0:00Welcome to the Matrix Minute, a podcast where we discuss the first film one minute at a time because we love this movie. I was going to sync up. Why didn't you say movie? I didn't know it was movie because I always said film. That's just the way I always said it. Hello, everybody. Welcome back. It's Monday. Guess what? You want me to tell you when we're recording this? Yesterday, Sunday, November 18th. It's true. The secrets are revealed. Tomorrow is Monday. Isn't it Monday already? No, it's November 19th. Yeah, so it's Monday. You're on the 20th. Well, I don't know. Do we have any Asian listeners? We should... Yes. Maybe. We have a New Zealand listener. That's true. Oceania. Wait, what did you guys learn in school? Do you have any continents?

0:42Seven. Seven. Let's think here. Europe. Europe. Yeah. North America. South America. Africa. Australia. Asia. Antarctica. Did I miss something? No, you're good. You're good there. I think we called it Australia and Oceania. You know, we all do. Yes, yes, yes. I have a story. This is totally not a matrix minute, but I love stories. Listen. Yep. In freshman year of high school in Indiana, we had a preliminary little test, like a short exam to see where we were at with geography in freshman, that is ninth grade geography class.

1:25And I get the map and it says, please, you know, outline the continents. Okay. And I go and I start, Russia. Okay. Yeah. And I start doing the countries. Okay. You're like, I'm up for this challenge. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm thinking like, wait a second. This is a little too much. I don't think all the time. This is not correct. And I go, erase, erase. Europe. And so forth. Well. To save the day. Imagine if I actually went and kept going. Like, imagine if I went for 10 minutes. How far would I get? You'll be still there, right in the countries. I know. I still be. I stop at Africa and not know any of the countries. Oh. Oh, yeah.

2:07What is this? Who is that guy? We got a ghost. Oh, my goodness. Look at my levels. Your levels are very bad, Jacob. We apologize for this level problem. And that's about it. So, Tim, I think your day was pretty good. Jake, you had a good day, I guess. I am here. I saw the murder on the Oriental Express. Not Orient Express. See, I wanted to watch this Oriental Express. Okay. I should watch them in theaters. Yeah, I do. Yeah. I went to, because Emma likes mysteries. I wanted to watch it too. People kept telling me, don't go watch it's bad. Don't go watch it's bad. Well, it's okay. I mean, I enjoyed it.

2:48It's like, it's like, it's like, uh, Agatha Christie, you know, like, and I guess it's got good actors. I think it may be like, I don't know, the buildup is better than the payoff, but, uh, I enjoyed watching it. You know, it's better than watching Justice League in the cinema. Justice League. That was a choice. It was Justice League or this. So, yeah. Well, um. I don't think that's even a choice. Justice League doesn't have a very good percentage on Rotten Tomatoes, but I'll tell you what it does, and that's Thor Ragnarok. It's at 90-something. So, it's Spider-Man. 90-something. Really? Yeah. And so, it's Spider-Man and Wonder Woman. And guess what's a lot lower than both of those? Or, well, all three of those. The Matrix. Are you serious? Really? It's at 87% of Rotten Tomatoes.

3:28That was before the crazy Rotten Tomatoes. Yeah. Yeah. Well, how about, yeah, but does it have, like, Rotten Tomatoes, does it have reviews from back then only, or any recent? Yeah, it's from back then. I don't think from recently. I think these are all collected from the years before Rotten Tomatoes existed, throughout different, um, magazines. Heroes and history. And newspapers and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah. So, I feel like there's way, uh, more information for current movies, and therefore the ratings are just higher because more critics liked it. It looks like Justice League is better rated than the previous ones, like Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman. I don't know. I just, something's wrong with Rotten Tomatoes.

4:09I don't, I don't look at Rotten Tomatoes anymore. It seems really imbalanced. Something is off. I don't know what's happening, but. My opinions don't mesh with most of the critics' opinions most of the time. Especially when it comes to comic book movies. But Tim, wasn't there a long time ago, this magazine you used to read, and you one time told me, you're like, yeah, the reviewer on this magazine, I pretty much have all the same opinions. Do you remember that? Uh, no. Um, I don't know. I have no idea. I don't know. I mean, uh. You used to read this magazine, and I forgot what it was. Yeah. You told me that. I mean, the, here's how I look at Rotten Tomatoes. It's like, it's bad. This is like under 30. It's like, oh, everyone just hated it.

