I think they should have put more unreal things like that in the movies.

2:44Yeah. I mean, it rubs off of, you know, just, just, you know, Neo gets a bit, you know, like super better, but, um, so they should get a bit better as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Boost their confidence. Like, like, like Morpheus should have had a blade that actually cuts through everything. Why not? So Neo made it for him. Yeah. He forged it with his mind. He bent time and space reality in front of the boy. Yeah. Oh, you know, you've got like, you know, the opening sequence of the matrix you load is like you zoom in. It's like you're panning, coming into this door. Right. And you open the door and Neo's, you know, sitting down in a meditative position. Right. And it's like, opens his eyes. And you see in his eyes, the reflection of the sword he just created. And then Morpheus later,

3:25he's like, Morpheus. And Morpheus is like, thank you. I will use this well. It'll keep you safe. Stuff like that. Yeah. What would Trinity's powers be? Knives. Infinite knives. I don't know. Oh, yeah. Infinite knives. It's just like knives out of her, like, her wizard sleeves. Stuff like that. Like, I don't know what else. Why would they have those powers? Because you can hack the matrix. That's the whole point. Yes. Come on. It's being unrealistic because you can. Oh, I get it. Link, our newest hacker. He's phenomenal. Yeah. He programmed this little, like, like, if they can get clothes inside the matrix, you know, with their bodies, why can't you get, like, super hacky, you know, items, you know? That's right. I always wanted to, I hope they explored that further,

4:06but they kind of didn't. However, that was an exception. I forgot what it was. So anyway, minute 73. Yes. Here we go. In minute 73, you know what happens? The vase breaks. And then she's like, oh, I, I did that. And, and, and then, and Neil's like, I'm so sorry. But she's like, oh, Spoon Boy will fix it. Yeah. And then, and then, um, Neil goes, how did you know? And then she's going to go, what's really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything? And then she does magic. She, she puts a stick on fire by itself. And inhales vapors. She's a wizard. And inhales crazy vapors.

4:46You remember? She has a stick. The oracles in Delphi, they would have, these virgins. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, you're, you're, you're taking this from the 300 film, by the way. But that's based on, based, based on truth. They would, uh, they would get these little girls drunk. Based on truth. It's based on, it's based on as much truth as the matrix is. That's true. But no, but like, as in, as in, okay. So in, in the 300, they're like in this strange underwater environment, but that's not true. But what they had, like they had these like, uh, young, uh, girls and they would just give them opium and all sorts of drugs. And then they would babble and then they wouldn't interpret, interpret that. I need to do more research. Cause I was reading this in this book and it explained all that stuff.

5:27And it's some good stuff. We're still going on this. Um, you guys are butchering, look, look at this. I'm going to show you through the screen. We're all wearing hoods. This is the new religion. They're monastic. And this is how we greet us with the oracle. So, this is a complicated topic. Cause this comes back to this thing we're talking about in one of these episodes. But it has no answers. It has no answers. The problem is again, the whole free will thing. And I think that's what she's talking about. Cause she's saying like, is it destined to happen? Is it not? That kind of stuff. There's my wizardry. Yeah. And is destiny something that will happen by itself or is it influenced by yourself?

9:35And that's a spiritual matter, a matter of opinions, I would say. The destiny, it could be a spiritual one, but the more like philosophical one is like determinism, which means like things follow their natural course, you know? Oh yeah. And if they follow their natural course, then some people think that we can't actually affect that because we're all determined. Right, right. We talked about some of those different, you know, options that exist out there. Yeah. But I think the, the, the problem there is that us as creatures, uh, creatures, creatures aware of ourselves, creatures of habit. Yeah. Who did creatures see time only at its own pace?

10:17We cannot, we cannot move through time as we can move through space. So destiny and things like future and the past and what is going to happen is very interesting to humans because we, there's at this moment, moment, we cannot control that. Sure. You can get drunk out, you know, blackout drunk and, uh, wake up next day, but that's not really controlling. It's just a waste of things. Harming your own body. Spending time. And we don't have, we don't have technology. They can, uh, take us close to, uh, black holes where gravity is so strong that time moves at a different, uh, pace than the rest. I mean, would you guys, totally. It's since you mentioned black holes, would you guys, if they built, you know, the rocket, they can go as fast as the speed of light.

