing um can we still talk about Morpheus can we still can we still can we still talk about how um that stupid effects shot looks i don't know what else sure go ahead lock yourself out i always wondered if Neo was slightly too big in this shot but i think his feet are too long yeah his feet are like super long they are superman look at this look at the scale yeah okay
51:46i think there's a there's a there's a magical shot at 56 seconds i think and that is our screenshot right now just the feet just like zooming into this one well yeah and smith is just kind of like it could be that you're about to punch him or something could be the nears coming out of smith but oh i mean i think it's also because a sort of anamorphic shot that it's really wide so you know Neo comes in he's like he's like long snake throughout you know the entire shot oh uh fun fact this movie wasn't shot anamorphic oh what was it you you fool okay what was it it's
52:27just prime like you know like the just the super 35 then cropped yeah there's a boom somewhere out there oh man we watched a little bit of it if you just like move in the black uh bars there's a boom mic cast version of this one yeah it's funny this and lord of the rings are both not anamorphic i think they do that because it's easier to comp the um effects shots into it but now that doesn't really matter anymore that is true you have to like do some extra calculations not anymore no now it's all just like magic it's all good in the hood do you guys realize we don't have any guests anymore that's right emma was our last guest unless phil osterhouse shows up sometime yep phil phil
53:10phil if you show up you're the prodigal son the prodigal son well hopefully that'd be he could be the final episode i mean he can be in the episode 2020 if he shows up oh yeah that's true yeah the one the promised one yeah the promise episode yeah the golden episode yeah yeah all right that's enough i'm done with this oh okay anything else you want to say well i thought we were going to go through the script yeah will there be a jingling well we have to talk is there stuff in the script yes there is well then let's do it come on okay okay let's jingle it up johnny come on tim join in all right i'm joining him johnny join the expedition we should have jimmy play it this time
53:55no jimmy oh jimmy's gonna play give me a second i'm gonna i'm gonna turn on this okay jimmy's gonna play some some some rockin tunes okay it's gonna be great ready yeah all right poop i gotta make this louder okay that's amazing that was actually really good i liked it jimmy jimmy is it tickled my fancy jimmy knows the ways of the synth synth master jimmy come slithering synthy you know you know we could have had like a last episode do you think we could do a last episode
54:37on like discord live we should try something special something and have people ask questions yeah question us yes street live stream who are you what are you doing well why are you here people just two people listen yeah would you like this would you guys be interested in something like that some kind of live event where you can participate we'll have like for like our last episode with the credits you have to buy yourself and you know it's free don't listen to tim it's free 100 free you can come no no you can come and but you have to buy your snacks your own snacks oh yeah yeah of course yeah if you want to buy snacks i mean we're not making sure snacks like you're not making you buy snacks and you know like uh stimulate the economy yeah exactly the global economy
55:20jinx oh yeah guys if you want to do if you want that jimmy jimmy you had your fun jimmy jimmy's his turn he pressed the butt wrong button he was seriously we could do some kind of live event you know tune in i'm not tune in tell us tell us if you want the live event okay phil read us read us i can read you like a book um so uh when we last left uh Neo's um you know um his ascension to be the one was quite humorous last time guys i'm so sorry i have a confession to make okay ready since we're here since we're there you forgot everything no no no well yes it's sort of part of it but listen
56:04are you gonna say this is boring no can i finish okay go let me go my confession my confession is that i think that i have some kind of problem with um processing information that's read to me and it's very difficult and in general not just in the matrix so you can't listen to like audiobooks well it's it i have listened to audiobooks before it's like jake what have you been doing the last five hours i don't know something happened there was this gap of five hours someone read to me no so honestly it's sometimes difficult for me to follow unless i pay 100 attention to what you're reading and if i do if i have a thought or something or if something comes in my mind
56:47i'm part of life i basically i basically hear like the charlie brown Zion people that's interesting and i get lost and i come try to come back and you're saying Morpheus is in Zion reaching for the gun and i'm like for the gun what are we doing in Zion and i have a lot of trouble actually visualizing stuff when it's read to me this is so weird because i have the opposite like reading i have to read it four times to get it when i read when i read i have an easier time but listen to this it's also funny that for some reason over time the more i read and the more descriptions there are just go i'm just a skip skip talking but you get it right not not all the time but the descriptions