4:50Do you actually check it, though? Depends, like, if it's a director or something, if, if I know someone who's working on the movie, and I like them, I'll go see no matter what the reviews are. Because, you know, I like their work. Then there's movies that it's like, oh, this movie came out, like, let's say on, on home video, and it's like, we have nothing to watch. And I'm like, dude, you know, am I going to watch it? And then I go check and see, like, what's the, you know, if I see, like, 15% there and a green little, you know, snot, I'm like, yeah, no, I'm not going to watch this. If it's, like, higher than 60, I'm like, okay, I might as well. Because it's, like, it's just, just, like, general, like, is it positive or negative reaction? Right, right. That's all it means. There's no, like, a specific review to it. Like, look at this. This is,

5:34MCU, Iron Man is the highest with 94%. And then beneath it is Thor, and then beneath it is Matrix. Thor, Ragnarok. Yeah. What I do is exclusively just rely on people telling me things. Like, I ask people, like, hey, what do you think about that? Like, I was, I was about to go watch Justice League just because a mutual friend of ours, Frank Ireland, was so excited to do it. And he knows it's schlock, and he knows it's cheesy, and that's why he likes it. And it, you know, and it's going with the taste that he has. And I just wanted to do it just because of Frank Ireland. Like, I had no interest otherwise to go and see it. But I was persuaded not to. I never wanted to go see it.

6:14The problem is not schlock with those movies. The problem is incompetence. It's like, I just don't want to go there and be that feeling of those, this is the Matrix we're talking about, whatever, but it doesn't matter. Two more seconds. Warner Brothers, it's fine. It's connected. It's Warner Brothers. It's that dread of, they feel so long. This is the worst part about it. Yes, listen. It feels like an hour movie, like you're seven hours in the cinema. And it's just so like, when will this end? I just, I just want to die, please. Well, for me, it's this, exactly that happens. But what happens at the beginning, you go, you know what, maybe it's justified to go check it out. There might be a chance that it's like, okay, you begin watching the film and you feel okay, you know, your conscience is clean.

6:55I understand. And then by the end, when you want to die, and it's so boring, you go, what have I done? Why am I giving money? Like, uh, like, like, uh, What happened again? What's that movie that this year came out? Wonder Woman. It's like, that was good for the most part. And then in the end, that, that dreadful boringness came in. It's like, it's just that unit. What does that mean? I'm just, I'm just, uh, pitying Tim because he felt like he was getting bored. Interesting. That's usually when I go, aw, Tim, I'm sorry. It's okay. I mean, it's, it's fine, but it was like, I, maybe it's the color or I don't know what happens in those, in these DC movies, just all of a sudden it just becomes so monochrome and just like, you just want to sleep. Like your eyes are like, uh, anyway.

7:37Okay. So coming back to. Yeah. Yeah. Matrix. Subject matter. Okay. Back to. As you can see, we passed the hour of the movie. We are slowly losing our goddamn minds. Absolutely. We are completely. I think we need to get more guests. I think so too. Well, we have, we have Emma maybe for January, so that's good. Yeah. Um, tell us, Philip, what happens in, uh, the minute that we're here to talk about. Minute 66. Wow. Six. Order 66. Oh, Satan's calling. Yep. Just one number off. Oh, we're never going to get to minute 66. No. That's a very long movie. Unless you watch a, um, Ken Burns documentary, you definitely get to 666.

8:22That's not true. Or, unless you start counting, unless we do Matrix Reloaded and Revolution. Philip, don't take those things. And count it in numerical order. Like, we just start with. Why are you doing this? Philip, why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? What did I do? You're giving people a false hope. Oh. Yeah. We made a poll, everyone, and I'm glad the poll results were great. Yeah, there was, there was Paul. Paul. Yeah, Paul really helped us. Can't speak Paul. We put him up on Facebook. Yeah. And people clicked on Paul. Paul. Phew, we almost got, almost, almost, they almost, the people almost spoken, but, uh. Yeah, you guys almost, uh, you know. Paul's, polls are closed. Paul's are closed. But Paul's done. And we have the confirmed result, and that's, we're doing the bonus episodes.

9:05That's right. That's what we're doing. Thank you for participating in the poll. We might have, like, a re, you know, like, a re-Brexit vote, maybe. But. Yeah. Yeah. But we'll see. Okay, so. Even if it did happen, it would probably, like, take a, like, three-year break and then do it. Yeah. Yeah. And then we'll all be in our thirties. Yeah. And then we can do the minute by minute. Yeah. Okay, so. This is Minute 66. Dozer advertises tasty wheat. It's a single-cell protein combined with synthetic aminos, vitamins, and minerals. Everything the body needs. Mouse mockingly mumbles that that isn't true and talks to Neo about meeting the woman in the red dress in the agent training program. He boasts that he designed her and wrote the program.