10:59Would you guys step in and go to the future a thousand years from now? Cause you can't come back. Like, uh, Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes. Exactly. Well, we have, we have to go to specific, you, you can't really, uh, you know, time travel that much with, with the speed of light. You would have to jump through, uh, to, to have that kind of, yeah, you, with time, there is, uh, you know, uh, sort of, uh, time is quite, uh, different within the vessel as I'm saying, yeah, traveling at a speed of light, but you have to go strong with that to have like big difference. I don't know, maybe a couple, couple of years, but sure I would do that. But, you know, I think you'd be traveling for a while. You'd be traveling for a while.

11:39But. Okay, just like, like extended ones and then like, yes, with the math, like you would make up, I don't know, 10 years into the future in 10 minutes or something like that. I don't know what the math is. Maybe people, you can tell us what the, what the math is. Physicist once, and he was explaining how this. Tim. It's real. It's a real name. And he was explaining how, and I think this could be totally wrong, but the basic principle is that theoretically you can time travel into the future. If we had a spacecraft that could have, so much energy to consistently go. Faster than light. At the speed of light. No, I think at the speed of light. Because we don't know what happens beyond the speed of light. Because that's, that's kind of a law. It's kind of a law. Can't go faster. Oh, mmm. He's going to bake your noodle now.

12:20So, the question is, would you guys want to go into the ship? You'd end up back on earth a thousand years into the future. Within how, how much time do I lose? For fun. A year, two years. Of course not. And I can't go back, right? You've gone through, remember the time in your capsule. Did they ever make a movie of that? You wouldn't age. Other than Planet of the Apes. You would only age two years? Wait, no, not like that. Oh, you can go back to the machine. realistic time, like that. I think they should. Yeah, because basically, the physics is you can't, of course, go back. Because he was talking about how time travel. Yeah, we can. Back in time is, from what we know, is impossible. So you're stuck. You can just flow your time.

13:01That's what you can do. While the relative time of the other people is, you know, So now you're in 2117. You come to earth. And it's a futuristic wonderland. Ah, that'd be great. I'd be happy. You know, okay, so there's, as you can tell, there's a difference between me and Jake. And I think if you put us on a Dungeons and Dragons, you know, what's that called? The chart? Or whatever. The alignment chart. I think Jake would be waffle good. And I would be chaotic evil. And I think you can clearly see the choices that we make. Because, because I would totally go into that just to see what happens. Honestly, I would. Now that's craziness. Yeah, I know. I know. I know Jake wouldn't. If you listen to the podcast. That's the wrong podcast.

13:42Yeah, my friend. I can't believe you said that for real by accident. I can't believe it. I would just feel, I would just feel bad. Because if you cut off your whole. Whatever. Whatever. Yes, that's exactly what I was going to say. Okay. Your appendix. Go on. What if it sucks? What if it's dystopia? That's the risk you have to take. You know, like, you got to take the chance. You're like, well, that's it. the whole point is that you, this is a big decision. Are you volunteering or are you not?

14:23No. Well, then you're not going. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Simple as that. Okay, so, so a realistic one. This is completely not related, but the future. That's right. You could do that. Let's see, what's the more realistic one? We're going to the Mars, right? And it's the first 25 people to colonize Mars. And it's like, and they give you the opportunity. 15:04as a, as a, you have to leave everything behind because, you know, it takes a while to get there and you can't afford you to bring back. So maybe when you're 80 or something like that, you could maybe return when we have better, you know, transportation, but for the next 30 years, it's just going to be you going to Mars and you're going to be one of the first 25 colonists of the Mars colony. Well, there's an answer to this. Are you going to accept that? If I was like super depressed beyond any reason to live here, yes, then I would go, of course. Why would they need you then? It's like, oh, I'm going to Mars. You see, like Charlton Heston, that's exactly what Taylor did. Exactly. See, like Taylor, he was motivated when he went to the spaceship because now he has a purpose to do something good. Well, maybe not good,