57:29descriptions are hard for me to process because i'm not for some reason i don't naturally visualize stuff so like if you describe to me like you know they walk into the room sealed with blue with blue walls yeah exactly conversation oh they're talking now i know i did the same thing but everyone reads like that we're just waiting for the quotation marks to show up yeah yeah yeah you're waiting for the quotation okay so you guys also have something like that yeah but it's called quick reading you're just like reading the matrix that's so weird that honestly a lot of times i don't know what's going on in the 96 script so for instance like we're talking about the Zion stuff remember them going to the oracles yeah i didn't get that at all like what was that a golden building okay so basically well i imagine it like a new age shrine like in egypt that's what i
58:13imagine that's what i imagine too like maybe grecian maybe something like that but the whole point is that it's in a basement somewhere where no one would know where it is basements because i was imagining like you know they go down they go down the stairs in a new york building or chicago building old basement for apartments where people put poop poop poop put storage where people put in their storage you know what i mean and there's a little there's a little um like a button thing where you write down put down the code and Morpheus puts down the code button thing and then the door yes a number pad with the poops a button thing where you get poop poop well because i'm trying to speed this up so it's not why because i'm thinking
58:54of the time going higher and higher on this episode these are the final episodes okay you're right you're right oh god uh you know what you know what i have in my head i have a like a level from serious sam that's what i love it exactly just like one of those stupid egypt like glassy places that's what i imagine seriously though like i i do have trouble like visualizing and then also sequentially when you're when you read the matrix script i just get bits and pieces and it's hard for me to tie it all together that's so funny because i have to sit me down and explain things really slowly i have the complete opposite thing i can when i listen to audiobooks instantly i understand i can see i can hear everything but when i have read i'm doing you know i'm reading a script for a
59:39project that i'm asked to do and i'm reading like once and that's not enough i have to go right into it so like i have to write maybe three or four times over but for me it's just particularly hard to actually read through the script if someone read it to me perfect so i'm more like what's the producer name yeah yeah john john the guy who made up spiders and stuff yeah the giant spiders and the polar bears poop uh skull ship batman producer batman minute guys will know yes guys yeah batman minute joe schumacher no yeah um what were you saying you were saying how yeah i think someone would have to
1:00:24explain it to me as if they were talking to me and not reading interesting description like i'd be like so they went into the building oh what was the building like it was actually blue oh okay anyway so that's my confession wow i never knew that yeah so let's try i'll try to focus when you read now and i'll see if i can give you my comprehension okay well when we last left Neo i wanted to reiterate this because by the way i wanted to tell you that this the description of the oracle's place is basically john peters yes john peters that's him um famous he's basically down in the basement dilapidated chicago apartment basement probably existed since the 1950s okay and it's you know
1:01:08think of the regular matrix dusty grimy green you know like abandoned places and there's a door to get into the storage facility where people store their question their junk are we already in the apartment or outside of the apartment under the apartment in the apartment wait wait are we reading description for now no i'm just trying to see how jacob reacts to oh this is this is this is the 1996 oracle okay we're in the apartment yes and it's empty where the bottom floor the basement there's a basement i'm just imagining an empty room for some reason there's a basement in the apartment there's all kinds of little things in it there's like is it a used apartment okay remember the remember the
1:01:54the electronics shop that they got into when they got out of the matrix something like that okay but it's in the basement and there's one door that leads into uh the the big room where all the storage is kept okay for you know people who are live in the apartment okay but instead of that right next to that door is a little computer with a button thing number pad number pad and Morpheus punches in the numbers okay 124 and it goes a code accepted and then he opens the door and Neo goes through it and in there is a like uh a grecian or greek or in tim's or greek or in tim's um mind's eye it's a egyptian
1:02:37okay hall with like you know uh statues and you know it's it's completely different is it now like a portal to a different universe yes like because this is going into the Zion mainframe okay that's what it's supposed to be i see and it's big and there's torches maybe and there's like this and in the middle is this uh bunch of stairs and that leads up to a throne and up there in the throne with with uh grecian greek pillars you know is supposed to be the oracle but there is no oracle on the throne and he's like whoa wow that's amazing and then there's a little room just next to that big huge you know uh ancient looking temple and through that doorway uh the oracle goes come i'm in here honey come in
1:03:25and so Neo goes through this after this big giant uh chamber into that little uh door and in that door is a regular kitchen like the movies oracle kitchen okay i zoned out for a half a minute i'm so sorry i'm so sorry i was thinking about something but i got to the part where they came to the or no oracle and then i stopped there what happened after that the door on the right side there's a little door okay tiny regular door on the pyramid not on the pyramid we're inside the chamber we're inside the big chamber we're inside this big amphitheatrical chamber okay okay amphitheater i can relate to that i know that okay with pillars just grecian like okay think of 300