9:48If Neo wants to meet the woman, Mouse can arrange to more personally. Digital pimp, hard at work. Switch jokingly exclaims, and Mouse says to deny her own impulses is to deny the very thing that makes us human. And Morpheus barges in and tells the crew that they're taking Neo to meet her. Who? The Oracle. That's our Minute today, everybody. Oh, yeah. Ori. We have a lot of stuff to talk about today because today we have Dozer in his close-up, looking fine and fresh, talking about synthetic aminos, proteins, vitamins, everything the body needs. Yes, sir. But it's a single... We talked about that last time, didn't we?

10:29The Goop. Okay, so we're not going to talk about that, but we can talk about the actor Anthony Ray Parker, who plays Dozer in this film. He's from Michigan, and he was in movies like The Marine with Patrick. Swazay. Two in thousands. Oh. And he was in The Frighteners, which I should see. I'll keep an eye on him. What, the Peter Jackson movie? Yeah. You haven't seen that? No. Ghosts. And he was also in Hercules, the TV show, and Spartacus, War of the Damned. So there you go. There's a few highlights in his career, and he's a Michigan guy. That's cool, man. We watched his actor demo reel today.

11:11Yes. And it had The Matrix in it, obviously. Clearly. You don't want to pass that one up. No, no, no. That's a big one. And we're talking about, and here we go. Mouse is just, you know, trying to huddle up to Neo there. Just huddle up. A little scooty-scoot. Yeah. Yeah. Well, so the question of the day really is, is Dozer's combination, his concoction, does it really have everything your body needs? Okay. I'm going to get Emma here. Because this is this. I have no idea what it is. Okay. So do you, Phil, send me the list. Okay. I'm not Phil, but okay. Oh, you're both there. That is true.

11:52I'm going to get Emma. You guys vamp. Here it is. Whatever. I send you. I send you. You guys vape. I will vape. We're going to, this is great. I can't wait to test Dozer's claims against a specialized nutritionist. That's right. We have one today, and this is a special episode of The Matrix Minute. I'm pumped. I can't wait. Get ready, guys. I can't wait, man. It's going to be awesome. In a few moments, we'll have the answers. The answers are coming. So, Philip, you don't like drinking beer right on The Matrix Show. I just forgot. I just like tea. It's calming. It's soothing. And I'm almost done with my mouth. What kind of tea are you drinking?

12:32Chamomile. Oh, wow. How do you like that? Do you add any extras? Okay. Emma's here. Ooh, Emma. Emma, welcome back to The Matrix Minute. Emma, woo! Emma, can you hear us? Can you hear them? Hi. Hi. Come closer. Hi! Welcome, Emma. Emma's back here for a more prominent role as a special guest. Okay. So, Dozier says, it's a single cell protein combined with synthetic aminos, vitamins, and minerals. Minerals? Minerals. Everything, the body. Minerals. Oh, wait. By the way, this is Emma, my wife. And she is a studied nutritionist. You have a, what is that?

13:13Master's degree in human nutrition. So, tell me, is this everything the body needs? He didn't mention fiber, I guess. Oh, you need your fibers. You need to digest that stuff. Speak to the mic, not me. Sorry. The mic. The mic. It's there. Where? Sorry. Okay. So, I don't remember all the things you mentioned. Tim can show you the list. I guess you mentioned most of the essential nutrients. Here. You don't have your glasses. Oh, okay. Okay. So, we have protein.

13:54Aminos, which we don't even know what they are. Aminos, yeah. Vitamins and minerals. Yeah. What would you think? What do you think? Is that something balanced or no? We're missing carbohydrates, fats, and fiber. So, are you saying Dozer cannot get that body with just the goop? Dozer's the big muscly guy. Well, having just protein without anything else is actually harmful for you. Dozer. But Dozer also has synthetic aminos, vitamins, and minerals. That's the stuff. That's the stuff. So, here's my question, Emma.

14:35My only question is like, if we as humans ate this stuff, just these categories forever, would we be fine or would we have troubles? We would definitely have troubles, in my opinion, because you need all food groups to function properly. Because, you know, malnutrition is not only related to hunger and stuff. It can be caused by, you know, like... Missing certain... Yeah, by missing certain elements. Yeah, missing certain food groups, basically. So, what are you... Are you saying, Emma, that Morpheus is trying to kill them purposely?