15:45but he just did something because he hated being on earth. Exactly. He just hated everybody. So that would be my yes, but my no, if I was happy and content, no, no, no. All right. You know, I couldn't see you going to Mars. Would you really go to Mars? Why? You would really go. Like, let's say, yeah, I'm like, boom, you've been selected. Okay. I wouldn't go if I had to work too much. You'd select if you go to Mars. And you click it and you realize that it's actually real. So you don't want to work much on Mars. But you, no, I'll be like, I'll be the, okay, but when you're on Mars, cheers everyone up. Oh no,

Okay. Just, just to tie it back all again, where we started off with the whole destiny. And it's always been in the minds because we can't travel through time. And, you know, is your future determined or not? Is it, is it written in stone? Or the choice? I have to just clarify really quick. Okay. If I had this right, and I could be wrong because I don't know many things. You're thinking of destiny in the sense of like the future is predicted. Like the crappy bungee game. Yeah. Like, I think you're thinking of like some kind of like, maybe you're thinking of destiny. Like things are going to happen a specific way,

17:50which could, the choices you are, think you're making are already made. And you're just following your path. That's what I'm talking about. I'm thinking like that, that concept like determinism means like, yeah, in a sense that you are doing what you, what are predictable actions based on who you are, based on how the universe is set up, basically. So, so, so the time works, doesn't work like a linear moving through, like time is set. Yeah. We're just moving through it. And in the illusion of making the choices, you know, but in actually if you had a bird's eye view of time or,

18:30you know, like a, like a God view or something like that, you would see it as it is. But, you know, to us as three dimensional, you know, going through time, we see it as, Oh, it's happening. And the choices we make, you know, that's what, you know, I guess what they're talking about here is probably what Neil is thinking about, or that, you know, time is not written and whatever you, you know, choices you make. Yeah. It's really hard to wrap your head around. All those kinds. Anyway, away from the noodles. To me, it, it, the noodles. No, I just, I just wanted to say that to me, it's the exact same thing, you know, because if, if time is determined and you do make the choice and you live in illusion that you're making the choices and it seems like the choices affect the world.

19:13That's the same. That's the best deal, you know, it's the same effect. You're just going to depress yourself. If you're going to think, Oh no, nothing. I'm, you know, the, the fact that you don't make a choice and don't do nothing is exactly the same, you know, so it's like, views of it. Yeah. So anyway, um, so what is the, what is the Oracle saying? Oracle says, you're cuter than I thought. Yes. What about the other five? They were, they were ugly as hell. Well, one of them. I'm just like, what happened? Okay. If this was, if this was part of the movie, what would she says the same thing to everyone? She's wrong. That just like completely eliminate any validity of this old hag that she has.

19:54Playing psychologist. She's like, um, psychologically manipulating Neo in a very subtle way to choose the path. If he is in fact the real one, because what she's saying to him will affect how he behaves later on. Are we taking consideration too much? The sequels. No, this is, I'm talking about this movie. Okay. No, but even now, because, okay, even, okay. So we're a little bit cheating. That was in the draft as well. So that's giving me a little bit of the movie. We can't, it was, that is true, but I don't think they would change the conversation. We'll see in 1996, if it's changed or not the conversation, but I'm pretty sure she'll say the same damn thing. Yes. Right. So, so, so,

20:34so it's the same thing. It doesn't matter. We can have two alternate reality. That's how I think we have one alternate reality, which is the movie by itself. Okay. Jacob, but we're still talking about the same thing. Yeah. Because if she changed her dialogue in 1996, when there's five Nios before, I would understand that's a completely different place, but they probably had in mind still that sort of world when they wrote, because the dialogue is the same. So Morpheus doesn't tell Neil. You know, yeah. Trinity doesn't tell Neil because she fell in love with five guys and they died. You know, it's embarrassing. She fell in love with that restaurant. It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing. Hard. It's just so good. That's the conspiracy. Five guys is actually just all the previous ones.

21:15Yeah. So, which brings me to the conspirator number two, Morpheus's best friend, the Oracle. Yeah. She doesn't see the future. She's not Oracle. She doesn't know anything. She's just super smart AI. And she knows that with specific manipulation of people, she can get them to do what they want. All she has to do is tell the right thing. Push the buttons. And that's how I think. There's no one. There's no one. There's just potentials. The potential people who are special. And if you say the right things, they will do what you want them to do. And they think they're the one. I'm going to agree with you, Tim. I like that idea. I also agree with you guys in an alternate universe. Okay. It's great. It's just different, different, different ways. So this one is not.