1:04:08remember i'm thinking serious sam i'm thinking serious sam and so where is this door on the right side where uh okay what do you mean where anywhere on the wall on the stairs yes not on the stairs like there's the stairs there's a hall hard this is for me wow yeah so so somewhere yeah somewhere like on a wall yes that way like imagine like the most unceremonious door okay it's just a hole yeah let's say it's a green light coming through it you can hear the light coming through it farting from there and they open it smells good no no Neo is standing he's open yeah Neo is standing in front of this big chamber okay and he hears the little voice of the oracle going i see honey
1:04:52i'm here like i imagined and then Neo walks over there to the little door and he takes him and it maybe takes him a you know a minute because the hall is so big yeah big so it takes him and he goes in and it's like the oracle kitchen in the movie did you read a lot of um like like story books when you were a kid jacob yes i used to read a lot more fiction when i was younger huh i'm just wondering like why like like i don't know like yeah yeah yeah like just having a hard time like imagining it right i think yeah i just i don't know what it is but like i used to read more fiction when i was younger and i i didn't i always had trouble visualizing things very specifically but things would sort of catch my
1:05:34like oh yeah i was sort of i would sometimes there would be a description right and it would say like you know a room and i would sort of like not get the rest of the description of the room so that i would just create my own room ah you know well i mean yeah sort of fill in the blanks i mean that's what everyone does like you kind of fill in the blanks but i love it like listening to like audio books i was just like like you know on the train or a bus i would close my eyes and just like imagine it like but you guys never get lost like you never get you never zone out no no no i guess i guess that might be something really yeah i'm in the zone i start thinking about something i'm chasing the thought of something else and this guy keeps talking i'm like whoa whoa whoa come back i get that but i don't i don't
1:06:15have it often yeah like i mean if i'm super busy if i'm working on something then i try to listen to a podcast or something like that then or an audiobook i might get lost but if i'm just nothing that's just yeah i think you know what it is i'm all there you know what it comes down to i think personally is it how much interest to me that's the thing like if i'm very interested i'm all ears man i can't zone out if i'm interested like i'm okay so the matrix isn't interesting to you i got it yeah no after after 125 episodes we realized that jacob is bored out of his mind with the matrix or any film script it's so hard to get into like movie scripts because this is the simplest way they made it it was it's designed to be read very quickly i know but the thing is that i have a hard time getting into the psyche of all these characters
1:07:00because it's not like my number one interest isn't to know all these characters like that's not my number one interest so then when i'm reading the script i'm like oh i have to know about even all the characters and these different things stuff like that they're making me read it it ah that's why when you watch a movie it's told to you yeah i mean it wouldn't be much of uh an event for everybody to just get a script or start reading together if you start telling me like the profile like okay so Neo is this guy like oh okay then it's it's weird man it's weird but if you told me Neo is wrestling with i with his ideas i'm like oh okay okay okay what are we talking about here okay all the listeners that we just lost in the last half an hour or if you do share or if you told me if you were explaining to me like these characters get into
1:07:43this conflict and they had they talk about this or something and this is a big problem this character is facing then i'm gonna be like oh that's so interesting you see what i'm saying okay i see oh yes okay so so listeners if you share the same feeling with jacob let us know yeah i would like to know yeah what is this man on about okay so last we left Neo in the hall in the 1996 draft okay who have i'm lost again okay it's the hall here 1996 draft okay he gets up from being shot at who Neo who do you think okay sorry um keep going and the agents in this version instead of waiting there they actually
1:08:28take the elevator so Agent Smith is in the elevator with the other two agents going down what down yeah they're going away they're going away they're done shooting they killed Neo they're going away they're in the elevator before the elevator starts going down smith turns around and he sees Neo he's all he's alive he struggles holding his chest sitting up and Neo struggles yes yes and because because he you know he he was shot but then he see now my question is how does this play into the whole enlightenment thing well that's why we're listening to that's why i'm reading the 1996 draft because it's different okay well i'm wondering how come the
1:09:10watch house kids didn't catch that i don't know but Agent Smith is staring at him as if he were looking at a cipher oh what is this and then Neo gives him the finger yeah that's right the finger and then Agent Smith goes no and Agent Smith pounds on the elevator door and the elevator door goes down okay so he so he misses his chance to go shoot him again yes this is uh goofy um this is very goofy you know saturday morning stuff i'll get you next time shakes fists furiously so anyway Neo dies for the ringing phone