15:15Not again, not again. Yeah, they're slowly dying and they don't know about it. Thank you. I love you for confirming my theory. It's perfect. I have a master's degree. Emma. Emma. Emma, thank you so much for coming on. Thank you, Emma. Thank you for your expertise and your professional opinion. Catch you later, Emma. She said goodbye and close the door. Okay, bye. I love this podcast. This is turning into my kind of podcast. I know. I agree. This is also my kind of podcast. Professionalism is going down, down, down. We predicted this, so it's okay. It's fine. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. I think people like it. People like it. As long as it's on time. It's on time, released every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

15:56I mean, look, guys, I have to say, we have to pat ourselves on the back, at least for one thing. We have not missed a single scheduled release. Yep. Since June. Yeah. Yeah. That's good. Okay, let's go back to the minute here. Anyway, so basically, this dozer's claim is insufficient. You're going to have to have some more stuff. Dozer needs to back it up with some more food groups. So it's not everything the body needs. So you need fat. So maybe it's part of the synthetics. Synthetic aminos. They're just synthetic aminos, vitamins, and minerals. It's just saying they're synthetic. They're not from natural. Yeah. What you need is fat for energy. You know, you need your calories. That's right. That's right.

16:36And you need fiber for all of this to be in some kind of form. Yeah, digestible. Otherwise, it'll just go straight to the bum. So here's the thing. So dozer, when he's saying everything the body needs, basically what he's saying is, eat that stuff now. Yeah. Right. He's not even like, he's just making him like. Yes. He's reciting what Morpheus told him. Sure. That's your theory. Or, or dozer doesn't know. Maybe that insufficient, listen, it's the future. I mean, clearly they might have maybe whole crops of information. The nutrition information is gone. Maybe they're like, I don't know. But there's no more pyramid. It's just, it's the, it's the hexagon of.

17:17I mean, they're proof. They're not skinny. They're not dying. They're not sick. I don't know. Mouse looks a bit, mouse looks a bit malnourished. He does. We don't know these things. Maybe they're, maybe they're supplementing with the intravenous. Okay. Okay. The fibers and everything go in there. So, so mouse says, he doesn't have anything to buy knees. Right. And then he looks at you and you know, those types of things that do that thing with the eyes. Go on, go on. You know, they huddle over to you and then start talking to you with, by looking from the tops of their eyes. His eyes are going a little bit cross-eyed there for a second. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, he's like, you ran through the agent training program. You know, I built that program.

17:59Look at that. Look at that. Look at that finger. Nail biting finger. Yep. Yep. And look at his red ears. Like pointing at him. That's something. I think, I think. I think that's makeup. There was a lot of great detail being in, you know, used to great effect here because this is all just character stuff that, you know, Matt was able to do with the makeup artist and directors and get a character going. And I always loved that stuff. The red nose and the red ears. That's makeup, right? Yeah. Rudolph. And so anyway, Apoc is like, here it comes, you know, they know what's going to happen. They know what's going to happen. And Switch is like looking like she's anticipating the pitch here.

18:40And he's like, so you met her, right? You know, the woman in the red dress. I designed her. She doesn't talk much, but if you'd like to meet her, I could arrange a more personalized milieu. He says milieu, I think. And that's like a setting, right? Okay. And then Switch, you know, drops the bomb. She's like digital pimp, hard at work. And he's like, and then, and then here comes the other, the knockback. Don't, don't, don't go yet. Shush, shush, you know. Yeah. Shush, shush, shush. What is this? The retelling of the third time? Yeah. Come on. Listen, when she goes digital pimp, hard at work. Another one of the kid mishearings.

19:21Okay. Was digital. Oh, wait, let me think here. Like digital pimparted. If that's, that's not, that's not a word, but I thought like that was something like. Oh, okay. Pimparted. Huh. I don't remember this one from the kid. I, I, yeah. Yeah. I didn't, I don't remember if before I knew. Yeah. I, I didn't. This is also before. Oh, no, no. Oh, sorry. Sorry. I forgot. Yeah. Pimp hearted. That's what I thought it was. Oh, it's like. Instead of digital pimp hearted work, it's pimp hearted. Digital pimp hearted. Like he's hearted. He's pimp hearted. Yeah. I mean. He's pimp hearted. Um, and then mouse says the, the kicker here, they know attention to these hypocrites,

20:03Neo. Yeah. There's a story in here onto itself, my friends. Oh, well, he's saying Pinoch into these hypocrites. That means that they might've had some encounters in the construct. Oh yeah. Yeah. That they went for the, for the hanky panky into the construct. Oh, I didn't think about that. With some imaginary people. Or maybe they just have sex between each other and he doesn't. And he's like, no, like, I'll be just because it's not. He knows about switch. He knows about switch. I know. Yeah. I thought it was reverse though. What? Oh, this is like, he's saying they're hypocrites. That means they obviously. They do also. They indulge themselves. But in, in mouse's digital wonderland. Why don't they just say that?