21:56Lawful good. He wants the one. He wants the hero. There he is. Like I said, but we can look at both. We can. We can. Absolutely. Your, your, your side is valid. But come on, Jacob. 22:37You guys teasing him and just sort of. Yeah. Unless you're like my wife and she would probably figure it out. I know. Trinity brought her food. She likes him. That's what she's talking about. It's like, it's insane. It's impossible. She's so good at that. Just bam, bam. She should write movies instead of watching. I know. I want her to write movies. It's pretty awesome. Like the foolproof plot. I will pay her to write drafts. Yeah. Write the drafts. Okay. And then, and then what happens? Oh, not too bright. And then she goes, you know why you're here. Oh, the Morpheus stuff. Yeah. Morpheus. And he goes, yeah, or something like that. And then she goes, what do you think? And I actually really like this. This is my favorite. This is, I actually like, I think it was a Gloria Foster. Is that her name?

23:18Yeah. The actress. I think she plays this role brilliantly in my opinion. Well, that was her whole mantra. She's trying to incorporate different roles that she knows she can try to be, do as best she can. Because it's great because the Oracle in this scene, again, we can read it different ways. And even, let's say we're reading it in the good lawful way. And we're reading it in the sense that the Oracle, the Oracle is really, is trying to help. And she is, you know, with the resistance and she is, you know, a guide, so to speak. I like that she's very disarming with Neo where she goes immediately, like, you know, what do you think about this stuff? Is this all crap? Is this real? You know, why don't you have a say?

23:59She's already introducing Neo to like, Hey man, like, this is kind of weird. The whole situation. Do you think it's kind of weird? Like you're talking to me on this Oracle and you're supposed to, you know, be the one or something. What's your take on that? You know, I like that because she's being honest with him again in my world. And no, it's okay. It's, it's portrayed that way. I'm saying if you're reading it that way, you can read it like that. I just like how she plays the character because it's not what you expect. You would expect her to immediately go like, let's talk one business. And she's already going into this dramatic overload Oracle who knows everything. And, but it's the opposite of that. And you get this very calm, casual conversation where you as the viewer are completely like in it going,

24:41Oh wow. Like, cool. Except Neo is obviously not very talkative, which obviously doesn't add to the conversation too much. Well, it's just classic Neo. What's he going to do? You know, can't, can't, but then he goes, expect that much. Honestly, I don't know. He doesn't say that verbatim. He says, that's a bit, that sounds a little too authoritarian. Honestly, I don't know, man. Give me that. Give me that. What does she say? Give me that. Jones in for some tobacco. Then she says, um, is it the know thyself thing? No, she's not yet. No, she just says, look behind you. And that's when the minute ends. But I understand what you're saying, Jacob, because we are now,

25:22uh, taking in consideration the script that we know before, and also the sequels where the story is added a lot more depth and everyone has a story, you know, the background, it becomes more sinister. In the, because in this one, it is the classical hero's journey. And these are just side characters that guide him to his destiny. So they're not evil, nor they're, you know, there's, there's ones that are helping him. There's ones that are not helping him. And it's a very sort of dual kind of way of thinking, which, uh, you know, works for the story. But, uh, me personally, I, I like, even though the sequels are terrible, I like that they expanded on that. I like that too. And these characters are more gray and they, they have their own agendas and they,

26:03they have their own ideas. And it's not like just a helpful Oracle that, you know, guides the hero to his, on his journey. It's, it's someone else. I like that too, because, uh, one thing that the sequels do well is that they basically pull the rug under your feet. Is that the phrase? Yeah. I think so. Yeah. Where everything you were led to believe, you're like, oh, this is so cool. Just like Lebowski's rug. And suddenly it's just like, the room is not tied together anymore. And you have to completely shift your perspective and to go, okay, so that's not what it was, you know, and it, and it creates a more interesting dynamic. So I agree. But, um, yeah, I mean, I just think that she plays the Oracle very well. Either way, we slice it.