1:09:52new dives dives for the ringing phone interior hovercraft that's it the Nebuchadnezzar hovercraft yeah that's it that's all that happens oh wait wait wait turn of events amazing turn of events yeah this is still your friday episode and you were gone so say something hello everyone you are amazing people good night okay cool we can put him on the as a guest on this one as well yes let's do it it's gonna be great now interior hover cleft hovercraft a sentinel blows a hole in Morpheus's right arm jacob pay attention oh yeah yeah a sentinel blows a hole in Morpheus's right
1:10:33arm and he screams refusing to let go of the detonator so he's holding the detonator and the sentinel the sentinel is is like you know yeah i don't know just kind of smacking his arm and he's going ah stop that tickles yeah um and and then in room 303 Neo dives 303 Neo dives dives for the ringing phone he's about to grab the phone interior hovercraft again we cut back okay machines throw me off those shots machines split open the craft and they start pouring in okay lasers targeting everywhere so
1:11:16they're jumping in and just shooting their laser okay okay lily nilly i got that a beat finds the center of Morpheus's forehead a beat yes that's what it says like beat as in the script yeah i think i think i think a beat of the laser oh like a like a beam but with the t there you go maybe maybe it's the laser pointer you know maybe the sentinels had laser pointer yes i was thinking too maybe laser pointers yeah yeah lasers targeting everywhere yeah yeah so one of it finds the center of Morpheus's forehead and he screams ready to die so there you go and then you have the laser pointer in the and Trinity goes no and he turns the key so
1:11:59Morpheus turns the key right yes blinding shock of white lights flood the chamber sentinels blink and fall instantly dead filling the pit with their cold metal carcasses i did good i paid attention yeah that wasn't that wasn't too bad i see it focusing and it worked there you go he survives and gets away there's no jumping in the pool of smith yeah that's good the 1998 script is a little bit more poetic and it's also interesting because it's a little bit different where am i here oh i'm far away oh no this isn't edited yes yes not edited what do you mean
1:12:42yes all this stays in oh yeah that's right yeah okay so yeah we can now hear phil finding 98 so this is interesting so Trinity says her speech in the 1998 version i love you and they kiss and then Neo's eyes snap open and then in the main deck this is where Trinity oh crap this is Trinity's shot so we're in the main deck yeah Trinity is there and Trinity screams as the monitors jump back to life Neo's life monitors jump back to life and tank and Morpheus look at each other it's a miracle and kiss it's a miracle they both say it or what no no nothing that that's just description they give
1:13:27each other and Trinity says now get up and then in the hall in the matrix again oh crap okay this cuts okay in the hall in the matrix holding his chest Neo struggles to get up okay at the end of the hall the agents wait for the elevator when Agent Smith glances back it's just like the movie almost he rips off his sunglasses looking as looking at Neo as if he were looking at a ghost instead of as a Cypher it's ripping shirt off Neo gets to his feet all three agents grabbing for their guns as one they fire and Neo just goes no and we have uh the bullets right uh Neo plucks one of the bullets from the air we see him and the hall reflected in bright casing we move closer until the
1:14:09bullet fills our vision and the distorted reflection morphs becoming the real image that's what i'm described yeah okay yeah yeah the transition and Neo looks at the stream of code and all three it's trans stand transfixed they give they begin to blur into streaks ribbons light that open like windows and you know nice little description of the matrix code and now tank goes how and Morpheus goes he is the one he is the one he says it twice an explosion shakes the entire show it explodes Neo like and then here's the here's the great here's the description of how
1:14:50Agent Smith confronts new at the end so okay Agent Smith screams his calm machine like expression shredding with pure rage he rushes at Neo his attack is ferocious but Neo blocks each blow easily i'm so sorry one more time he rushes Neo his attack is ferocious but Neo blocks each blow easily okay yeah it's classic like the film then with one quick strike to the chest he sends Agent Smith flying backwards for the first time since their inception the agents know fear they know fear yes they can know fear it works well with the uh you know uh space odyssey 2001 the other monkeys now no fear
1:15:31ah Agent Smith gets up bracing himself as Neo charges him and springs into a dive but the impact doesn't come Neo sinks into Agent Smith disappearing oh his tie and coke rippling as if it were a deep pool of water oh it makes sense i could you know sorry apologies for the there we go the that's it yeah so it's in the script that's our minute today it was it is good a minute it is a wild it is a good minute it wasn't a wild minute but it was quite an interesting minute it was pretty wild confessions you know things no editing no just who who would have thought it'd be so much easier yeah yeah this is hope you enjoyed it
1:16:13it this little sneak peek this was we didn't have uh darth vader giving the intro you know no seven months in the making oh yeah to the great behind the scenes james jones the matrix minute yeah james and old jones i always keep saying darth vader because i wasn't sure i was thinking i was imagining darth vader now you imagine that you dare for yeah so let us know how do you imagine things do you have trouble concentrating when people read to you you write in on the facebook and on the twits the twits on the ask at the matrix dot