20:45They should be like, Neo, it's great. We live in a paradise. Join us. Join us. The palace of your mind. You know what's in the palace of your mind, Neo. Don't forget the pickle, Neo. The pickle of justice. So. And then he goes to deny your own impulses. It's to deny everything that makes us human. And I'm sure someone has that tattooed on their arm. Probably. Probably. Mouse. Or. Yeah. Well, I meant in the real world. Oh, okay. Okay. In the movie. Any thoughts? I don't know. It's like. She designed the woman in the red dress. And I have some crazy stuff. She's the youngest and the horniest of them all. I have some crazy stuff for some early drafts.

21:26We're going to talk about it in the script section. It's going to be quite different. I don't know what to say really about this. I mean. I guess it's supposed to be. I don't feel like getting into it. But that's the whole, you know, question of like. Are our actions. Do they have any meaning in an artificial world? Do they have any moral consequences? That's that whole discussion. Do you feel like killing people in the concert? Like you're like. Like using. It's like that movie. Remember that movie that came out with Bruce Willis? Surrogate? I didn't watch it. I don't think. I didn't think I didn't watch it. I don't think anyone's watched it. I love how all the sci-fi movies we are recommended to watch. We still haven't seen. I'm sorry, everybody. I haven't seen the movie.

22:06But the premise did sound interesting. I think it's an old premise. Probably something terribly new, I think. And the idea is that like you can plug in to a surrogate body, like a robot. Oh, yeah. That movie. Now I remember that movie. And then you can go and indulge in whatever you can't do or would be inhibited in real life to do like, you know, I don't know. Okay. Oh, that's like Westworld too. Westworld. Yeah. I was just about to say. Yeah. Exactly. Westworld. Exactly. So whatever you're into, as good or as terrible as it is, it doesn't matter because you're not really doing it. Yeah. But then the question is, are you really doing it? And that's the whole thing. So I think that's what Malice is talking about. If we go to a philosophical land of things.

22:49I don't really feel like it, but we can go. We can go for a little bit. We'll have a little visit. Just a little sneak peek. Just like nose in, nose out. A little peek. Come on, let's go. Dip our toes. I mean, there's people who have strict moral codes, I think might see that as real life, not real life. Like, let's say in real spectrum of what we can do now, not in the future. Let's say you can play a video game like GTA and you can murder someone on the street with a baseball bat, right? Similar kind of thing. Exactly. Obviously, you're not thinking of the consciousness of that AI because it's super limited and has no feelings. But what you can think about, like, okay, so you can think about yourself. Am I doing something wrong because I'm doing this even though it's not real?

23:32You know, like, am I being that person? So I guess from that point of view, you can look at that and some people will be like, no, I want to ruin a game because that's the same as doing it in real life because I'm doing the action. Yeah. But, yeah. So that's one way of looking at, you know, like, as from your point of perspective and then there's from the, you know, the AI's point of perspective. And that's, honestly, that's like a gradient. It's like a spectrum. I have no idea, like, if you can create AI at what point is, you know, because I play games like that and then I turn into an animal. Just for the fun of it, you know, and it's a sort of release.

24:12I mean, I don't think I would do that. Yeah. But I don't even have like such. Such animalistic urges. On the world, in the world, I'm a very nonviolent person. But in the video game, it's not even just because it's violence, just because it's possible there. You know what I mean? It's like that. I don't do it because like, oh, violence. I, you know, I must get out. You don't do it because you know there's a possibility to do it. But you know that because that's the point. No, I do it because it's like, oh, it is possible to do it. Not like, oh, I have violence in me. I need to get it out. So I get it out. Oh, you're just like, this is something I can do. Therefore, I'll try it. Yeah, that's exactly like that. Yeah, that's exactly the reason I would like it's if someone's watching is be funny.

24:52You know what I mean? Like it's like as for for a joke. But I don't know, like even if there was a robot thing to think about in this equation is there is a difference, which would be in the computer world and the real world. The biggest difference is the possibility that you are affecting other people. And that's really, I think, a crucial distinction that has to be made that in the computer world, theoretically, you can do anything. And of course, it's going to depend on how you feel about that morally. But in the real world, when you do those things, you affect others. And that's, you know, the crux of the matter. And that's the question. Does the is the AI on a capable level that you actually affected?

25:32You know, right. Is it actually? Yeah, but what if they're like, hey, it's fine. It's cool. I like it. Who? The AI. The AI? Yeah. I think the AI is all good. If the AI is going, you're thinking like it's fine, do it, then I would be worried. Oh, I see what you're saying. You know what I mean? I don't know. I don't think, I don't think if. But there wouldn't be AI in this case. That's what I'm thinking because. Okay. Will it be conscious or unconscious? Yeah. I think we've dipped our toes enough. Well, that's what I'm saying. I think that's the difference. I think that's the difference. That is true because I think if we take the AI as entities and as people also, like if you look at them with the same rights and value as humans, then yeah, you're getting in

26:14trouble of affecting other AIs. You don't want to do that too. What if they like it? I guess you're fine. You're fine. It loves it. That was his program. It was programmed to be a dirty. Well, here's the thing. Like Toy Story, right? The toys, that's their purpose. They like it. They want to get played with. That's true. That sounds so horrible. That sounds so bad. I put this in the wrong time. This is the wrong time dimension. Toy Story. Toy Story. That just took a poof. But I think... We can save that for the end when we don't, aren't they? I'm sorry. I totally thought this at the wrong moment. That's pretty funny though. That's pretty funny.

26:55But I think, you know, like we have... I do know what you mean though. With CGI... A glass of water, its purpose is for you to drink out of it. Jesus. What? It'll be really sad being on the shelf all the time. You see what I mean? That's persification. Toys don't actually think that, Philip. Whatever. There's not a tool that... Shout out to Toy Story Minute, by the way. ...self-aware to think like that. It's impossible. What are they grapple? What are you, Carl? With the philosophical issue of... This is like Carl Pilkington logic. To toast, it likes to be used. Toast, it's... That's okay. It's funny. It wants to toast. It wants to toast. I put toast in it. Its desire is to toast.

27:36What I wanted to say is that, you know, in CGI and movies, right, there's the, you know, the uncanny valley where it looks real, but it's such a close to the realness that you can pick up subconsciously these minute details that just throw it off. And I think if AI will progress to the level of unknowing, if it's, you know, if, you know, the line will be blurred, I think in saying conversation or movement of the AI, I think there'll be a long period of uncanny valley where, you know, like in games, there'll be glitches and everything. And sure. You know what I mean? Like, you'll be talking to the red woman and just say something weird. She'll be like... You know, and I think, and I think that would like, I don't know, maybe some people will

28:22just see that. She's not real. You know? I don't know. Off with her head. Anyway, let's return. We have dipped on two toes. We have no sturgeon. Tell us what you think. Yes. Yes. Tell us what you think, because this is quite something. Okay. Yeah. So, Mouse continues this discussion. And he says, yeah, it doesn't make us... This is more of what the body needs, you see, Neo? Oh. That was the idea, I think. Really? When Mouse was like, he doesn't have everything the body needs. Oh, I thought... It's true. I thought Mouse just didn't buy it. I thought Mouse knew, like, we're being... No, no, no. He was talking about the body needs sex as well. That's what he was talking about. No way. How do you just pick up on all this? Because of the way he said it. That's what he was talking about. I was thinking, literally, Mouse goes like, this is my thinking.

29:04It has always been until this point. But, like, listen, was like, he goes, it has everything the body needs. And Mouse is like, shut up. I've been here for so long. It doesn't have all the body needs. Oh, I guess that makes sense. I know. He knows about the fiber and the fats. He knows the dozer is just, you know, making advertising. He's like... He's eating those breads, those giant breads. Anyway, Neo, I have a topic to tell you. Just like the Legolas commercial in Fellowship of the Ring. One small bite is enough to fill the stomach of a grown man. Oh, yeah. Lampas. Wait, what, what? Huh? What does it have to do with anything? Oh, he's got a lumbus stored in his cupboard. He has a close-up and he's doing a commercial of the product. Oh, I see. And dozer is here with a close-up with the commercial webinar. Exactly. Anyway, Morpheus interrupts everything.

29:45Yeah, as usual. And Cypher, as we mentioned before, he's in the back again. He's just hanging out, isolated. Out with the crew. He's not eating food. But anyway, Morpheus comes in. He's like, let's take him out. Come on. Before we get to that, what do you guys think if you freeze frame and Morpheus opens the door, next to him is a cabinet. What do you think is in the cabinet? Aminos. Aminos. I think you're right. We got that one covered. Okay. Also, I love the old school, like, school bell or alarm. Yeah, there's a little school bell. You never hear it, but, you know, sure. Morpheus could have used the bell when he was... Before he walked in.

30:26Yes. Morpheus is coming. Morpheus alert. Yeah. Hide your red woman. You know what? Maybe we will hear the bell when the sentinels show up in the end of the film. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe we will. Is that foreshadowing? I don't know. I'm not sure. I'm actually completely cool. Morpheus directs Dozer, who is evidently the pilot. He is. Yes. He is the pilot. Bringing the ship to broadcast something. Depth. Depth. Broadcast depth, yeah. Get the FM radio on. And he goes, all righty. FM radio. We're going in. This is Zion. We're under attack. What was that? Nothing. They're going in.

31:06So they're going in and going to go see Ori. Ori. I wanted to mention the close-up that Cypher and Trinity share. That was an interesting thing where they both look at each other. Yeah. Those two close-ups were emphasized in the film. I think in the history of the unplugging, I think Cypher and Trinity were unplugged like right after each other, I think. Yeah. Yeah. Because I think maybe before the rest of them. Well, like we mentioned with Niall, they were a couple. They were married. Yes. We were watching a video the other day entitled, Why Cypher Did It? Exploring Cypher's Motivations. We should watch it, by the way, Tim. We're trying to get him on this show. Hopefully we'll be joining us. Hopefully we get him on the show.

31:47And he was talking about how there is probably some kind of connection between Trinity and Cypher. It's obviously not clear. It could have been a relationship. Either way, it seems like they were at some point close because they have this. He was explaining how they're sort of a shorthand and how they talk. They don't really have to explain a lot to understand each other. So it's something interesting that I didn't think about until you guys were talking about. And it seems to make sense. Like you said, maybe they were plugged out early on. And maybe, you know, if anything, they just have known each other for a long time. Yeah. They always share the look. I mean, there's this stupid urban legend that everyone posts on Facebook and social media.

32:29And it's like, here's a strange fact. Every time a group of laughs, you will look at the person who you care most. That's kind of... That's one of those things that your mom keeps sharing on Facebook. Is your mom sharing that away? The pseudoscience. That's what it is. So, but it's funny that in a situation, it's not a laughing. That no one laughs in this stupid movie. No, sorry. No one, but... You're out. We're getting a new host. Yeah, I call this movie stupid. Out with you. Out with me. No, I love this movie. But they always do. Like anytime something happens, they look at each other. They do. I wonder, yeah. They all care about each other. Anyway, I have a nice little special corner.

33:10Special corner I want to mention. It'll just be in this episode. And it's Neo's dialogue. Because I was looking at this transcript of the Matrix and I was quite amused that most of what Neo says are very short spurts of questions. And here's some wonderful quotable lines that Neo actually says throughout the first half of the whole thing. What? What the hell? Follow Light Rabbit? Who is it? Got the money? My computer it. Have you ever had a feeling when you're not sure if you're awake and still dreaming? How do you know that name? Who are you? Dreamy? The Trinity? The Hacked RSD base? On my computer. How did you do that?

33:51Of what? Who is? What is the Matrix? Who's coming for me? What? Right now? How do you know all this? Why is this happening to me? What did I do? How about I give you the finger? And you give me a phone call. What are you talking about? What is happening to me? Back to barking. What the hell is this? From what? What? Why? What are you? What is that thing? Jesus Christ. The thing's real. What truth? You did all this? What does it mean? Did you? Am I dead? What are you doing? Why do my eyes hurt? What's happening to me? What is this place? I'm worried just the first 10 minutes of the movie. When? Right now we're inside a computer program? This isn't real? There you go. My favorite is, why do my eyes hurt? How about I give you the finger? Why do my eyes hurt? You see, it's just questioning and it's just short sentences.

34:35I'm really trying to think hard. Doesn't you ever say something that's not a question? Yeah, he does. He does that a few times. Once he grows a little bit of confidence towards the end. Every time he gets a little bit knowledgeable of something, he grows confidence. He's more, but so far he's just a new guy. And it's good that he's asking. You know, he's not. Of course. And the thing about if he wasn't asking, no one would answer our questions. No, no, no. Yeah. Everyone would think he's not the one. He's just sitting in the corner. And everyone wouldn't talk in the movie. It would just be, we're going where? To the Oracle. Yes. And we're like, what? Who's the Oracle? No, no. We're just like, we're going. Oh yeah, we're going. And Neo gets up and goes. That's it. Where are we? No one knows. Oh, you know where we are?

35:161996 zone. Okay. Ready? Do we have time this episode? Of course we do. This is a bit of a long episode. Shut up. We'll play the episode. Do it. Do the jingle now. We'll play the episode. Which episode? Which episode do we want to play? Oh, I don't know. Which episode do we want to play? The jingle didn't play. I have to say, play the jingle. Play the jingle. Okay, now. Now I can talk about it. So, 1996 script. First of all, in the 1998 shooting draft, the only thing that changes is that Mouse mentions cream of wheat. That was the word, by the way. Thank you so much for bringing it up, Tim. Remember last time we were talking about the semolina or whatever? Yes. Cream of wheat is the one I was talking about, the English.

35:57Oh, okay. All right. Okay. Yeah. So, he goes like, you know what it really reminds me of? Cream of wheat. Did you ever eat cream of wheat? And then, you know, then the whole thing goes on. See? Mouse was thinking just like I was thinking. Neo scoops a mouthful. Mm-hmm. And now the 1996 one, there actually is no dinner scene, but there's an earlier draft with the cockroaches, if you remember that. The cockroaches. I remember that well. With the cacalacas. And according to Phil Oosterhouse, here's what the earlier script draft says.

36:37So, remember the crab leg and the cockroaches and everything? So, there's a character called Jazz and Buzz. And Buzz was Mouse, but he's not Mouse anymore. And there's also Jazz, who's probably Apoc. Okay? So, here we go. And the woman in the red dress was called Eve in this draft. Very on the nose. Yeah. Oh, wow. So, Neo struggles trying to break open the shell. And then Buzz, or Mouse, goes, I created Eve, you know. And Buzz laughs. And I can create anyone else if your heart desires. And then Jazz goes, Buzz is your local porno shop here.

37:18And then Buzz goes, Jazz and Buzz, and Buzz goes, don't listen to these prudes, Neo. We're men. We have urges. And then he leans close, licking the artificial butter from his lips. If you've ever fantasized about screwing any woman or hell, any man, on disc, I already got Miller and Monroe, Betty Page, Cokie Roberts, and then Apoc. On disc. Apoc goes, Cokie Roberts? And Buzz goes, oh, that brain. And Jazz hands him a piece of white meat. Neo dips and eats it. What's this? And then Jazz says, you're going to learn, Neo.

37:59Neo, there's some questions you don't want to know the answers to. And then suddenly, the lights dim, and Tank, who left for a moment, returns, carrying a small fruitcake with a single candle on it. Oh. And Morpheus says, here's a little something we do, Neo, to celebrate your first day out. What? He raises his polyplastic glass, and everyone does the same. Oh, no. Wait, this is Morpheus' line. Happy birthday, Neo. Neo stares at the burning candle. And Morpheus goes, what? Be careful what you wish for. What was that? There you go. A fruit with a candle on top of it? I bet you don't regret reading that. What is that?

38:40Fruitcake. You get a fruitcake. He's talking about Betty Page. He's talking about different people on disc. Is his birthday the first time he goes back into the Matrix? Yeah, why is that a birthday? Yeah, I would get, but he's unplugged. Maybe that's a birthday. I'm just the messenger. And I love also Morpheus is ominous. Be careful what you wish for. Yes. What is Morpheus' problem? Well, there are a lot more. There are a lot less religious in this one. There are a lot more loose. Free and verted. That's true. Polo mags on discs. On disc. That's the best part. On disc. We're men with urges. And that's a lot of dialogue. It's just crazy. Glorious. Well, this was an action-packed episode.

39:22Episode 66. Full of, you know. Manly urges. Urges and temptations. Is it episode 69? Yeah. That's later. Yeah. Tim. Nassica was just referencing a joke. Yeah. That he messed up with. 90, 90, 90. It was good. It was a good moment. I just had to reference it. Anyway. Yeah. Tune in on the Matrix Minute.1. That's right. Please do. Thank you for listening so far. Everybody that's listening. And no, check out the discussion group. We're talking over there. And you can join us. Just join. And we talk about stuff that's happening.

40:02Yep. Yep. Hopefully you don't mind the cash, you know, approach we have these days. Yeah. It fits the winter mood. And you're just like, oh, you know. You know, it's Christmas coming. Yeah. It's less business time. It's more family time. Yes. Yeah. Happy birthday, Neo. Happy birthday. Thank you.
